The dining area has table and chairs to comfortably seat four. The living area has a sofa and occasional chair with plenty of cushions and throws to make this a cosy spot to while away an evening. There is Sky TV, DVD player with a selection of DVDs and board games available for when you just want to kick back and relax. French doors lead to an enclosed terrace with table and chairs for al fresco dining or a morning brew, the perfect sun trap. For the summer months a barbecue with charcoal is provided for use on the terrace. The first floor has a double bedroom to the rear and has been tastefully furnished with scatter cushions, pretty throws, digital radio and magazines giving a real feel of luxury. The large family bathroom has a separate shower cubicle, bath and toilet A complimentary toiletries box awaits every stay with locally sourced natural ingredient products from a pretty independent shop in the high street. The second floor has a small work area at the top of the stairs just in case you need to bring work away. The owners have really tried to think of everything to make your stay special, from beach bag to dog basket, bowl and doggie treats. A welcome basket with milk, crisps, biscuits and a locally sourced apple juice and a cupboard stocked with different teas, coffee and even hot chocolate.
The Salts is perfectly positioned for enjoying all that Rye and beyond has to offer you are only moments away from good pubs, restaurants and the towns medieval history. Always a good start to any visit to Rye is the town’s Heritage Centre. Here you can watch the Town Model Sound and Light show which goes into detail about the history and the colourful past of Rye and it’s inhabitants or wander upstairs and play the Old Penny Pier Machines and giggle at the Laughing Sailor. If antiques interest you then visit the Strand Quay where you can try your hand at bartering and grab yourself a bargain. Rye benefits from a good selection of independent boutiques and coffee/tea shops to enjoy at your leisure. - Eastbourne, EnglandAlbany House is a stone’s throw away from the sea; a semi-detached property with a garden, decked area, BBQ and sitting-out area, sea views and free parking on the private driveway. The holiday home has two good-sized bedrooms with good sea views, and a sunroom where you can look over the garden and read a book. There is an open plan living/dining room, kitchen, separate toilet, utility room and a family bathroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed, storage, and lots of natural light; the second bedroom has a zip and link twin bed which can be converted to a super king size. Situated in the coastal town of Seaford, where you will find fish and chips, restaurants, bars, cafés, and a shopping area. Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway Adventure Park is less than 15 miles away and the nearest airport is London Gatwick Airport. Brighton Pier is less than 15 miles, taking 30 minutes by car along the A259. Eastbourne Pier is just over ten miles away and takes approximately 25 minutes by car along the A259. There is a good bus route to both Brighton and Eastbourne. Seven Sisters national park is less than 10 miles away and there is a bus that takes you there. Herstmonceux Castle is a short drive away and offers 300 acres of woodland formal gardens and of course the 15th-century moated castle. The building at the time was the largest private home in England and since it adopted the French fashion of building in brick, the castle of Herstmonceux was unique. It is well worth a visit to learn a little about the history of the castle and relax before taking a gentle stroll around the formal gardens. Other attractions close by for your enjoyment include Glyndbourne with internationally renowned concerts and plays performed throughout the year, and Firle Place which is an outstanding privately owned country house in Sussex that dates from the time of Henry VIII. - Rye, EnglandThis inviting holiday cottage with a pretty garden at the end of a cobbled twitten is close to the famous Mermaid Inn in the quaint streets of Rye. You enter this charming cottage straight into the living/dining room, with a lovely large window overlooking the pretty front garden. With a patio and lawn, this is a balmy sunny spot for the summer months. A Smart TV complete with Netflix account provided and an Amazon Echo speaker allow you to enjoy your holiday with all the mod cons. A gentle stroll and you can visit the Heritage Centre, where you can watch the town model’s ’Sound and Light’ show which goes into detail about the history and the colourful past of Rye and its inhabitants. Just a 10-minute drive away is the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve where you can walk along the sea wall and out on to the marshes to enjoy flora and fauna. You can choose to walk out to Camber Castle, originally located on a shingle spit and where once it protected the towns of Rye and Winchelsea before the sea receded. Although no longer open to visitors it is still a striking landmark worth a visit.
The award-winning beach of Camber Sands is just a short drive away and has miles of sandy beach and dunes to explore. Visit the rock pools at low tide on the pebbly beach at Pett Level, just a 10-minute drive from Rye. The towns of Hastings and Ashford are around a 30-minute drive away and here you can get mainline trains to London if you wish to explore the capital for a day. The towns of Tenterden and Canterbury are all within easy reach by car and are well worth a visit. If you would like to take a day trip to the continent, the Eurostar can be picked up from Ashford International station and trains to Paris, Lille and Bruges are available. For the arts and culture, the Jerwood Gallery in Hastings and Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne are great places to start. Charleston House (home to the Bloomsbury group), Farley Farmhouse and Gallery (home of the surrealists), Great Dixter House and Gardens and Batemans (home of Rudyard Kipling) are all nearby.
Although you could truly lose yourself in the wonderful countryside, there are good train connections to Eastbourne, Hastings, Brighton, Tunbridge Wells and London. Services from three local stations are all within 12 miles of The Parlour. To explore by car, the nearest beach is 10 miles away at Pevensey. Eastbourne and Hastings are a 20 to 30-minute drive, and Brighton can be reached in 50 minutes.

Hillcroft Farm itself is a working arable farm with over 1000 acres of different crops which can be seen for miles. Looking over the 1066 countryside Hillcroft Farm pods are located just off of a main footpath/bridleway leading down into Coombe Valley Nature Reserve perfect for ramblers or cyclists with its cycle path. Looking south of the pods you can see the large lake in the distance whilst watching the sun rise and listening to the local wildlife. With little light pollution you can spend the evening sitting outside around the fire pit drinking hot chocolate and looking up at the stars. Crowhurst boasts a mainline railway station leading straight into London along with a local pub within walking distance. There is an abundance of public footpaths throughout the village great for walking and cycling. Slightly further afield the historic town of Battle only a ten minute drive away offers an abundance of local independent shops, cafés, bars and restaurants along with the home of the Battle of Hastings itself at English Heritage’s Battle Abbey. If you fancy a trip to the coast then Hastings and St Leonard’s are only a short drive away boasting shops, beaches, the pier, amusements, crazy golf and no trip to the seaside would be complete without the traditional ice cream parlours and fish and chip shops. Further afield East Sussex boasts an abundance of walks, gardens and castles including Scotney Castle, Bodiam Castle and Batemans, the home of Rudyard Kipling, to name just a few.
