If you’re looking for a getaway with a difference, then look no further than Keldholme Shepherds Hut. Open plan throughout it features a plush double bed, Smart TV, a delightful sitting area with wood burner to snuggle up in front of on those colder evenings and a modern kitchenette complete with a two ring gas hob, fridge, combi microwave oven/grill and enough storage and workspace to prepare a meal for two. In a mini separate shepherd’s hut attached, is a fully fitted shower room. The enclosed garden offers a covered decked area with seating along with a separate seating area which presents a firepit and barbecue, both giving you a fantastic space to relax and have a drink al fresco style after a day’s adventuring.

The Shepherds Hut is dog friendly, and there are miles of walking trails and public footpaths to explore during your visit. The Heritage Coast, Whitby, Scarborough and Robin Hood’s Bay are all within easy reach. A visit to this area wouldn’t be complete without a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Some of the stations along the Pickering to Whitby route have featured in the Harry Potter films! The historic city of York is under 40 minutes from Keldholme which is where you will find The Shambles, believed to be the inspiration behind Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter books an films. Whilst in York you can visit the medieval cathedral, York’s Chocolate Story or enjoy a little retail therapy. This beautiful cottage offers a comfortable stay within the charming little village of Wombleton which is located just outside the market town of Helmsley.
This semi-detached cottage has plenty of character, a large fireplace with a wood burner, exposed beams and reclaimed brickwork which offers both couples and families a luxury holiday retreat whilst being ideally located to explore all that the North York Moors has to offer.
The property is set over two levels. You enter the property through a small sunroom which was added to the property in 2021 by the owners, which has a seating are for two, and leads you through to a well presented and well equipped kitchen which has plenty of room for food preparation. There is also a large living area which has all the home comforts to give that lovely home from home feel.
The Second floor presents bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a choice of twin beds or a double. You also have a delightful bathroom which has a shower over the bath along with a heated towel rail. The bathroom is also tiled on the walls and floor.
The garden is set opposite the property, however it gives a lovely private setting which offers a barbecue and garden furniture. Helmsley is the closest town which is 4 miles down the road, meaning you have quick access to the local pubs, cafés, restaurants, shops, and Helmsley Brewery. Greenview also has a gorgeous little inn next door which serves great Yorkshire ales and mouth-watering food, it also has a little beer garden.
You have the stunning North York Moors National Park on your doorstep which is full of bike trails and fantastic, scenic walks, including the very popular Rievaulx Abbey. Other nearby towns include Malton, Pickering, Thirsk and York. If you fancied a day at the beach Scarborough is approximately a 50-minute drive.

The kitchen is well equipped, ideal for rustling up your favourite meals, perhaps using some of the fresh local ingredients which are grown on-site. There is comfortable seating on the sofas around the wood burner, where you can unwind and relax. Glass doors lead you out into the enclosed private garden, with a table and chairs as well as a barbecue, so that you can make the most of the sunshine. The garden leads down to the neighbouring woodland, attracting wildlife literally onto your doorstep. Back inside, you have a dining room adjoining the kitchen, as well as a ground floor wet room. Up on the first floor you have three bedrooms, the master double bedroom has an en suite shower. There is also a twin bedroom as well as a single, and a family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Secluded and tranquil, guests are free to explore the woodland walk and the area is home to a variety of wildlife - including wild deer, owls and hares just to name a few. The property is set on a small traditional organic farm which grows vegetables and organic soft fruit. Guests are welcome to purchase the organic products grown here directly from the friendly owners. The property is environmentally friendly, heated by a unique wood-burning/solar heating system, and many of the practices throughout the farm and property use natural resources for their day-to-day running. An indoor heated swimming pool and hard tennis court shared between other properties, a small gym, as well as a children’s play area complete the facilities on offer.

The quaint cobbled streets of Robin Hood’s Bay, once a favourite haunt with smugglers, will keep children and adults entertained for hours with its shoreline full of strange and colourful pebbles. Castle Howard is within easy driving distance, and Flamingo Land (a popular theme park and zoo) is well worth the visit. The market town of Helmsley is just 6 miles away and has shops and inns as well as pretty walled gardens.
