The spacious double bedroom also has lake views and is the perfect spot to lay in bed with a cup of tea in the morning and watch the boats on the lake.
Set in the Mendips, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, walks for miles can be enjoyed from the doorstep and the area is perfect for mountain biking, climbing, horse riding or fishing. Just a short walk away is the beautiful Blagdon Lake with its miles of walks, stroll down and explore the Yeo Valley Organic Dairy with its Organic Garden. The nearby city of Wells has a fabulous local market and beautiful cathedral to visit as well as independent and larger shops to enjoy. Head into Cheddar and sample some local cheese, walk the reservoir loop or take a drive through the gorge!
For some ancient Roman architecture, head over to Bath and sample the delights that can be found there. If a day by the sea is what you fancy, the traditional seaside town of Weston-super-Mare is always a winner with its grand pier and donkey rides! Longleat is well worth a visit, and the city of Bristol, with the SS Great Britain and Clifton Suspension Bridge, is within easy reach.

Suitable for either active breaks, with walking on the Mendip Hills and the wildlife of the Somerset Levels, or just to relax in comfort. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need and the island unit opens it up to the rest of the room, so you can socialise while creating your next culinary masterpiece! The large Master bedroom on the ground floor has a stunning four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath and separate shower, while upstairs the second large bedroom features a wonderful kingsize bespoke bed, beautiful beamed vaulted ceiling and statement lighting. There is also a shower room upstairs with walk-in shower.
Outside you will find a Mediterranean style covered seating area complete with its own chandelier, barbecue area and private hot tub, all soaking up the wonderful views!
Set in the lovely village of Bishopswood, with the Somerset Wildlife Trust running adjacent to the property, you are only 5-minutes’ walk from the local pub and surrounded by miles of beautiful walks. The market town of Honiton is just 10 miles away and the beach at Lyme Regis can be reached within a 30-minute drive. Heading north, you will find the county town of Taunton with lots of restaurants, cinema, bowling and shopping, and within an hour’s drive you will find Glastonbury, Street, Minehead and the moors of Exmoor! This attractive stone built holiday cottage, in the grounds of the owner’s home, is on the edge of the pretty village of Wookey Hole, famous for its spectacular caves and legendary home of the infamous Witch of Wookey. There are many leisure activities available locally, including pot-holing, hang gliding and mountain biking. There is also a huge choice of walks from the doorstep, including the Monarch’s Way and the Mendip Way. The town of Glastonbury is only a few miles away, with its 14th-century tower dominating the landscape of Glastonbury Tor. Shop, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

Barrowswood, a semi-detached holiday cottage (ref 29842), enjoys commanding views over Cheddar Gorge in the distance. Its large garden adjoins a field with occasional visiting sheep and is the perfect spot in which to relax and unwind. Strawberry Lodge (ref 29841) stands detached at the far end of the grounds of Barrowswood, enjoying woodland surroundings with magnificent views over the field and across to Cheddar Gorge. Blackberry Lodge (ref W44121) is a single-storey, detached lodge, ideal for a romantic retreat for couples. All three properties may be booked together should you have a larger party.
Cheddar village offers plenty of interesting shops and cafes as well as other attractions. Cheddar Gorge, Britain’s largest limestone ravine gouged through the Mendips, is a magnet for climbers, walkers and visitors to the floodlit caves and Cheddar Reservoir is a great place to take a picnic, look out for wildlife and join in activities such as sailing and angling. Axbridge is a charming market town with a medieval square and half-timbered buildings, whilst Wookey Hole attracts many visitors to the showcaves. Wells is England’s smallest city set around a cathedral; Wedmore is a lively town with many individual shops and eateries, Glastonbury is famous for its music festival, spiritual culture and King Arthur legends, and the coastal resorts and magnificent beaches at Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean are all within a short drive, as are the cities of Bath and Bristol. Welcome to Mudhorse Cottage, a beautiful one bedroomed cottage less than a minute’s walk to the beach and the South West coastal path. Mudhorse Cottage has an interesting history, previously being the last Mudhorse Fisherman’s Cottage in the UK, with subtle nods to this reflected throughout including many books detailing the unique thousand-year-old traditional fishing. Completely refurbished in 2022 to a high standard, you enter the porch which has a fabulous map which the owners have thoughtfully plotted out places of interest and great local spots to eat out.
From here you head into the spacious open plan living/dining/kitchen area, the latter being very well equipped. The comfortable dining area opens onto the lounge which has a gorgeous wood burner for winter months. A further snug with sofa bed makes a wonderful reading room or chill space with smart TV and a stunning stained-glass window depicting the last Mud-horse Fisherman who lived in the property. The lovely bedroom has a super king-size bed and plenty of storage, and a fabulous bathroom with roll top bath and shower. Outside to the front is a patio seating area with a lovely pond and water feature, while to the rear, a lawned garden with BBQ and sun loungers, the perfect space to lay back, relax and enjoy the quiet after a day exploring.
Step outside the property and within 50 yards you are at Stolford Sea front and common land, perfect for dogs and humans to stretch their legs and soak in the sea air along the pebble and sandy beach. The coastal path here leads to Steart Marshes (WWT) a thriving nature reserve a little further on there is the village of Combwich where you can enjoy a pub lunch or in the opposite direction the path takes you to Kilve a place of special scientific interest. For a more traditional seaside atmosphere, head East to Burnham on Sea or Weston Super Mare with the latter having the great pier packed with amusements as well as lots of shops and restaurants to choose from. To the West a short drive takes you to Watchet a pretty harbour town, Dunster with its Castle and Minehead and North Devon with the beautiful Exmoor National Park. Stolford is nestled only a few miles from The Quantock Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Bridgwater and Taunton are within easy reach with its many shops, bars, and restaurants and its train station which has direct links to Bristol, Cardiff and south to Penzance, so you will be spoilt for choice for days out!

Both properties have super kingsize beds that can be made into twins on request and the en-suite bathroom has a fabulous walk in shower with rainfall shower head. Outside, you have private parking with electric vehicle charging point, a gorgeous seating area with views across the fields and the sound of the river running next door to you will relax you while you drink in the views.
Mudford is a lovely village set on the outskirts of the popular town of Yeovil, with a fabulous farm shop nearby offering delicious local produce and a 17th century inn serving wonderful meals are both within a 10-minute walk. Further afield, Yeovil has a great selection of shops, bars, and restaurants to explore and enjoy. The National Trust properties of Montacute House, Lytes Cary Manor and Tintinhull Garden are within a 15-minute drive. Ham Hill County Park is wonderful for walks, offers spectacular views from the monument and has a fabulous country pub service local food, cider and ales. Langport is within easy reach with its River Parrett trail or head to Glastonbury for some ancient medieval history and eclectic shops.

Welcome to Staple Hill House, a fabulous 5-bedroom, characterful detached property set in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the glorious Somerset countryside with views extending as far as the Quantock Hills yet only 10 minutes’ drive from the county town of Taunton. This spacious, beautifully decorated holiday home really has something for everyone, making the property great for families or friends looking to escape to the country together.
Downstairs you will find the large kitchen which comes fully equipped with all you could need to cook everything from a simple meal to a huge dinner for all your party. Off the kitchen is the large dining room which has an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner (ornamental effect only), large table plus a snug corner with sofa and TV and enjoys views over the garden. The spacious living room also has a gorgeous wood burner as well as plenty of seating for everyone. There are five bedrooms in total, three which feature en-suite facilities. With one bedroom being on the ground floor making it ideal for up to 2 guests with limited mobility who prefer not to have to go upstairs to bed.
Outside you have a wonderful private hot tub area and a large private, fully enclosed lawned garden that wraps around the house with furniture and barbecue giving you plenty of space for the children to run around or to just sit back, relax and enjoy the fresh Somerset air!
Staple Hill House has its own entrance gate and is located next to the owner’s private stables. The immediate area is a walker’s or cyclist’s paradise with routes in every direction and offers easy access to the Staple Fitzpaine Herepath, a shared cycle and walking bridleway with a network of marked trails through forestry and open land of varying lengths to suit everyone and forms in total a 13 mile loop around the village of Staple Fitzpaine. The route primarily follows a series of off road tracks through wooded areas including Staple Park Wood, Piddle Wood and Birkenhall Wood. Castle Neroche and Staple Hill parks being of particular note where great walks and views can be enjoyed. Just ¾ of a mile away is the wonderful Greyhound Inn, a great country pub serving food and drinks, or a short drive takes you to a fabulous Italian restaurant as well as more amazing local inns!
The county town of Taunton is around 10 minutes’ drive away and has a host of shops, restaurants, and entertainment facilities. National Trust properties surround the area and the Great Somerset Steam Railway from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead is a must do for kids and adults. The seaside town of Lyme Regis on The Jurassic coast just over the Dorset border is a little over half an hour’s drive away. Shop 5 miles. Pub ¾ of a mile, restaurant 3 miles.
