From the terrace, there are dramatic views of Grasmere lake and Loughrigg Fell. There is a small, unfenced pond and stream in the grounds, which is home to red squirrels and many species of birds, and where wild deer are also occasional visitors. Each apartment has its own allocated parking space, with private parking for 1 car specifically for visitors to The Old Coach House.
This homely holiday apartment retains all of its traditional charm for a peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable holiday in the heart of the Lake District. It is an excellent base for walking, with easy access to the fells, Alcock Tarn, and the famous ‘Coffin Route’ directly from the garden. There is a gentle downhill walk to Grasmere village (passing William Wordsworth’s home at Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Grasmere centre on the way), and from there are easy routes to both the lower and upper slopes of the village’s surrounding fells.
