Also on this floor is the bathroom, combining a bath with a shower over, offering the versatility of a refreshing shower and the indulgence of a relaxing bath in one convenient space.
Shanklin and its surrounding area offer a plethora of captivating sights and engaging activities for visitors to explore. In Shanklin itself, one can start by strolling along the picturesque Shanklin Chine, a stunning gorge with lush vegetation, cascading waterfalls, and enchanting pathways. The Old Village is another must-visit, with its charming thatched-roof cottages, quaint shops, and cosy tearooms exuding a delightful ambience. A visit to Shanklin Beach is a must, with its golden sands stretching along the coastline, or the nearby Sandown Bay also offers opportunities for water sports such as kayaking or paddleboarding.
Beyond Shanklin, the Isle of Wight has much to offer. A visit to the iconic Needles is a sight not to be missed, with The Needles Park providing a range of attractions including breathtaking views. History buffs can explore Carisbrooke Castle, a medieval fortress with a rich past, while outdoor enthusiasts can venture into the island’s countryside, with its rolling hills, picturesque villages and scenic walks, or enjoy the many activities the island has to offer.

Inside, the house has been beautifully furnished in a traditional style, enhancing the house’s beautiful period features. Downstairs you’ll find an incredibly spacious living area finished with leather sofas and large feature windows looking out into the garden. When you feel like cooking up a storm, the farmhouse style kitchen is equipped with all the necessary mod cons. Upstairs, the five bedrooms provide the perfect places to rest your weary head after a busy day.

On a warm day, you can step out into the patio and garden area and enjoy the sunshine is blissful peace and quiet. Complete with patio table and chairs and a picnic bench, this is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a bite to eat or a glass of wine.

Clarendon House is located just a short stroll from Shanklin Old Village, famous for its thatched cottages, quirky gift shops and traditional tea rooms. Shanklin Theatre is just a two-minute walk from the house or if you fancy a day at the seaside, Shanklin Seafront and its amusements are also nearby.

With a wonderful beach just moments away, this spacious apartment, new for 2018, is located on the eastern side of the island, just outside of Shanklin town. Ideal for families, the property is able to accommodate up to six guests and it is also dog friendly, benefiting from an enclosed rear garden.
The excellent nearby beach offers a classic British seaside vibe and can be accessed from a set of steps from the top of the cliff path which is close to the property. Alternatively you can gain access from either of the flanking esplanades at Shanklin or Sandown. As this beach is effectively tucked away and not quite as straightforward to reach as its resort neighbours, it is very often quieter during the busier seasons, making it a peaceful alternative for a day on the beach, and the perfect spot for surfing, kayaking or paddle boarding, as the sea is relatively shallow and clear. Take advantage of the instructional school which is located at the back of the beach that offers a whole range of water sports activities for all ages and abilities. There are beach huts which you can look to hire and also a number of benches to sit on along the sea wall path, and there is also a café and barbecue area which is always popular during the summer season. When the tide is further in and the golden sands briefly disappear, the walk along the sea wall between Sandown and Shanklin is highly recommended as it offers a wide, flat path which is ideal for both walkers and cyclists.
Away from the beach, the town of Shanklin hosts a multitude of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants to enjoy. The old village is world famous with its pretty thatched pubs, rock shop, cosy tea rooms, restaurants and craft shops. The esplanade is packed full of amusements and crazy golf, as well as several waterfront eateries.
Neighbouring Sandown is a truly traditional beach resort with pier, amusements and pitch and putt. The Isle of Wight Zoo, and the Dinosaur Isle attraction can be found at the northern end of the esplanade towards Yaverland and Culver Down. The town is brimming with attractions to entertain visitors, most of them right on the beach front itself, so again you never have to stray too far from the sand. Further afield, there are numerous attractions to discover for all ages on this beautiful sunny island. To the west you’ll find The Needles Landmark Attraction with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Venture north towards Cowes and you can pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and Gardens, or perhaps go south past Ventnor down to Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK. The Farriers is full of character boasting beautiful hand made features and tasteful décor throughout. On entering the property to your right along the corridor you’ll find the well-equipped kitchen, living and dining area. This space is the perfect communal area in which to unwind after a busy day exploring everything the island has to offer. The French doors lead you out to a private spacious garden that overlooks the farms fields, it’s a view not be missed! The Farriers has one shower room with a walk-in shower, a sink with a handmade vanity unit for storage and a heated towel rail. The master bedroom sleeps two guests in a kingsize bed and has plenty of storage in a large wardrobe and chest of drawers. The second bedroom sleeps up to two guests in a full size 3ft bunk bed. The room has plenty of storage in a large wardrobe with two drawers underneath.
The location is perfect for cyclists, walkers, ramblers, runners and families and there is private access onto the old railway line from the farm. The track is part of the Red Squirrel Trail, a 32-mile trail around the island countryside. As well as this the old railway line has many footpaths and bridleways branching off it taking you on miles of off road routes. You really can get the best of both worlds here with the beach just a 5-minute drive away if you fancy a change of scenery. The farm is also on a bus route for guests staying without a car meaning you don’t miss out on a thing!

It’s only a 10-minute stroll to the wonderful sandy beaches too. Shanklin is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the island, home to the Old Village and Shanklin Chine. The seafront is packed with amusements, activities, and crazy golf courses. Within a moment’s walk of Captain’s Cottage is the bus station, which has great links to anywhere on the island and there is also an open-top bus in the summer season, great for sight seeing. At the end of the road, there is also a train station, which stops at several coastal towns. Osborne House was once Queen Victoria’s favourite residence and is open to the public and well worth a visit, as are Carisbrook Castle, The Needles rock formations, Robin Hill park with acres of parkland, natural woodland, countryside gardens, adventures, and special events, Ventnor Botanical Gardens and Shanklin Chine, a deep wooded gorge with streams and waterfalls.
The model village at Godshill is also not to be missed as this gives a good overview of the island and its attractions, all in miniature of course. Start your holiday as soon as you hop onto one of the many ferry options, whether you whiz over on the Hovercraft or one of the car ferry links.
