The surrounding area is full of charming villages which also provide a good selection of quality restaurants, quaint tea rooms, shops and traditional pubs to accommodate most taste.

    The Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covers 312 square miles and you’ll find the landscape has immense diversity with spectacular woodland, moorland and farmland to explore. You’ll find ample paths and lanes to follow direct from the door and many closer by including the popular Nicky Nook and Grizedale Valley. The summit of Beacon Fell is 266 metres above sea level and as you’d imagine offers spectacular views over the Forest of Bowland and Morecambe Bay, and on a clear day it’s even possible to see the Isle of Man. Lancaster, the Yorkshire Dales, Cumbria and the Lake District are all within easy reach for days out, and finally if you fancy a change of scenery, the Fylde Coast and popular resorts of Blackpool and Lytham St Annes.

    Located in the rural hamlet of Moss Side on the outskirts of wonderfully cosmopolitan Lytham, this wonderful complex of six holiday cottages provide a perfect base for friends and family alike wanting a fabulous seaside getaway. Newly renovated in 2022 they’re set around a pretty courtyard and surrounded by superb countryside despite being just 3 miles from the coast.
    There’s a variety of single and two-storey cottages all comfortably accommodating four guests, plus an additional three bedroom cottage that comes complete with hot tub. Careful thought and design has gone into each of the conversions making great use of original features where possible. Large windows have also been included to many of the open plan living arrangements to ensure a bright and airy space, and to really make the most of the countryside views.
    The centre of ‘Leafy Lytham’ is less than 3 miles away, or a 4 minute train journey from Moss Side station which is around a 10 minute walk. Lytham is a lovely seaside town where you can enjoy everything from fish and chips to fine dining plus lots of coffee shops. It’s famed for its iconic ‘Windmill on the Green’, as well as the annual Lytham Festival and Lytham Proms. A direct train service will also take you to neighbouring St Annes in 10 minutes where you’ll find a huge beautiful sandy beach, and then in 20 minutes you’ll reach Blackpool. Blackpool is home to a massive amount of tourist attractions including Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Tower, the Sandcastle Water Park, SEA LIFE Blackpool and of course the annual illuminations light show.
    For any golfers, there’s plenty of championship courses in the area and the reeds and marshes of the Ribble Estuary are popular with birdwatchers and wildlife lovers.     It is like stepping back in time when you walk into historic Heysham village, next to the sea.

    Heysham village boasts The Royal Hotel having a sound reputation for great food with a large outdoor bar and seating area to enjoy the summer months. There’s a couple of quaint tea rooms and Glebe Gardens in the grounds of St. Peters Church overlooking the bay is worth a visit. From the village, you can also walk to Half Moon Bay, a sandy beach with grass-covered dunes and low cliffs.

    The Haven, a cosy and inviting cottage, is accessed via an external stone staircase. A small hallway leads to the elegant living room where you will find plenty of comfortable seating, an electric fire, and a Smart TV, perfect for cosy nights in after exploring the area. Across the hallway is the dining area with seating for four, as well as a sideboard with board games and a retro radio which also plays vinyl records. In the kitchen, there are all the modern conveniences, and the kitchen also leads to the outdoor seating area. A spacious master bedroom with a king size bed is located on the first floor, the room is elegantly furnished to enhance the original stained-glass windows, this room also has a Smart TV.     Heysham was a quiet farming and fishing community until 1904 when Heysham Port opened. The village, dating back to Viking times, still has a historic old centre, a delightful maze of winding lanes and picturesque cottages. Discover ST Patrick’s 8th century chapel and iconic rock hewn graves on the dramatic headlands overlooking the bay. In the old centre of the village is Heysham Heritage Centre, housed in part of what was originally a long house it is an unusual example of surviving 17th century village architecture and tells the story of the village’s architecture and past industry in a series of exhibitions. Near the heritage centre there are two cafés, a quirky retro café serving a wide range of interesting cakes and lunches, and the other is known for its traditional homemade fudge. On the same road is a 16th century coaching inn that offers an extensive menu in its popular restaurant, real ales in the covered and heated garden bar. Beach is less than 1 mile away.
