Meadows Huts, Foxglove (UK37639) and Forget-Me-Not (UK37646) are located just outside of the quaint village of Parwich, 5 miles from the nearest town, Ashbourne. This area of the Peak District is fantastic for exploring the countryside. The High Peak trail and the Tissington trail are both within 3 miles of the huts as well as recognised cycle routes. Dovedale is a must to visit whilst in the area, read up on the history of the steppingstones and take the walk yourselves up Thorpe Cloud where you will see breath-taking views well worth the hike. If you are more of a thrill seeker Alton Towers is only a 20-minute drive which makes a fun day out for all the family or take on some water sports at Carsington reservoir.
After all this enjoy a nice meal in the evening at the local pub. Foxglove and Forget-me-not are two similar shepherds’ huts, both finished to an incredible standard with home comforts in mind. The open plan living space has a double bunk bed allowing space for four guests, a dining area with a TV, there is also Wi-Fi provided and electric radiators. The kitchen is well equipped with electric oven, hob and fridge, plus there is a shower room within the hut. Outside a barbecue and firepit are provided with outdoor furniture, overlooking the fields.

Bailey’s Barn is well set up with a heated cupboard for drying coats and boots and an outside tap for washing wellies and dogs. The property is most welcoming for two dogs, with a special welcome gift and bedding.
Ideal for walkers, couples, and dog owners, it is within an easy stroll of fields, footpaths and The Limestone Way. Set on top of the highest hill for many miles around, the views are outstanding and the walking and cycling extremely rewarding. There are hundreds of miles of trails which start straight from the barn, it is an ideal opportunity to park-up, put the car keys away and just relax! Bailey’s Barn is a great base from which to explore the beauty and majesty of the region’s peaks, dales and rivers. With its own quirky traditions such as Bonsall Carnival, International Hen Racing Championships, ancient buildings and History Trails, Bonsall itself is a delightful find with two pubs and a lovely tearoom all within half a mile or so. Enjoying an idyllic, elevated position in a peaceful corner of Wirksworth town, guests can enjoy the various amenities on offer in this pretty Peak District market town. From shops to restaurants, this little town, rightly called ‘the Gem of the Peak’ is nestled amidst the beauty of the surrounding landscape. There are various local pubs which provide an excellent stop after walking the Peaks. Outside is a delightful private garden, where you can enjoy the sunny seating area, which makes for a peaceful retreat after a long day exploring all that the wonderful Peak District has to offer.
The area around Pear Tree Cottage is called ‘The Puzzle Gardens’ and has the feel of a Cornish fishing village - a random patchwork of houses and gardens removed from traffic and noise. Visitors will enjoy exploring the ancient ‘jitties’ and courtyards of the Puzzle Gardens, or sitting on the bench in front of the cottage, with a drink, to take in its character.
Wirksworth is a small, charming market town situated just a few miles from Matlock, on the edge of the White Peak. It is full of character with many buildings of architectural interest, including its magnificent parish church. Independent shops sit alongside the deli, butchers, and bakers, with a strong local food ethic. Visitors will enjoy the Heritage Centre and the delightful surrounding countryside including nearby Carsington Water, Black Rocks, and the High Peak Trail. Rock climbing and cycling can be enjoyed here at every level, and there are good walking routes all around. Well dressing is unique to Derbyshire, and Wirksworth combines this tradition with a lively carnival in May, and a leading rural annual arts festival in September, showcasing contemporary art and international performers of every kind. With an art deco independent cinema and a range of places to eat there is plenty to keep you entertained. The town offers a leisure centre with a climbing wall and a small trainer swimming pool, an Eco Centre, and the Mount Cook Adventure Centre. The weekly market and monthly farmers’ market provide local produce and crafts. Beautiful Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy reach, as well as Matlock Bath, with its spectacular cable car, the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and Gulliver’s Kingdom. Only 2 miles away, the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site in Cromford is not to be missed. In all, Wirksworth is a great location for a varied holiday, with shops, pubs, and restaurants 500 yards away.

This delightful cottage can be found on the edge of the Peak District in the picturesque village of Cutthorpe, down a private country lane on the owner’s non-working farm of 2 acres. Green Farm is surrounded by fields, woodland, footpaths and bridleways with direct access to the Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Country Park. The Pig Sty is a beautifully converted stone barn, situated over two floors. It has been modernised throughout whilst retaining many original features. The ground floor is a large open plan living space complete with a warming wood burner, leather corner sofa, a large LCD TV and exposed stone walls. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen/dining room, a great social space with a large dining table to enjoy a home cooked meal with all the family. Head upstairs where you will find the bathroom and two generously sized bedrooms; a double bedroom which enjoys views over the countryside through the large picture widow and a twin bedroom which is en-suite. After a busy day exploring the surrounding area, the private garden with a covered hot tub (available at an additional charge) is a great place to relax and unwind. Double glazed with underfloor heating downstairs and centrally heated throughout, this barn is perfect for families and groups all year round. Additional towels and gowns are also included.

Cutthorpe has two pubs within walking distance that are dog friendly and serve food. It has a pretty village green and benefits from panoramic views over Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire. The village is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, yet is only 3 miles from the popular market town of Chesterfield. Its perfect location allows you to explore historic houses, walking, cycling and visiting the tourist towns of Bakewell, Matlock, Castleton, Buxton, Eyam and Hathersage. If its stately homes, castles and gardens you would like to visit, the magnificent Chatsworth House is only 10 minutes drive away; the grounds and house will provide a full day out. Within 30 minutes you can also visit Packwood house, Bolsover castle, Renishaw hall, Haddon hall and Hardwick hall.

For those that are more active, there are numerous options varying from local walks from your door, to more adventurous walks in the Peak District. Cyclists are also well catered for with a variety of road and off road tracks and trails. Additionally there is shooting, canoeing, horse riding, go ape, abseiling, climbing, fishing and golf all available nearby. Alternatively you can just relax and enjoy the tranquillity that Green Farm offers. The nearest shop is 2 miles, café 1½ miles, post office, doctors are all available locally.

In the pretty village of Middleton-by-Wirksworth, close to the High Peak Trail and near to Wirksworth, Cromford, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Carsington Water, the location is second to none! There are also many fantastic walks available direct from the door for those who enjoy exploring on foot. Cromford nestles in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site and is home to the Arkwright Museum. On site there is a wonderful shopping outlet as well as the working mills showing how the textiles were produced years ago. A couple of miles away you will discover Carsington Water offering watersports and cycle hire as well as an excellent visitors centre with a restaurant and coffee shop. Heritage enthusiasts will enjoy the Ecclesbourne Valley railways in nearby Wirksworth, and the fabulous Tramway Museum in Crich along the valley. Climbers are spoilt for choice with the Gritstone Black Rocks a short walk away, and the superb limestone crags nearby to explore. Let’s not forget the amazing stately homes and gardens dotted around this beautiful area to explore, such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall to name but a few. The Bobbin owners are dog friendly and having two of their own, realise the importance of enabling guests to bring their beloved pets on holiday. Doggie hospitality treats are provided plus loan of a waffle dog towel for wiping muddy paws! The owners also offer the loan of a doggy bed, feed, and dog bowls free of charge if required as they appreciate space can be limited when travelling. The beautiful Matlock Forest is only a 5-minute drive away which is dog friendly with many routes to explore!
The Bobbin is located on the edge of the Peak District giving easy access for exploring lovely villages and towns such as the historic spa town of Matlock just 5 minutes’ drive away with its ’Little Switzerland Gorge’, numerous bars/eateries, ice cream parlour, steam train and boating lake. Matlock Bath is worth a visit with its famous attractions ’Heights of Abraham’ and ’Gullivers Kingdom’. The iconic town of Bakewell is home to the famous Bakewell Pudding. Chatsworth House (the Palace in the Peak) is only a 20-minute drive away. After something more adventurous, then why not visit Carsington for kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, sailing, cycling, or walking. Or visit the historical town of Chesterfield and be amazed by its unusual, crooked spire and lively outdoor market. This is just a small suggestion as there is really so much more to explore from the doorstep of The Bobbin.

This cosy, spacious and traditional cottage is situated in the heart of the village of Bradwell. It has been furnished to a very good standard and offers an excellent base for walking, cycling or just relaxing. Bradwell village boasts a thriving high street of shops including the famous Bradwell Ice Cream shop, a family run fish and chip shop, bakery, coffee house and small supermarket. There are four pubs in the village to suit every taste, all providing food and most allowing children, dogs and muddy boots. A huge range of superb walks are in Bradwell and the surrounding area, including a very popular walk direct from Bradwell to Castleton a must see village at any time of the year. There are excellent transport links to and from the village with Hope Rail Station only minutes away, being on the direct line for Manchester and Sheffield.
The cottage enjoys free Wi-fi and a TV with Freeview, a DVD player and a games console with a good selection of DVD’s, books and tables games for the family. Dogs are particularly welcome, with doggy bowls provided and a treat pack to ensure they don’t miss out on all the fun!
