Rowanburn Lodge, a detached lodge, is beautifully situated overlooking Duke’s Pond, in a small, private development located close to Greystoke, with many benefits such as free Wi-Fi and an outdoor decked area. The area is a haven for wildlife, including red squirrels, hares, roe deer and many species of birds. There is a red squirrel box on the decking with food for the friendly squirrels to feast on.
This holiday lodge is situated centrally between Keswick, Penrith, Carlisle and Ullswater making it an ideal location for exploring the northern Lake District and Cumbria. The countryside surrounding the lodge is unspoilt, with Greystoke Forest on one side and stunning views to Blencathra on the other. Nearby are the charming villages of Greystoke, Caldbeck and Hesketh Newmarket with their own pubs and local shops. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

Here you can ride the steamers on Lake Windermere to Ambleside or Lakeside. Grab an ice cream, feed the ducks, hire a boat, play mini golf, or play in the arcades. There’s so much to do and of course you are in the heart of The Lake District National Park, so if you love the outdoors, you’re in the right place. Located in the beautiful and tranquil Eden Valley, Delmonte is on the outskirts of Langwathby, with its train station on the fabulous Carlisle to Settle line, a lovely local pub, which serves both excellent food and is just a short stroll away from the cottage. This ground floor bungalow has large airy rooms and with its elevated position, comes with fantastic views onto the village and onto the peaks of the Lake District. The Eden Valley nestles between the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North Pennines, Cumbria’s ‘hidden gem’, which maintains the illusion of untouched remoteness despite its extremely accessible location. There is superb walking and fishing locally. Penrith, Alston and Ullswater are all under 15 miles away, and Hadrian’s Wall is just 20 miles away. Pub, restaurant and train station ¼ mile.

Yewtree House is an impressive Holiday home of considerable size and will comfortably accommodate up to 16 guests, with a large dining table. The house is easily accessible, only 5 minutes drive from the M6 in the village of Tirril, and lies only 3 miles from Ullswater and Pooley Bridge and 3 miles from Penrith. The pub in Tirril is within easy walking distance and provides a restaurant and small shop. Bar meals are served throughout the day. A mile away in Yanwath is another pub restaurant renowned for its cuisine.
Tirril Lodge sits in spacious grounds with views over open countryside to both the front and rear. Activities available locally include pony trekking at Sockbridge and a variety of water sports on Ullswater, including sailing instruction, as well as some of the best fell walking in the Lake District. The house is ideally situated for exploring both the northern and southern lakes and fells. Situated just 2½ miles from the beautiful scenery of Ullswater, you can enjoy a trip around the lake on a steamer and visit the impressive waterfall at Aira Force. A spectacular journey along the shores of Ullswater and over the Kirkstone Pass takes you to Lake Windermere. At the head of Derwentwater and 15 miles from Sockbridge, lies the town of Keswick with its lovely parks and selection of coffee, gift and outdoor shops.

Ready for a unique experience? This Canadian timber lodge gives you direct views to the beautiful Alpacas, grazing right in front of your lodge. Easy access to Ennerdale, St Bees, Loweswater and The Lake District National Park.
The Alpaca Lodge offers premium accommodation for couples and families. Situated on a small holding, you will find Alpacas, Mediterranean donkeys, hens and horses. The native red squirrels often make an appearance, roe deer and even the badgers at night-time.
From here you can enjoy direct views to the Alpacas, these curious creatures provide endless entertainment, they are playful, cute, and intriguing. The owners offer meet and greet with the animals and Alpaca Walking, which can be pre-booked.
Local facilities include Ennerdale Brewery, with its real ale tap room and restaurant, and a pub which serves good pub food, both just ¼ mile down the road, and a good shop is 2½ miles away. At the end of the drive is a footpath leading into the Marron Leys Woodlands. This is a lovely mix of managed woodland and open grassy areas, ideal for a short stroll, plus your dogs will love it. The lodge is in the village of Rowrah, on the fringe of The Lake District National Park between Cockermouth and Ennerdale. Within 2 miles is the National Park with its abundance of walks, cycle routes, wildlife, mountains, and lakes.
The property offers easy access to explore the Western Lake District and coast, and you have a couple of pubs and restaurants nearby. The nearest lake is Ennerdale Water, about 4 miles away. Widely regarded as one of the most unspoilt areas of The Lake District National Park, Ennerdale is teeming with wildlife, including indigenous red squirrels, ospreys, and buzzards. Loweswater is less than 6 miles away, leading on to Crummock Water and Buttermere. The scenery around this unspoilt part of The Lakes is stunning, and the beauty, colours and unforgettable panoramic views are magnificent.
Whether you want an easy stroll, a challenging walk, or a serious climb, this makes a great base from which to start your adventures. For outdoor lovers, you can easily access Ennerdale, one of the most unspoilt and wild parts of the Lake District, here you can tick off many of the 214 Wainwright fells, so it’s a great base for fell walking.Rowrah is home to a very popular go karting track, ¾ mile away, which is one of the best in the UK if you want an adrenaline boost. There is also good access to several coastal towns including Whitehaven, 7 miles, with good restaurants, a popular harbour and good shopping.
St Bees Head Heritage Coast is within 10 miles, offering excellent coastal walks and sandy beaches, whilst the lively market town of Cockermouth, 9 miles, has an abundance of speciality shops, coffee houses, restaurants, and attractions. Visit Wordsworth House for a spot of culture, or maybe Jennings Brewery beneath the castle walls offering tasting tours.

All five lodges are open plan and offer ground floor accommodation, with one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and a walk-in shower. There is a private hot tub and terrace for each lodge, overlooking landscaped grounds, and parking for two cars.
If you plan to explore, there are lots of activities right on your doorstep. The South Lakes Safari Zoo is only a 10-minute drive away and is one of Cumbria’s most popular tourist attractions! Ulverston is just a 5-minute drive away, a busy market town inundated with old historic buildings and cobbled streets, and is the start of the 70-mile Cumbrian Way.
You are spoilt for choice on places to explore in the surrounding areas. Barrow-in-Furness is a short drive away, a large town with plenty of shopping, bars, restaurants, cinema and a golf course. Both Walney Island and Newby Bridge are a 20-minute drive away, and at Newby Bridge you’ll find the home of the Lakes Aquarium and Windermere Lake cruises, offering boat rides across England’s largest lake.
Ulverston is a great base for a gateway into the lakes so whether you are planning to enjoy walking a few of the 214 Wainwright fells, cycling the fantastic roads nearby or driving over to many other popular towns around Cumbria including Ambleside, Coniston, Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere, you are spoilt for choice! Local shops and tea rooms, as well as great pubs and restaurants abound. From Staffield Cottage you can plan a multitude of activities to do from cycling to fishing, walking to ballooning. Angerton Cottage is a delightful country cottage set in beautiful countryside yet close to the many and varied attractions the area has to offer. Refurbished in 2021 Angerton Cottage is lovingly decorated and furnished throughout, a particularly favourite room at Angerton Cottage is the living room with patio doors opening onto the garden where you can sit and enjoy the wildlife. In the winter the cosy wood burner in the living room is a joy.

With three comfortable bedrooms, a lovely kitchen and separate dining room it’s the perfect cottage for a family get together at any time of year and of course your four-legged friend is well catered for in the large, enclosed garden. From Angerton Cottage you can walk or cycle along quiet country lanes or jump in the car and you are in the heart of the Lake District National Park within half an hour where you can enjoy more strenuous hikes or just take in the delights of the lakes and mountains and the lovely towns like Keswick and Windermere.
