Explore Southwold, a fantastic seaside town with pier, historic lighthouse and high street lined with independent shops and boutiques. RSPB Minsmere and Dunwich Heath offer opportunities for spotting birds and connecting with wildlife, with excellent walks available. For a quieter sandy beach, head to Covehithe, and for great days out, visit Snape Maltings, Framlingham Castle, Eye Castle, Halesworth Museum, Yoxford Antiques Centre and Gardens and Easton Farm Park.
The vibrant market towns of Bungay and Beccles boast independent boutiques and chain shops and the weekly market is excellent for all things local. At Beccles there is an open air heated outdoor swimming pool, popular with many local swimmers and gateway to the famous Norfolk Broads National Park. The surrounding area offers an excellent collection of eateries, including fine dining to many cafés serving home-made cakes and savouries to delight many palates. Beach 28 miles. Cherry Garth Cottages are located in the centre of Thornton le Dale, ’Yorkshire’s little gem’. Cherry Blossom has been named after the cherry trees which border the garden. The cottage has been built from beautiful traditional Yorkshire stone, and is tucked away in the grounds of the owner’s home Cherry Garth. It has an open plan living area with a welcoming wood burner to snuggle up in front of after a busy day out exploring the spectacular Yorkshire coast and countryside, and upon arrival you will be welcomed with a lovely welcome pack with tea, coffee and biscuits. There are lovely views from the property onto the garden and the bedroom window overlooks the paddock, where sheep graze.

The picturesque village of Thornton le Dale is located on the edge of the North York Moors, a mere one mile from Pickering. From here you can take a ride on the famous steam train to Grosmont, Goathland (aka Aidensfield in the classic TV series Heartbeat) and the seaside town of Whitby where you can climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. Those looking for a quieter pace of life may prefer to walk the many footpaths and bridleways over the North York Moors.

Barn End Cottage is a luxurious semi-detached barn conversion set in the grounds of the owner’s home, and was completely renovated in 2019. It is all on the ground floor and wherever possible the owners have retained the barns original features. On approach, you will come up a private drive flanked by natural paddocks. The property is ahead of you with originally styled shutter doors over the floor to ceiling windows. The open plan living space is light and airy with beams but equally cosy with the wood burner. To the back of the barn you can enjoy the private garden with a sun terrace. In the grounds, guests can enjoy walks but also have access to the owner’s tennis court.

Here, you are hidden away in the Suffolk countryside and excellently located to explore this superb area, with the historic market towns of Framlingham and Saxmundham close by. Cycling and walking are well catered for here, with lovely countryside trails to explore and beautiful scenery along the way. The coast is equally close by with Southwold, Thorpeness and Aldeburgh a short drive away or accessible via public transport. You will not be lost for things to see and do in this beautiful location. Also, home to a dockside shopping outlet too for some discount designer clobber.
Obviously, no romantic gaunt to Gloucestershire, would be complete without a visit to the regency town of Cheltenham, glittered with its fancy cocktail bars, Michelin starred restaurants, shopping boutique and beauty salons are dotted along the regency promenades of Cheltenham Spa. Enjoy art galleries, concert halls, theatres, and world-renowned festivals, with highlight of the year being the Cheltenham Gold Cup, the blue riband event of the national hunt calendar. Riverview Lodge is the perfect race week residency as Cheltenham is easily reached by car within 15 minutes. A little further afield is the wider Cotswolds, all still within a 40-minute drive. Be sure to visit the famous chocolate box villages with their charming honey hued houses. Bourton-on-the-water, Chipping Campden, Cirencester, Stow-on-the-Wold are all easily reached.
