    Stamford Townhouse is a grade II listed building located in the stunning stone town of Stamford in Lincolnshire, and it’s only a 15-minute walk across the park to the magnificent Burghley House. The house has been designed to sleep up to seven guests over four floors but is ideal for couples wanting to stay too. The house has a well-equipped, well-presented kitchen with laundry facilities too and all the usual mod cons you would expect in a holiday home to make a home cooked meal should you not wish to dine out at the many superb eateries close by. On the same floor is the cosy living room which is a great place to kick back and relax after a day exploring the surrounding areas with a glass of your favourite holiday tipple. There is a bathroom on the first floor, and a unique wet room with a toilet and basin in the basement tunnel (kids love this feature). There is a small courtyard to the rear of the property. The master bedroom is a double, and there is a bunk bedroom which has been slept in by adults too. The second-floor bedroom can be made up as twin beds or as a double. The basement room (it has a window) has a single bed. All bedrooms have very comfortable beds with fresh cotton linen guaranteeing a perfect night’s sleep. There is also the option to request a Z-bed if flexible sleeping arrangements are preferred, by prior arrangement directly with the owner at an additional cost.
    Stamford Townhouse is located on a quiet side road just a minute’s walk into Historic Burghley Park and just a short walk into the centre of Stamford. The William Cecil Hotel is just around the corner and has a great restaurant as does the famous George Hotel also a few minute’s stroll towards the centre of town. Apart from all the wonderful trappings that Stamford has to offer, great independent shops and many and varied places to eat and drink plus some really stonking pubs too and theatres and museums it’s only a short drive to Peterborough Cathedral, Rockingham Castle and Rutland Water.
    Sacrewell near Wansford has a wonderful animal farm for our younger guests to appreciate. Ferry Meadows near Peterborough is worth a visit too. The area has so much to see and do, whether you are into the historic history of England or enjoy the adrenaline thrill of motorsports, as Northamptonshire is the centre of motorsports, you are 45 minutes from Silverstone. We have the Prebendal Manor in Nassington, private visits can be arranged, and its museum is full of interesting finds. Peterborough Cathedral is somewhere to wonder at as is Burghley House just 6.5 miles up the A1. There are also great street markets in the area at Oundle (Thrs) and Stamford (Fri). Rutland Water is only a 20-minute drive and offers great leisure activities from a waterside stroll, learn to sail, windsurf or hire a bike and cycle around the reservoir stopping off for a well, deserved pint or juice at The Horse and Jockey at Manton.

A short drive away you will discover the place Sir Walter Scott described as ‘the finest stone town’ in England: Stamford with its cobbled courtyards and alleys give way to unique boutiques and sweet cafés, making it perfect for a weekend escape. Stamford’s position on the Great North Road meant it was a major trading post with wool a speciality, and many majestic old stone buildings remain. It is a big town, fully able to cater for every need with galleries, pubs, museums and more, and its old charm made it a prime TV spot: Pride and Prejudice and Middlemarch were filmed here.
    The major hubs of Northampton and Cambridge are nearby, as is the market town of Melton Mowbray, a portal for gourmet travellers: several food festivals happen here, from chocolate to cheese.     he Sanctuary is a beautiful barn conversion which offers a comfortable stay in the Medieval hamlet of Burton Pedwardine, which can trace its history back to before the Norman Conquest and is mentioned in The Domesday Book. The characterful property is set on the owners’ sheep sanctuary and has been stylishly decorated and furnished with a unique flourish (the owners are artists), giving a relaxing home-from-home feeling.
    The Sanctuary offers a luxury holiday retreat whilst being ideally located to explore all that Lincolnshire has to offer. The locale is steeped in history and the land is the predominant site of the original medieval village complete with an 11 meter deep well, the village pond and the old road running diagonally across. The Sanctuary is built with salvaged materials from outbuildings which once stood adjacent to the main house, and on part of the old village green. The owners built a barn-style property with a double height ceiling and the slate roof was salvaged from the nearby Victorian Schoolhouse.
    The property is entered directly into the bright and spacious living area. There is a cosy sitting area which boasts a stunning wood burner providing additional heat and charm along with a Smart TV ideal to kick back and relax in comfort. In the same open-plan space there is a warm dining area which seats six and a coffee/tea station on the way to the well-equipped, well-presented kitchen with plenty of space for food preparation should you not wish to dine at the many eateries close by. On the same floor is a lovely bathroom with a generous shower. Through the bi-fold doors from the living area, there is a gorgeous patio area leading on to the property’s private, enclosed garden, surrounded by stunning views giving you a great place to sit out and relax in the summer months whilst enjoying a glass of fizz, or simply taking in the fresh morning air to the sound of sheep and chickens with your coffee.
    There are three good sized bedrooms one on the ground floor and two on the first floor. The ground floor bedroom has a generous kingsize bed. One of the bedrooms on the first floor has en-suite facilities and another kingsize bed. The third bedroom is the largest with a super kingsize zip and link bed, small sitting area, tv and dressing table.     Heckington is two miles away with a train station for trips to the East Coast with its many beaches and nature reserves. Heckington has three pubs, an independent brewery within the eight-sailed windmill, a Co-op, greengrocers, takeaways and cafés (there is a WONDERFUL coffee shop on the high street and an award-winning chip shop). Heckington also plays host to the largest village country show in the UK. Situated just six miles away is the town of Sleaford which has plenty of independent shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs. There is also The Hub, a national centre for art and design and a theatre, plus historical attractions. Within a 40-minute drive are Lincoln, Grantham and Newark with their castles and cathedral. Just a half hour away is Woodhall Spa which has the headquarters of the National Golf Union, two golf courses and academy. Locally, there are lovely walks through the surrounding countryside and cycle routes straight from your accommodation with an abundance of wildlife which surrounds the property. Lincolnshire Cycle Trail runs through the village. Cyclists around here are made of serious stuff; however, local roads are largely level and easy for novices. The fantastic Lincolnshire Wolds National Park is also easily accessible with plenty of scenic walks and cycle trails.
