The ground floor has a large open plan living space with French doors opening directly into the enclosed garden where you have a deck to enjoy your morning coffee, a patio with a table and seating for eight, and a brick-built BBQ. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you’ll need during your stay, whilst meals are enjoyed seated on the handmade tables and benches. The living area boasts a large L-sofa with ample space for a full house. The log burner takes centre stage so everyone can enjoy the extra warmth of the fire whilst chatting or watching a film on the TV.
The sheltered hot tub seats eight adults and can be enjoyed all year round, despite the unpredictable English weather! There are two en-suite bedrooms; the spacious super king is on the ground floor with a walk-in shower and the other is located upstairs with a kingsize bed and enclosed shower. The remaining first floor rooms also offer kingsize beds and share a larger bathroom with both a shower and bathtub. All the beds in the property can be split into singles upon request. Dogs are welcome in The Stone Barn; the fenced garden means you won’t need to worry about any escape artists, and the owners are happy to offer access to various fields on the farm for ’walkies’.

The village is close to Chesterfield with great walking on the canal towpath known as The Cuckoo Way. The Trans-Pennine Trail is also close by and is just the ticket for walkers and cyclists. Look out for the brass monkey on The Clocktower and it was said that its tail pointed upwards when the Staveley Coal and Iron Company was in profit, and downwards if it made a loss! There are lots of good local walks from the doorstep and with easy access to the Peak District, walkers will be spoilt for choice.

The Barn is conveniently located 115 steps away from The Peacock at Barlow bar and restaurant offering the best views around, as well as just 80 steps away from The Hackney House Cafe and gift shop which serves a hearty breakfast and is renowned in the area for its home cooking. The Barn at Woodland View can be found in the small Derbyshire hamlet of Barlow. Most famous for its well dressings, the village uniquely has 3 wells, which the villagers decorate and round the occasion off with a carnival weekend. On the edge of the Peak District National Park, the area is home to excellent walking and with a host of attractions available in the vicinity. The large market town of Chesterfield famous for its crooked spire is just 15 minutes away, and the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall are around 20 minutes. The ever-popular Bakewell and Hathersage in the heart of the Hope Valley are also around 20 minutes and the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton and wonderfully historic plague village of Eyam are around half an hour. Matlock, with its cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham is also around 30 minutes, Edale, home to the start/finish of the Pennine Way and the spa town of Buxton can be reached in 45 minutes. Johnnygate Grange is perfectly placed in the grounds of the wonderful Barlow Woodseats Hall which dates to the Norman conquest and was rebuilt in 1624. The house was the first marital home of Bess of Hardwick who later went on to build Hardwick Hall and Chatsworth House, both of which are nearby and a must to visit. It now offers guests five characterful en-suite bedrooms, an attractive sitting room with original features and a spacious open plan kitchen and dining area, perfect for family and friends to gather in and enjoy.

Nearby is Matlock Bath and Matlock Farm Park which offers a great selection of activities for the kids, including the Matlock Bath Aquarium and Arcade and the fun-filled Gulliver’s Kingdom theme park.

Yew Tree Cottage is located in the quaint village of Holymoorside, one of the many hamlets in Chesterfield. It is home to two fantastic pubs, one of which is owned by Peak Ales meaning it has fantastic local beers on offer, and the second pub’s head chef featured on the Great British Menu and offers fantastic food options. There are ample walks directly from the door or a little further you can reach trails taking you to Linacre reservoir or into Matlock which is the next town on. The town is full of high street shops, great restaurants and there are many tourist attractions locally such as Chatsworth House which is only 6 miles away.
As you arrive at Yew Tree Cottage you are greeted by a fantastic garden with stunning views over the village and the countryside, enter the cottage into the spacious, social space the kitchen offers, with breakfast bar, dining table, sofa and skylight windows with an unspoilt view of the sky, there is a snug just off from here with comfortable sofa, TV and log burner.
