This is a really dog-friendly area with some local dog-friendly beaches. The history of the cottage is amazing and was previously the village Drapery Shop. Enjoy glorious valley views from this stunning terraced holiday house, ideally located within the historic village of Hartland on the breathtaking North Devon coast. It is the ideal choice at any time of year. The spacious living room with cosy wood burner is the perfect place to curl up on a chilly evening or enjoy a lazy breakfast in the pretty garden room, with views of the birds and the wildlife across the valley. Relax in the sunny garden and enjoy beautiful views from the rear of the house and views over the traditional village square to the front. Well-furnished, this stylish cottage is the perfect spot to unwind, yet is just a stroll away from the centre of the village where you will find three village pubs, village shops with local produce, along with pretty craft shops, galleries and the local café just 150 yards away.

This stunning area has much to offer with the Heritage coastline being popular with walkers and bird-watchers, and the dramatic beach at Hartland Quay is just 2 miles away. The famous surfing beaches of Westward Ho! and Bude are an easy drive and for family fun, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks are close by. There are numerous National Trust properties in the area, as well as the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Docton Mill. Hartland Abbey is well worth a visit, along with the lighthouse at Hartland Point and even the shipwreck museum at Hartland Quay. Boat trips are available to Lundy Island from various departure points including Ilfracombe and Clovelly. The historic fishing port and village of Appledore is worth a visit. Garden lovers will enjoy nearby RHS Rosemoor and Docton Mill. This is a superb holiday choice whatever the time of year. The beach at Westward Ho! is just 4 miles; renowned for its beauty, it has 2 miles of sandy beach known as the Golden Bay, and is popular with surfers. The Wicket is a beautiful three-bedroom holiday home located in the village of Newton Ferrers, just a short walk to the water’s edge of Newton and Noss Creek on the River Yealm. A bright and stylish property, conveniently located for a relaxing break within this pretty nautical village and showcasing views across the village and beyond to the countryside above Noss Mayo. As you enter the house you are welcomed into the open plan kitchen, living and dining area which feels cosy and homely with coastal blue tones and high vaulted ceilings. The living area has deep comfortable sofas, a Smart TV with Freeview, a wood burner and the dining space is the perfect spot to enjoy a homecooked meal. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large electric and gas range cooker, wine fridge and a Tassimo coffee machine. Leading to the living space is a wet room with a shower, toilet and heated towel rail and a utility with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Patio doors open out from the kitchen into an enclosed courtyard patio area with a bistro table and chairs; a lovely suntrap for enjoying your morning coffee or for a peaceful escape. There is also a small patio area at the front of the property with garden furniture and a barbecue for al fresco dining, leading down to the lawn and well-established garden. From here the garden path leads down steps beyond the gate to the parking below. Head upstairs to discover three bedrooms, two of which each have a kingsize bed and the third has a standard double bed, Please note space is restricted in this room if utilised by two guests. The Wicket is the perfect bolthole within walking distance to all the major amenities in the waterside village of Newton Ferrers including shops, public house, the Yacht Club and a beautiful church. Only a short walk from the wooded riverside of the Yealm estuary, a sailing mecca, where the twin villages of Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers lie opposite each other. A causeway, ’The Voss’, between the two villages can be crossed at low tide giving access to marvellous walking and there are superb inns on the water’s edge in both villages. The location is perfect for watersporting enthusiasts with the slipway literally on the doorstep, offering a great environment for kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding and sailing. Walkers can look forward to exploring the South West Coast Path, coming to beautiful sections of coastline backed by rugged cliffs, small beaches and coves. Beaches within a short drive include the family friendly Wembury, the hidden gem of Mothecombe, and Wonwell which has limited parking and no facilities, but low tide exposes acres of golden sand which is heaven for dogs to race across. Newton Ferrers is also conveniently close to the maritime city of Plymouth with its lively Barbican area, fascinating National Marine Aquarium, and the iconic Hoe and lighthouse offering fantastic views across one of the most perfect natural harbours in the world. Mole Hall is a beautiful, detached, thatched 18th-century barn conversion, in the heart of the Devon countryside. The property takes advantage of far reaching rural views from many rooms and is only a 20-minute drive from the thriving market town of Bideford.
Internally, the property is cosy with traditional features whilst having a modern touch. The open plan kitchen/dining area has access to the garden through French doors that fill the room with light. The living room is on the first floor offering exposed beam ceilings and a seating area with a desk to relax and unwind. North Devon holds many interesting attractions for all ages. RHS Rosemoor is approximately a 10-minute drive away from the property, and is an internationally renowned collection of gardens. The Tarka Trail is also nearby which features a series of footpaths and cycle paths that go around north Devon following the route taken by Tarka the Otter in the book of that name. The Milky Way Adventure Park is also only a half hour drive from the property and is a great family day out. Home of north Devon’s biggest indoor adventure play area with assault courses and slides built for adults and children along with shows and displays to enjoy too.
Only an hours drive away is Exmoor National Park offering an amazing variety of landscapes within its 267 square miles. A unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland; shaped by people and nature over thousands of years. Where high cliffs plunge into the Bristol Channel, and cosy pubs and tearooms offer delicious local produce.

The master bedroom in each property features a flatscreen TV, and home-made meals can be pre-ordered and delivered to the cottage (arranged direct with the owner). The cottages lie just a short distance from some of south Devon’s finest beaches and tourist attractions, including the historic town of Totnes which is just 15 minutes away and sits on the River Dart with cruises down river to Greenway and Dartmouth. A cosmopolitan town, Totnes, 7 miles away, has a vast array of independent shops, weekly markets, galleries, leisure centre and many lovely restaurants, bistros and cafés. The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are 40 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 15-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth, and the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, both 7 miles away, has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks.

Guests of these cottages can also enjoy a range of on-site facilities suitable for all the family, including a heated indoor swimming pool (available via a booking system) with a private changing room and shower. There is a large games room set over two floors, including a fitness room with a cross trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and exercise bike. The top floor of the games room has a full-size American pool table, big sofa and Sky TV. The bottom floor has table tennis and table football. On-site there is also a laundry and ironing room. The Wheeldon Off-Road Centre, adjacent to the cottages, boasts a purpose-built, 30,000 square foot indoor arena (split in separate halves for motorbikes and bicycles) and junior training circuit, and is the ideal year-round venue for the whole family to learn to ride a motorcycle in a fun and controlled environment. Discounted rates are available for children and adults during the school holidays (booking by arrangement and on arrival), providing children and adults with the opportunity to experience the ultimate, two-wheel off-road adventure for the first time. The instructors at Wheeldon Farm are all ACU accredited and will guide the children through their paces every step of the way. For some activities, all the kit, clothing, boots, gloves, helmets and fun bikes are provided. All that’s needed is the enthusiasm to have a great deal of fun! In addition to all the motorbike fun, a range of other activities can also be organised locally, including horse riding, golf, go-karting and trout and carp fishing. Also, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle and archery are available - these are run by a fully qualified instructor and all equipment is provided. The activities run on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday. Set in the Exe Valley and very accessible from major roads, these three beautiful properties all offer the perfect holiday retreat. All or part of the complex can be booked for large groups, parties or family gatherings. It would make an ideal venue for a wedding, with facilities allowing up to 130 guests to attend, by arrangement. They each have their individual character including beams and most with wood burners.

With the River Exe, Devonshire Heartland, Somerset and the North Devon coastline on your doorstep, the properties are situated in an excellent countryside location offering a good base to explore the beautiful area and are within easy driving distance of Exmoor National Park and the Devon and Somerset border.

Golf, horse riding, cycling and fishing are available locally, along with clay pigeon shooting and fly fishing. Take a stroll next to the river in the 20 acre grounds. Alternatively, there are many delightful, scenic countryside walks nearby including the spectacular scenic coast between Minehead and Combe Martin. Tiverton, 7 miles, offers a selection of shops, restaurants and pubs as well as the famous Grand Western Canal and Bickleigh Castle.

The nearest coast with sandy beaches and family attractions including Somerset World and West Somerset scenic steam railway is at the seaside resort of Minehead. The medieval town of Dunster with its magnificent castle, deer park and mill, and the historic cathedral city of Exeter with its variety of shops, restaurants, theatres, racecourse and the Maritime Museum, are both 20 miles away. Delightful Bickleigh, 8 miles, has lovely, thatched inns overlooking the river, and serving good food and local ales - the perfect location to get away from it all.

Taunton, Ilfracombe, Sidmouth, Seaton and Exmouth are within easy driving distance. National Trust properties within easy reach include Knightshayes Court, Powderham Castle and Castle Drogo to name a few. Brampton is 2 miles away, and sailing is available at nearby Wimbleball Lake. It is perfect for a weekend escape, or if you are here for the week, it’s a great spot from which to set out on your adventure before returning after a busy day. The stone exterior is complimented by an enclosed garden which is a great place to let your dog run free whilst you enjoy the surroundings. Located in the hamlet of Meshaw, there are walks into the surrounding countryside from the door.

For a wider range of amenities, head to the market town of South Molton. The property is ideally situated for exploring all of North Devon and Exmoor. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path and many places to visit to make your holiday memorable. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (National Trust), the valley of the rocks and the funicular cliff railway, are well worth a visit, or looking towards Minehead, visitors can go back in time on the scenic West Somerset Steam Railway, or visit the enchanting medieval Dunster Castle (also National Trust), with its beautiful terraced gardens, deer park and mill, all making for an interesting day out. Nearer to home, guests can wine and dine in the pubs and a Michelin 1* restaurant nearby. There is also fishing, golf and cycling available. Further afield, the resorts of Ilfracombe, Bideford and Combe Martin are well worth a visit. For some of the best beaches in the country, visit Woolacombe and Saunton. Beach 25 miles. North Devon has plenty to see and do, and is home to some of the best beaches in the country including Woolacombe and Saunton. The nearest beach is at Instow and is ideal for children or just a great place to walk off life’s stresses, and then enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants along the front. The town of Great Torrington is only a short drive away and has most amenities you may require. The larger regional town of Barnstaple has a busy high street, the Pannier Market and famous Butchers Row. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. For the younger ones a visit to the Big Sheep or Milky Way Adventure Parks is a good option. There is walking on Dartmoor or hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail, and there is also golf and fishing available locally.
