Weddings have taken place in Gretna Green for over 250 years and Mount Farm – The Stables is only a stone’s throw away – the perfect end to a perfect day!

Ellerton Croft is a delightful country house set on a working farm in the heart of the beautiful Cumbrian countryside. Ellerton Croft has been completely renovated and upgraded in Spring 2022 and is the ideal place for all the family to get away and enjoy. Beautifully decorated throughout, the Sitting Room has patio doors opening onto the garden and for the chillier evenings there is a lovely woodburner. The large family kitchen/dining is the hub of the house where all the family can gather to enjoy a meal reminiscing over your day’s activities. Or why not just enjoy time chilling in the hot tub perhaps with a glass of wine!!
Ellerton Croft is ideally located and very easily accessed from both the north and the south making it the perfect place for friends to meet up and enjoy the beautiful Cumbrian countryside. From Ellerton Croft you can enjoy all the delights of the Lake District National Park from the majestic mountains to the glorious Lakes, the Eden Valley and Hadrian’s Wall as well as a trip over the border to Scotland. Close to the border city of Carlisle with its historic Castle and popular market town of Penrith with its many independent shops and restaurants.

Set in a quiet, rural location, this barn conversion, adjacent to the owner’s home and set on a working beef farm, provides spacious holiday accommodation. It is full of character and charm, with original beams and exposed stonework throughout. Well-equipped, it is always warm and cosy, and has been tastefully furnished in a homely, cottage style, and also boasts a garden that looks out over lovely views. The property is set at the end of a private lane, yet Carlisle and Hadrian’s Wall are only a short drive away. There are excellent links for those wishing to explore the Lake District, Newcastle and the Scottish Borders. The market town of Brampton is 5 miles away. Shop 5 miles, pub 1½ miles, restaurant 2½ miles.

Kimberdale Lodge is spacious and beautifully situated. Set in large gardens with a picturesque, rural outlook in the peaceful Cumbrian countryside. It is flooded with light from the floor-to-ceiling patio doors which open out from the open plan living space. Kimberdale Lodge oozes space and style from its modern and fully equipped kitchen to the living area with comfortable leather sofas, where you can sit and relax overlooking the garden. The bedrooms boasts comfortable beds and quality linen whilst the sleek shower room boasts a large walk-in shower. The covered area to the rear of the lodge is particularly handy for all your wet weather gear – we do sometimes get rain here in Cumbria!
Whilst Kimberdale Lodge is set in a rural area you are only a short drive from Carlisle and the M6 motorway, making it the ideal base to explore the surrounding area which includes the Lake District National Park, not to mention the world famous Hadrian’s Wall which is basically on your doorstep. Surrounded by miles of quiet country lanes it’s the perfect location for a walk or a bike ride, perhaps stopping off at some of the local village pubs on your way. Just a short drive south of the Scottish Border, and close to the Solway Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where you can spot a fantastic array of wildlife. The border city of Carlisle also has plenty to see and do including the castle, Tullie House Museum and a whole host of shops, cafés and restaurants.

The Old Dairy Cottage is a charming little cottage which has been completely refurbished in 2023 and retains delightful original features. Converted from an old dairy, the open plan living, kitchen and dining area has exposed beams and a lovely feature in the bedroom is the exposed original stonework. From the garden and conservatory there are wonderful views where you can sit and enjoy whatever the weather.
Set on the edge of the small village of Ainstable there are wonderful walks from your doorstep, along quiet country lanes and along the beautiful River Eden only a mile away. Ainstable is a quiet little Cumbrian village with a local pub and restaurant and just over a mile away is Armathwaite, where you can jump on the Settle to Carlisle railway line, a really beautiful journey. The wonderful Cumbrian countryside is just waiting to be explored from the historical site of Hadrian’s Wall, with its rich history and dramatic landscape, to the majestic mountains and lakes of the Lake District National Park, a World Heritage Site.
A short drive will take you over the border to Scotland, to the beautiful beaches of Dumfries and Galloway and the stunning Solway Coast. The beautiful border city of Carlisle is a short drive away or a scenic trip on the Settle to Carlisle railway line, where you can visit the castle or just take in some retail therapy at some of the high street shops.

Old Byre Cottage and Fell View Cottage are two semi-detached barn conversions having been beautifully refurbished in 2023. They nestle in the stunning Cumbrian countryside and are flooded with light from the floor-to-ceiling windows and patio doors. Both have been tastefully renovated and offer all the necessities to ensure a memorable stay. The open plan living/dining/kitchen area is modern and bright and tastefully decorated, while the bedrooms boast sumptuous beds and crisp linen. The master bedroom has an en-suite and there is a modern and sleek family bathroom as well.
Old Byre Cottage and Fell View Cottage are set amongst the rolling Cumbrian countryside on a quiet country lane, yet are only a short drive from the market towns of both Brampton and Longtown where you will find a variety of shops, cafés and pubs. Cleugh Foot is a stunning cottage, one of the original buildings on the Netherby Estate, overlooking acres of parkland along the River Esk. This distinctive pink coloured cottage has been recently renovated in 2022 and really is a wonderful bolthole for you to enjoy an amazing holiday in an amazing location.

Whilst you have the seclusion at Cleugh Foot you are not far from an abundance of local attractions and are situated between the Lake District and Northumberland National Parks. Hadrian’s Wall is a must or for something more energetic, explore the Border Reivers Cycle Route, where you can explore the region’s fascinating history on ‘The Reivers Trail’. Cleugh Foot is only a few miles from the border over into Scotland where you can discover miles of stunning sandy beaches along the Solway Coast. There is so much to fill your days in this beautiful countryside, then come home to Cleugh Foot and relax in your hot tub while taking in the stunning sunsets! Beach 22 miles. Solway Marsh view is a delightful rural cottage attached to the owner’s farmhouse, yet is completely private. Upstairs is a spacious master bedroom, a twin room with custom made bunk beds and a modern bathroom. Outside, Solway Marsh View has a secluded garden with the most delightful views over the River Eden onto the Lake District fells.

From the garden you can walk out of the garden gate and straight onto the river side with access to walks not publicly available. Or take a 15-minute walk to the village pub which serves delicious food!
The Lake District, Solway Coast, historic Carlisle and the Scottish Borders with Gretna Green are within easy reach, and Carlisle train station is 15 minutes away. There are lots of beautiful walks on the doorstep, including Hadrian’s Wall a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can explore the history of the wall and its dramatic landscape at over 20 fascinating sites, as well as the coastal path (routes and directions can be provided). Due to its location on the banks of the River Eden and Solway Firth, it is a birdwatchers’ and animal enthusiasts’ paradise. From the garden or your bed you will both see and hear ducks, geese, swans and many other breeds of birds flying up and down the river onto the Solway Firth. Whilst you have the tranquillity at the property you are only minutes by car from the M6 thereby ideally placed to enjoy one of the most beautiful regions in the UK. From here you can not only enjoy the beauty of this area but also a quick drive will take you over the border into Scotland with its miles of dramatic coastline.
Whilst staying at Solway Marsh View explore the many delights of Cumbria, a must is a visit is the beauty of the Lake District National Park with its stunning mountains and lakes. Close by, of course, is the beautiful border city of Carlisle with its 12th-century cathedral and 11th-century castle, it’s a lovely city to explore and of course, great for a spot of retail therapy.
