There is a small, unfenced pond and stream in the grounds, which is home to red squirrels and many species of birds, and where wild deer are also occasional visitors. Each apartment has its own allocated parking space, with private parking for 1 car specifically for visitors to The Old Coach House.

    This homely holiday apartment retains all of its traditional charm for a peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable holiday in the heart of the Lake District. It is an excellent base for walking, with easy access to the fells, Alcock Tarn, and the famous ‘Coffin Route’ directly from the garden. There is a gentle downhill walk to Grasmere village (passing William Wordsworth’s home at Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Grasmere centre on the way), and from there are easy routes to both the lower and upper slopes of the village’s surrounding fells. In the village, you will find an attractive selection of bars and restaurants, and a wide variety of shops, including a small supermarket, post office, newsagent, chemist, baker, outdoor equipment retailers, gift and art shops, a garden centre and the famous Grasmere gingerbread shop. The graves of the poet William Wordsworth and his family are situated in St. Oswald’s parish churchyard.
