Just 20 minutes from Windermere, these holiday properties are set in lovely countryside and ten acres of landscaped grounds, facing south, with wonderful long distance views to the sea, and to the hills beyond. This large country house is set on a wooded knoll and has been skilfully converted into six spacious holiday houses, which are owned by the Caravan Club Ltd and situated on the edge of one of their immaculately kept small touring caravan parks. There’s a lot to see and do in the immediate area. Close by is beautiful Cartmel Priory and the stately homes at Holker Hall, Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall. 3 miles west along the coast is the refined small seaside town of Grange-over-Sands with lots of shops, golf and fishing. The properties make an excellent touring base for the whole of the southern Lake District. Shop 3 miles, pub with food 400 yards.

The walking and wildlife from the doorstep is excellent. There is a stunning walk along the lakeside or for the more ambitious hiker Helvellyn beckons. The popular, bustling market town of Keswick with an abundance of interesting shops, tourist attractions and eateries is five miles. Thirlmere connects to the south Lakes via a spectacular mountain pass, where you can enjoy the many opportunities that Grasmere, Windermere and Ambleside have to offer. An excellent central location for exploring the Lake District.

In the glorious landscape of the Lake District National Park, and ideally located for enjoying water sports or fell walking and climbing, these two spacious and comfortable properties have been created from the conversion of an 18th century barn. Allt Maen, its name derived from the Celtic ‘Old Man of Coniston’, a mountain visible from the properties, is on the first floor and Wetherlam occupies the ground floor. Coniston Water is just 2 miles, Windermere 8 miles, Blawith Fells are a short drive and Grizedale Forest tracks invite mountain bikers, whilst nearby stately homes and gardens offer more sedate pleasures. Shops are 3 miles away and a friendly pub (dogs welcome) is a short stroll.

Walk straight out on to the fells from your cottage door, or go pony trekking and see the sights from a different angle (book at nearby Rookin House). Enjoy boating and sailing on Ullswater or take in the magnificent scenery on a launch trip up the lake. A region which offers something for everyone, whichever season you choose to visit – in the winter months, why not join the Lake District ski club and ski on Raise. For enjoyable days out, there are plenty of places to visit, including Aira Force waterfall, Wetheriggs Pottery Museum and Penrith Castle. Also in the area surrounding Penrith is the wonderful Rheged Discovery Centre, Lowther Leisure and Wildlife Park, Dalemain Historic House and Gardens and beautiful Hutton in the Forest. The lakes and fells to the south are easily reached or go north to the charming villages and historic sites in the Borders, a trip to fascinating Hadrian’s Wall is a must. This is an ideal base for a coastal holiday, and is also close to the south western Lake District Fells and Lakes. The village of Askam has a good range of shops and a railway station, where you can take a trip along the Cumbrian coast and through glorious countryside, with wonderful views. There is an abundance of walks right on the doorstep, whilst Coniston Water is only a 30-minute drive. Grizedale Forest Dalton Animal Park, 4 miles, makes an excellent day out, with a variety of wild animals from around the world. Keswick is a shopping town with markets, as well as a lakeside theatre on Derwent Water, where boat trips can be taken. There is easy access to Carlisle and the myriad attractions, spectacular scenery and walking and cycle routes of the Lake District National Park, ensures that Pasture Farm makes an ideal holiday destination.
