This stylish, contemporary detached holiday property is wonderfully situated down a quiet lane in the heart of rural Tayside, on a working livestock farm, yet just 3 miles from the city of Dundee with all its attractions. The stunning floor to ceiling windows in the living area make the most of the scenic views over the countryside towards the River Tay and patio doors from the dining area give guests easy access to the lovely patio area, ideal for al fresco living. The cosy wood burner in the living area supplements the already efficient heating, making it an ideal choice throughout the year.
The very convenient location offers plenty of opportunity to explore the surroundings: there are good hill walks from the door, the Piperdam leisure complex with pool, spa facilities and renowned golf course is just 3 miles, Perth and Dundee are both easily reached, as are St Andrews, Carnoustie and Glasgow. The local tennis courts, which are located just ½ mile away, are available to guests, free of charge with all equipment provided. Dundee has plenty of shopping and other excellent leisure facilities including Discovery Point, a 5-star visitor attraction chronicling Captain Scott’s journey to the Antarctic on the research ship ‘Discovery’. Other interesting days out could include the V&A Museum, an excellent museum of art and design, hill walking in one of the five Angus Glens with their stunning hill and loch scenery approximately an hour’s drive away, golf at one of the many other superb courses in the area, horse riding, fishing, skiing at Glenshee and sailing. There is also an all-weather tennis court 1 mile away. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

Situated on a bank of the South Esk this stunning house, with recently upgraded Wi-Fi, is a wonderful place for multi generation celebration parties of up to ten adults and four children. Sorry no hot tubs, stag or hen parties allowed but adult groups of walkers, golfers, fishermen and those keen to explore all that Angus has to offer are most welcome as well as up to two well behaved dogs.
On the ground floor one end of the L shaped living area has a well equipped kitchen, a breakfast bar and a large dining table. Next to this is the atrium which is divided from the television area by a double sided wood burning stove; the chairs in the former can be stacked to make a large play space. There is also a shower room and an utility area with a washing machine and storage with extra kitchen equipment. The playroom is full of toys for small children and has an air hockey table and exercise bike for older ones. A good selection of books, games and puzzles to suit all tastes is spread around the house. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms with king size beds, and a third with two singles, as well as a bathroom and a separate shower room. There is also a drawing room either for those wishing a bit of peace and quiet or for a cosy get together for adults in the evening. The second floor has another two bedrooms with king size beds which have the possibility of having two full sized single beds made up in each one. There is also a bathroom on this floor. Up to three cots can be provided at no extra charge as well as everything a baby could possibly need.
The garden has separate areas. In front of the house is a good spot for the barbecue convenient for the large table with a parasol. This has uninterrupted views of the river as it is separated from the field beyond by a ha ha with steps down to the lower level. There is a raised area behind the house for enjoying the views up and down the river and a large enclosed play area with swings, slide, large trampoline, playhouse and sandpit for smaller children. For older ones there are Ninja and slack lines, a football net and rebounder, badminton set, boules, Molke and a swing ball to name but a few of the activities to be found. Team games and obstacle courses are very popular amongst our guests. Dark skies make it an ideal place for star gazing.
Angus has enough variety to suit every taste from its beautiful hills, beaches, salmon rivers, trout lakes, golf courses, gin and whisky distilleries and adventure parks galore as well as its many indoor attractions. If art and culture appeal to you Dundee, Perth and Aberdeen all have museums, art galleries and theatres as well as many good restaurants. Glamis castle, where the late Queen mother was born, is a popular attraction as are the several National Trust properties within easy reach. Crathes and Drum castles are only an hour away over the Cairn o’ Mount which must be one of the most beautiful drives in Scotland. Although secluded the house is only 3/4 of a mile from the Drover’s inn, an excellent pub and restaurant, and 5 miles from Kirriemuir the birthplace of J M Barrie. If golf is your sport a course can be found there as well as ones in Brechin, Edzel, Forfar and at Carnoustie. Fishing rights do not belong to the house and permits must be booked well in advance from Inshewan Estates for the beat below the house, Finavon Castle Fishings further down the river or Cortachy for the beat above. An email with places of interest is sent out to people before they come to stay and there is a large selection of leaflets about local attractions to be found in the house.

This charming semi-detached traditional cottage is set in a quiet street in the lovely village of Edzell. Totally refurbished, it offers relaxing holiday accommodation for families or couples with excellent walking in the Angus Glens almost on the doorstep. Arthur’s Cottage is close to amenities such as shops and eating places, as well as a quality parkland 18-hole golf course, which are all within a short stroll.
The village is part of the Victorian Heritage Trail which passes through Fettercairn with its gothic arch and local distillery (where tours can be taken) up through Cairn o’ Mount and into Royal Deeside, ending at Balmoral Castle. The clean sandy beaches at St Cyrus and Montrose are within easy reach or if you prefer, travel a little further afield to St Andrews, Dundee or Perth for more varied days out. There is ample fishing and golf in the area as well as some good eating places or why not visit some of the stately homes, notably Glamis Castle or Scone Palace near Perth. Beach 12 miles. This delightful bungalow sits in a wonderful sunny position in the village of Panbride on the outskirts of Carnoustie. The cosy interior is comfortable and well furnished, and surrounded by attractive gardens, which ensures a relaxing break at any time. Plenty of cycle paths run along the shore line just a short distance from the property, and there are many walking opportunities along the coastal path or inland in one of the five Angus Glens.
Carnoustie itself has much to offer the visitor aside from golf (the famous course is a short distance away, with another three nearby), with a sandy beach, tennis courts, putting and parks, not to mention shops, eating places and cafés all within easy reach of the house.
An ideal place for touring, the cities of Dundee, Perth and Aberdeen are all within striking distance for enjoyable days out and can all be reached by rail from the town itself. Alternatively, meander up the coast towards Montrose where small fishing communities can be found strung out along the rugged coastline. The historic port of Arbroath is just 5 miles away where you can buy fresh and smoked fish daily. A golfers paradise, as well as the famous championship course there are many other golf courses in the area – St Andrews is within a short drive of the town. The area has much else to offer including excellent beaches and a large selection of castles and country houses, notably Glamis Castle.

Montrose is a pleasant market town with lots of interesting avenues and closes, many of which have a story to tell about the history of the place.
Situated halfway between Dundee and Aberdeen it is an ideal place to make the most of the diverse attractions of the east coast. The town itself boasts a wonderful sandy beach with a great children’s play area and the wide links between the coast and the town are the setting for its two good golf courses. Sitting on the edge of the Montrose Basin, an almost enclosed estuary of the River Esk which flows out through the bustling harbour to the sea, it is renowned for its wildlife centre. Every autumn, watch the stunning spectacle of thousands of pink footed geese arriving from Scandinavia to spend the winter here.
