Holly’s Lodge is situated in the upper Eden Valley nestling between Appleby and Kirkby Stephen at the foot of the Cumbrian Pennines, and conveniently located adjacent to and just off the trans-Pennine trunk road (A66). This makes the location an excellent touring base for exploring the Yorkshire and Durham Dales to the east, and the Lake District National Park to the west.
This detached holiday lodge provides accommodation of a very good standard, is tastefully furnished, very comfortable and well equipped, enjoys countryside views and a lovely setting on a no through lane within a small, rural caravan park. The park encourages wildlife and has a conservation pond with a wide variety of birds in the surrounding woodlands and there are frequent visits from roe deer.

This is a wonderful base for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. Less than a mile away, main roads give access to the myriad attractions and stunning landscapes of the Lake District National Park, Yorkshire Dales and County Durham, and the shops, pubs and restaurants of Brough are also only 1 mile away. The larger town of Kirkby Stephen, 5 miles, has a supermarket and variety of gift shops, cafés, a tourist information office, library and station for the Carlisle/Settle railway. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. The tarn is an ideal place for recreation, group activities or a quiet stroll through the mature woodlands. Walby Farm Park is ideal for families and Lanercost Priory is also within close proximity. Whilst there, enjoy afternoon tea or lunch at the café where your dog is welcome too.
No stay in Cumbria is complete without visiting Hadrian’s Wall, an iconic monument built by the Romans. Stretching 73 miles from Wallsend near Newcastle, across the neck of England to the Solway coast in North West Cumbria. Why not walk alongside a stretch of the wall or cycle along the well-known Coast to Coast (C2C) route? Take a drive and within 20 minutes you can be in the beautiful border city of Carlisle, with its array of high street shopping. Within 30 minutes you could be over the border into Scotland or the Lake District National Park. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
