Throughout the year events are held such as the Tideswell Food Festival in May, and Well Dressings and Wakes Week in late June to early July.

There are some stunning walks through Tideswell Dale, where there is a nature reserve that leads out onto the Monsal Trail, a popular Peak District walking and cycling trail. The Limestone Way also passes through, and with it heading south can take you all the way to Rocester on the Staffordshire border, or north to the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton and Mam Tor, which is around 7 miles away. The ever popular market town of Bakewell is home to the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall, and can be reached in around 15 minutes, as can Buxton with its Pavilion Gardens and Opera House. For those thrill seekers, Matlock and its stunning cable car ride can be reached in around 30 minutes, and the UK’s biggest amusement park, Alton Towers, is around 45 minutes. Upon arrival at Warrington House, you will enter a large boot room, the perfect space with hard floorings to brush yourself down or your four-legged friend after a muddy walk in the hills; this room also has a utility section offering guests the use of the washing machine and tumble dryer. Off from the boot room are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and another with twin beds, on the ground floor there is also the family bathroom with a bath and separate cubicle shower. This property has been completely renovated in the summer/autumn of 2021 and it has been done to an excellent standard with guests’ thoughts always in mind.
On the first floor is an open plan, spacious living room with ample seating and beautifully placed pops of colour in the décor. There is a rustic wooden dining table to seat eight guests. On the second floor you enter the main bedroom, which is converted in the attic; there are some low ceilings but ample room to walk upright, this room has a king size bed and en-suite with shower cubicle. To the rear of the property is a small, decked terrace area. Renovated in late 2022, Top House has been finished to a fantastic standard, and is located in the village of Tideswell. You have everything you need right in the village such as cafés, a chip shop, a number of pubs and a local supermarket all just a couple of minutes’ walk away. Upon arriving at Top House, you can pull up to empty your luggage before parking your car nearby where there is ample free parking available (there is no immediate parking outside). Enter into the porch where you can hang up your coat and kick off your shoes, and then a cosy living room with comfortable seating and a lovely open fire awaits you. Step into the kitchen, which has all the appliances and equipment you should need during your stay plus a breakfast bar, and there is a back door opening on to the outside space. Here you will find a bistro set is and an outhouse which offers a hose should you need to wash your boots or pet down.
Top House is Grade II listed and really is in a great central location for exploring all the Peak District has to offer. There are many walks to explore in the rolling Peak District hills as well as cycle routes. You are within a short drive of the nearest towns, Bakewell and Buxton, which offer great parks, shops, food spots and Buxton is also home to the opera house which has theatre shows on weekly. Castleton is located around 7 miles which offers a fun day exploring the caverns via boat or take a trip to Chatsworth House to soak up its history and beautifully kept gardens.

Butterfield Cottage is a quaint property located in this popular village of Tideswell. It stands out from the rest with its pink finish and easy self-catering accommodation, very much the perfect base for walkers and cyclists. Peacefully set on the edge of the village, it is a 5-minute stroll to the village centre. St Johns Church, known as the cathedral of the Peak is well worth a visit.
As you arrive step into the house to be greeted by the warm and cosy sitting room, which has comfortable seating and warming wood burner. This room is open plan with a dining area which will comfortably seat up to six guests. The kitchen is equipped with all the appliances you should need for cooking a holiday feast. Outside you have the front patio with garden furniture so you can enjoy the beautiful views across , but there is also a rear garden which has a bench, washing line and a sheltered area where you can store bikes. From the back garden there is a gate leading onto the playground and the car park.
The village of Tideswell offers so much to holiday makers, not only are you spoilt for choice in walks and trails such as the High Peak, Monsal Trail and Chatsworth but there is a great selection of different places to eat, a local Co-op for any groceries you may require plus farm shops, restaurants, cafés, pubs and chip shops. This village really does have it all and you will get a true Peak District village atmosphere when staying here. Not far from Tideswell is the nearest town of Buxton which has its famous opera house where you can book tickets to a show or have a walk around the Pavillion Gardens. The town of Bakewell is known for its puddings and tarts, so pick up a sweet treat and take a gentle stroll down the River Derwent. Matlock has views of Riber Castle and a lovely park which is great for entertaining children.

Abbots Abode is a characteristic cottage sleeping up to six guests in two bedrooms. On the ground floor is a spacious, fully-equipped kitchen with farmhouse dining table to seat all guests, and a comfortable living room with ample seating, electric wood burner and TV. The views from Monks Retreat are beautiful, just a short walk away you have an extensive panorama or seven dales and can see far out into the distance to the high moorlands of Axe Edge and Kinder Scout. The Limestone Way trail runs directly through the farm so you can easily hope on to this for your first exciting Peak District walk, there are many in the area such as Monsal Trail, High Peak Trail and Tissington Trail to name a few. Local to the property is Buxton town which offers an array of restaurants, pubs and shops, as well as the famous opera house that has shows on regularly. Bakewell and Matlock are also nearby to explore, as well as Chatsworth House. After you have enjoyed a fun-filled day head down to the local pub to enjoy some local ales and home cooked food.
