This is fantastic walking countryside and the elevated position gives views of Scafell and the Eskdale Valley. Birkerthwaite Stable (W41477) is a single-storey converted stable with rustic charm heated by a multi- fuel log-burner that in turn heats a back- boiler. Nearby attractions include Muncaster Castle and Hardknott Roman Fort, whilst the Langdale Pikes and Ambleside on the northern shores of Lake Windermere can be reached via a stunning drive over the Hard Knott and Wrynose Passes. A short drive away is Wast Water; to the west are sandy beaches. Alternatively take the steam train from Ravenglass. Shop 3 miles, pub 2½ miles.

Birkerthwaite Stable (W41477) is a single-storey converted stable with rustic charm heated by a log-burning stove. Birkerthwaite Barn (W41478) has a spacious kitchen/dining room, a galleried landing and a four poster bed. Birkerthwaite Cottage (W41479) has an upstairs open plan living area with wooden floors which opens onto a balcony overlooking gardens. The Elms is situated in the upper Eden Valley nestling between Appleby and Kirkby Stephen at the foot of the Cumbrian Pennines, and conveniently located adjacent to and just off the trans-Pennine trunk road (A66). This makes the location an excellent touring base for exploring the Yorkshire and Durham Dales to the east, and the Lake District National Park to the west.
This detached holiday lodge provides accommodation of a very good standard, is tastefully furnished, very comfortable and well equipped, enjoys countryside views and a lovely setting on a no through lane within a small, rural caravan park. The park encourages wildlife and has a conservation pond with a wide variety of birds in the surrounding woodlands and there are frequent visits from roe deer.

Less than a mile away, main roads give access to the myriad attractions and stunning landscapes of the Lake District National Park, Yorkshire Dales and County Durham, and the shops, pubs and restaurants of Brough are also only 1 mile away. Set quietly on the edge of a small pretty village at the foot of Lake Windermere, this delightful cottage exudes character and romantic charm. One of a pairand heavily beamed, it is superbly presented with its garden, patio area and furniture. Surrounded by stunning countryside, Windermere Lake is just 2 miles and the Central Lakes and Fells can be reached within a short drive. To the west lies Ulverston with its cobbled streets, arts and crafts and weekly markets. Coniston, Grange-over-Sands and Bowness-on-Windermere, all 12 miles. Shop 2 miles. Excellent pub in village.

Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells.
