Discover Gamekeepers Cottage, nestled within the glorious Pembrokeshire countryside and just a few minutes’ walk from the quaint hamlet of Newchapel, with a fantastic pub nearby with local ales to sample. This unique and characterful chocolate box property was once the local gamekeepers cottage for Pentre Mansion, and has been in the same family for many years. This semi-detached cottage has been meticulously restored back to its former glory with traditional Welsh building methods.

2 miles away is the village of Abercych, where you can visit the local inn and enjoy truly superb food, specializing in local home cooked produce and set in a magnificent setting alongside the Cych River, where you can dine al-fresco on a warm summer’s day. The market town of Cardigan is around a 10 minutes’ drive away where you will find a plethora of boutique shops, cafes, gift shops and a theatre along with the coastal path that runs through Cardigan. Here you can join the 186 miles of Pembrokeshire National Park coastal footpath, where you can take in this truly beautiful coastline.

This characterful and quirky cottage has been finished to a good standard throughout and offers the perfect romantic retreat. As you enter this cottage you will see the owner’s efforts to retain the original features, including exposed stone, lime walls, original beams and quarry tiled flooring. Enjoy dining in front of the wood burner and then retiring to the cosy living room with a glass of wine, or enjoy sitting out on the patio beneath the stars. On the first floor the bedroom has been lovingly furnished complete with original wooden flooring and leading into an en-suite bathroom, where you can soak in the cast iron, roll-top bath whilst enjoying a good read - the ultimate in relaxation.

The Welsh Wildlife Centre and Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve, run by the Wildlife Trust, is really not to be missed, home to one of the best wetland sites in Wales. Cenarth Falls are just a 5-minute drive, and a short drive north is the market town of Cardigan, set around Cardigan Bay with a plethora of beaches like Mwnt, Poppit Sands and Newport Sands to name a few, which are ideal for dog walking, building sandcastles, fishing or sunbathing. The famous walled town of Tenby is around 50 minutes away. Beach 9 miles. Shop and restaurant 2 miles, pub 800 yards.

Eldin Hall Cottages are set in a peaceful area and have been added more recently to the restored old Victorian waterworks. The four cottages have their own enclosed decked patios with garden furniture, and The Gatehouse has its own enclosed private lawned garden. There is also a shared garden with a fantastic play area for the children. The owners, who just 10 minutes away, will be there to greet guests whenever possible, and are available any time to provide information and assistance when it is required.
Situated between Cayton and Cayton Bay, the cottages are an ideal base to visit the east coast, North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds. The beach at Cayton Bay is less than a mile away (2 miles by road) and just a little further up the coast is the popular seaside town of Scarborough. The resorts of Filey, Flamborough Head and Bridlington are just a short drive away. The walks along the clifftops are spectacular and form part of the Cleveland Way walk. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs attracts visitors from worldwide and is just a short drive from the cottages. Here you can see puffins, kittiwakes and lots of other migrating seabirds. Not to be missed during your stay (as it’s always voted as one of the top ten cities to visit) is the wonderful city of York which is less than an hour away by car, or the train is direct from Scarborough. These three, 18th century barn conversions, (refs 80043, 28645, 28646) are located just 1 mile from the market town of Alston, one of the highest towns in the country and a charming backdrop to many a period film and TV series. Situated behind the owner’s home, these holiday cottages offer comfortable accommodation with their own sitting-out areas.
Guests have shared use of the hot tub where views can be enjoyed towards Mount Hooley and over the South Tyne Valley. The changing landscape throughout the seasons makes for picturesque views all year round. After a day out exploring this delightful area, what better way to soak those tired limbs and relax.
This is a good base for exploring Tynedale and the North Pennines by foot, bicycle or car, with many places of interest to visit, including Alston’s narrow gauge railway, Pennine Pottery and local crafts. The Pennine Way runs past the door, with walks in all directions. Alston, with its quaint cobbled main street, has a range of individual shops, character inns, restaurants and tea rooms. Within the area is an historical Roman fort and tourists will enjoy the museums, exhibitions and sites along Hadrian’s Wall. The Lake District, Beamish Museum, Newcastle, the Metro Centre, Carlisle and the Scottish Borders are all within driving distance. Semi-detached Bodwi Isaf and detached Bodwi Bach offer a good holiday base from which to enjoy the attractions of the area. Abersoch, 1 mile, with its sandy beach and harbour is well worth a visit. There are several sandy beaches within two miles and good facilities for sailing, fishing, pony trekking and playing golf. Discover scenic walks from the door, Midgham Farm Copse lies at the end of a track within 40 acres of woodland along the Avon Valley path, which leads all the way from Christchurch to Salisbury. For those that like the outdoor lifestyle there is on-site archery, axe throwing and fishing in the River Avon (licence required). Nearby there is horse riding, and the New Forest Water Park. For those bringing dogs, there are plenty of excellent walks all around.
Places to visit include Alderholt Mill, which has a working watermill open to visitors, and Moors Valley Country Park and Forest, which has orienteering, cycle hire, golf, forest Segway, and more. Avon Heath Country Park, within easy driving distance, is ideal for keen ramblers. Fordingbridge and Ringwood both have a host of shops, cafés and eateries, and are nearby. These barn conversions are convenient for road links to the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, Christchurch Harbour and the coast, including Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth. Set in the grounds of the owner’s home, in rolling West Dorset countryside between the quaint historic abbey town of Sherborne and the market town of Dorchester, this spacious, single-storey barn conversion for two, with beams, is an ideal holiday location for lovely country walks, golf, and village pubs to wine and dine in, or for exploring many historic houses and attractions nearby and days out visiting the World Heritage Coast or Bath. This lovely, semi-detached pet friendly converted barn is on the outskirts of Dyffryn Ardudwy near Barmouth. Furnished to a good standard, the accommodation provides a perfect retreat for couples wanting to explore this part of rural Snowdonia. The open plan living area is well-equipped and has plenty of storage and worktop space, together with a breakfast bar, and there is a comfortable leather sofa and flatscreen Freeview TV in the living room. The bathroom is surprisingly generous and has a powerful shower, and the bedroom is also very comfortable and features a kingsize bed. With everything on the ground floor, you’ll find it offers easy access. Outside there’s a small patio area where you can relax with a glass of wine whilst enjoying the sea views. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Harlech and explore its impressive castle. Take leisurely walks from the door or spend a day at the nearby sandy beach at Morfa Dyffryn. Explore the Snowdonia National Park or why not bring your bike (or hire locally) and cycle along the old railway line to Dolgellau? Beach 1 mile. Shop 300 yards, pub and and restaurant ½ mile.

Just 5 miles from the attractive Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells and Rhayader’s spectacular red kite feeding station, these three warm and comfortable lodges – each of which boast its own blissful hot tub offering wonderful views – all enjoy a peaceful working farm setting. A nearby river offers informal angling and, for more serious fishing, the beautiful Elan Valley with its stunning reservoirs is the area’s main attraction. Close to Glyndwr’s Way, the Cistercian Way and Offa’s Dyke, this is wonderful walking, mountain biking and bird watching country, and an indoor play barn and adventure park, small breeds farm, indoor activity centre, cycle hire and pony trekking are among nearby delights. Rhayader is also home to the Welsh Royal Crystal factory, whilst Hereford’s Cathedral with its famous chained library and Mappa Mundi draws visitors from all over the world as does the nearby ‘book town’ of Hay-on-Wye. Dolphin spotting in Cardigan Bay and the golden sands of Aberdovey are easily within a day trip. There is a good selection of eating places in the area. Shop 3 miles, pub 1.5 miles.

Lindale is better known as the gateway to the south Lake District. With easily accessible routes from the M6 and A590, you are not far from anywhere. Just 2 miles down the road and you can find the popular Edwardian seaside resort town of Grange-over-Sands, with an abundance of shops, pubs and cafes; there is plenty to see and do. If visiting the seaside is of interest to you, why not head a little bit further out to Roanhead Beach near Ulverston or Humphrey Head?
Other close by popular towns include Cartmel, 4 miles, a traditional Cumbrian village famous for its sticky toffee pudding and race course. The towns of Kendal, 12 miles, Windermere, 13 miles, and Coniston, 20 miles, all have plenty to offer. The south Lake District is only a 10-minute drive away, with Newby Bridge nearby which is home to the Lakes Aquarium.
Whilst most people visit the area to walk, there are plenty of other outdoor activities on offer. There is a golf course within 2 miles, a leisure centre with swimming pool at Kendal, 12 miles, and at Grizedale Forest, 13 miles, there is mountain biking, Segways and the Go Ape treetop adventure.
