Woodbridge, EnglandLocated on the coastal road between Woodbridge and Snape in the Suffolk coastal area of outstanding beauty. This Victorian farm cottage was built in 1872 and is located close to many of the best tourist attractions in Suffolk.
The cottage is full of character being a period building, it has a beautiful log burner and traditional comfortable furnishings with a modern, contemporary and clean decor. There is a small bathroom downstairs with a bath and a powerful hot shower too, there are three spacious bedrooms although the cottage comfortably hosts up to four people. The garden is large with comfortable outdoor furniture for you to enjoy your coffee at sunrise and wine at sunset. A flock of curious, funny, welcoming and happy hens and a cockerel live on the property and lay THE BEST eggs for your breakfast, which you are welcome to collect and eat. If you could feed them each morning, the owner would greatly appreciate it.
There are so many attractions nearby such as the UFO walk in the well-known Rendlesham forest, the famous “Sutton Hoo” viking burial site (Netflix made a popular series about it) 5 minutes down the road. We are only 13 minutes away from the nearest beach, shingle street, and 18 minutes from Aldeburgh, a popular tourist destination. Bassenthwaite, England 5.00Prominently looking over the village green, and within touching distance of the Skiddaw massif, this link detached property is in the perfect location to explore the north western fells of the Lake District. Located in the heart of the village, with the village farm adjacent, the property offers access onto miles of quiet footpaths and local fells including little-known routes up Skiddaw and the back of the Blencathra massif. The beautiful beck, with its resident ducks, flows through the village and provides a great place for kids and dogs to cool off on warm days. The village is situated in the north of the Lake District National Park, and is also just a short drive to Carlisle and the Scottish borders - it couldn’t be easier to explore the area. Bassenthwaite is a real community village which hosts an annual duck race, frequent pub quizzes and a vibrant, active local church arranging village fates, sports days and even Morris dancing. This beautiful cottage is just over a mile away from Bassenthwaite Lake, where fishing and sailing are available, or for nature lovers a walk up to the osprey viewpoints is well worth the effort. The property is ideally located for cyclists, with rides including the C2C and Cumbria Way routes, along with off-road trails at nearby Whinlatter Forest. However you choose to spend your stay, this is a perfect location to make the most of the Lake District. Beaworthy, England 5.00The Woodshed is the former timber store to Buckland Mill, which was converted into its current incarnation in 2019 by the current owners. It is in a beautifully peaceful and private forest clearing which after a short drive through it gloriously comes into sight! There is ample parking available to the front of the barn and as you enter you are greeted by the characterful open plan living room with plenty of seating and a cosy wood burner. The beautiful beech and copper staircase, with wood sourced from the woodland, leads to the first floor and two lovely bedrooms comprising a double and a kingsize, both with quality, modern en-suite shower rooms. Back downstairs, the dining area and modern, well-equipped kitchen are both framed by a lovely, exposed stone wall. The whole of the ground floor also benefits from underfloor heating.
Heading out from the kitchen, there is a warm tiled hallway which is perfect for keeping your outdoor accessories and walking boots and there’s access to a separate toilet and a handy enclosed courtyard area with a dog shower. The hallway can also double up as a peaceful retreat where you can sit and relax. Outside, you can enjoy roaming the vast 25 acres of pasture and woodland where domestic sheep and wild deer can sometimes be seen grazing. The grouinds boast an amazing varierty of birdlife including owls, woodpeckers, pheasants, Canada geese, moorhens and indeed everything from the smallest of finches to large birds of prey. Mr Fox is also a frequent visitor! Solitude is plentiful - you can simply relax just up a few steps in the private lawned area, or if you are feeling more sociable, sit by the firepit with a drink in hand. Should you be the ‘energetic sort’, there is a pétanque piste, which will inevitably require a healthy supply of wine to appreciate the ambience! The property has 25 acres (approximately 50% pasture land and 50% woodland) which guests are welcome to roam on. The small lawn behind the barn is the only private area though. The rest is shared with the owner when they are present next door and there is a public right of way through the forest.
The Woodshed is approximately 7 miles from Great Torrington and 14 miles south of the port town of Bideford and just 20 miles from the Cornish coastal town of Bude to the West. Devon is famed for its fantastic natural attractions such as Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, and the former with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’, many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton & Lynmouth, Ilfracombe and the world-famous Clovelly Village in North Devon and King Arthur’s Tintagel and many other North Cornwall coastal villages - all with awe-inspiring scenery.
With its selection of stunning beaches it will leave you spoilt for choice with award winning stretches of sand like Saunton, Woolacombe and Croyde and not far from Bideford is Westward Ho! Beach. Bala, WalesThis spacious chapel may have high ceilings but there’s no need to worry about it being chilly, with underfloor heating throughout the ground floor it’s lovely and toasty. Bethel is just under 10 minutes from the centre of Bala, surrounded by the dramatic landscape of the Snowdonia National Park, this makes a great base from which to explore the area. The historic town of Bala has a wide range of cafés and restaurants and an award-winning butcher, people travel for miles for their pork pies! You’ll also find a leisure centre with swimming pool and sports hall. There are water sports both on the lake, Llyn Tegid and close by at the White-Water Rafting Centre, as well as a golf course.
Take a trip along the lake on the 2ft narrow gauge steam trains, a 9-mile trip taking in some breath-taking scenery along the way. This area is surrounded by the rural region of Penllyn, with mountains, forests, waterfalls, and many lakes, perfect for avid kayakers and paddle boarders. Penllyn’s main mountain ranges - Aran, Arenig and Berwyn – rival those of other parts of Snowdonia but are not as crowded. Hundreds of miles of footpaths and bridleways give access to spectacular places no matter what time of year you visit.
