Upstairs, you’ll be wowed by 360 degree views of the valley with each window framing a different part, immersing you in one of the most spectacular and beautiful limestone landscapes in the country, whilst snuggled up in front of the wood burner.
The open plan living space on the first floor features a brand new, fully fitted kitchen with Bosch appliances, as well as a dining area and living area. Here you will also find the piano used by previous owners to rehearse with the local choir. Outside, the garden has been beautifully landscaped to create two sitting areas at either side of the house so you can follow the sun all day. There is a garage, perfect for storing your bikes.
The pièce de résistance is the original well, which has been uncovered and fitted with lights so you can see 100 feet down to the bottom at night, a truly unique feature. The pretty village of Starbotton is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with a cluster of stone built, chocolate box cottages surrounding the friendly local pub, a mere 2 minutes’ walk away. The Fox and Hounds is the heart of the local community, offering high quality, hearty dining, with well-kept local ales in a relaxed, dog friendly atmosphere. There are many walks right from your very doorstep including the Dales Way, accessed by a connecting footpath leading down to the River Wharfe, which is just 300 yards away. Syke Cottage, dating back to the 1700s, is furnished to a high standard and generously equipped with everything you will need for a relaxing holiday. The cottage retains its original charm while offering a high level of comfort with a modern country style.
The fully-equipped kitchen with an adjoining dining area provides thoughtful extras such as air fryer, slow cooker, coffee machine and juicer. The attractive lounge offers the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the Dales. The Ercol sofas invite you to unwind in front of the wood burner or indulge in a boxset or film on the large Smart TV with Netflix. The cottage has the added benefit of a cosy snug with a TV, Netflix, Wii games console and a great supply of board games. The stunning garden room with a vaulted ceiling offers a second dining area overlooking the patio. Syke Cottage is nestled in a quiet location just off the scenic village green, which is the perfect spot to soak up the breath-taking views while children play on the playground or football pitch. Within the village there is a fantastic tearoom, a small grocery store, a garage, a butcher, a tea-room/bakery and a twice-weekly Post Office. The 15th-century pub serves food and local ales, and a 2 AA rosette restaurant on the edge of the village offers fine dining.
Bainbridge is a central base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales. There is a variety of boutique shops, pubs and eateries in nearby Hawes (less than 10 mins drive), not least the renowned Wensleydale Creamery with its specialist cheese shop, museum and restaurant. For walkers and cyclists, there are routes leading off from Bainbridge in all directions. Semerwater, perfect for picnicking, swimming and boating, is only 2 miles away and easily reached by foot or by car. Head over to the famous Buttertubs and pass into Swaledale for yet more breath-taking scenery. Heading in the opposite direction towards the market town of Leyburn you will pass through a multitude of picture postcard villages and historic attractions. Aysgarth Falls, Bolton Castle, The Forbidden Corner and a ride on the Wensleydale steam railway (to name but a few) all make for great days out. Local amenities including a shop, pub and café are all within a few minutes’ walk of Syke Cottage.

The Farmhouse has a spacious farmhouse kitchen which is the focal point of the house, where guests can gather around the central island and cosy up in winter months in front of the range fireplace. Superbly equipped with all the necessary appliances and accessories. The stylish living room is warm and welcoming, with a wood burner and comfortable sofas and French doors leading out to the patio area. Whether it’s casual dining and a glass of wine in the kitchen, or more formal dining in the dining room, this property caters for your every need. Upstairs the large bedrooms are beautifully furnished with super comfortable beds. The first, a kingsize has a Smart TV and views looking down across the Dales. The second a super kingsize has Smart TV and dual aspect windows with beautiful views and shares a Jack and Jill style bathroom with the third double room. All bedrooms have views over the Dale. There is a luxurious family bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower cubicle.
Outside there are several areas to sit and enjoy the day. To the rear French doors lead out onto a flagged patio area, set with table and chairs where you can sit and watch the horses as they graze in the paddock. There is a further patio area to the front with garden furniture, and a large front lawn which is shared with The Barn. For guests bringing their furry friends the property extends to two paddocks directly across the road which is ideal for dog walking.
Situated in the picturesque village of West Witton and within walking distance of the village store, tea rooms and post office. With its highly acclaimed restaurant The Wensleydale Heiffer a short stroll away this makes a perfect choice for a special celebration. For those looking to explore the great outdoors, there are walks and cycle routes straight from the doorstep. With numerous attractions to visit, the stunning waterfalls at Aysgarth Falls or Hawes with its quirky shops and cafés and the famous Wensleydale Creamery. In the opposite direction visit the picturesque village of Middleham and its famous castle, enjoy the sights as the racehorses ride to and from the gallops each day or sit it in the village square and enjoy a coffee as you watch the world go by. A little further and you will reach the bustling market town of Leyburn with a host of interesting shops, restaurants and cafés all set around the market square and of course Friday is market day and a chance to snap up some of the gorgeous local produce.
