The village of Brayford is 2 miles from the cottage with its 900-year-old Church of All Saints High Bray set on the hill above the Bray Valley. There are also many charming village pubs and restaurants to explore nearby. The village is close to the dramatic North Devon coast with some of the best beaches in the country; a day trip to Woolacombe and Saunton are not to be missed. The South West Coastal Path and the Tarka Trail are superb for walking and the coastline is varied and interesting.
RHS Rosemoor, Marwood Gardens, Arlington Court, Clovelly, Exmoor Zoo, the Combe Martin Dinosaur Park and Hartland Abbey are all within driving distance. For the keen golfers, Portmore Golf club in Landkey and Saunton Golf club are both nearby. Visit the National Trust’s Watersmeet Gorge, Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway. Up on Exmoor, there are various walks to suit all abilities, as well as pretty places worth visiting including Tarr Steps, Landacre Bridge and the charming little village of Withypool. After an action-packed day exploring Dartmoor, head into the restful open plan living and dining area, and unwind on the sofa or armchair, watching a film on the Smart TV with Freeview, enjoying the glows of the wood burner in the background. On the level part of the garden there is a garden room with dining area and sofa and chair, bar/kitchen area and infra-red heater. Outside is a charcoal barbecue.
Brentor is just six miles from the historic Stannary market town of Tavistock, with its farmers’ market, boutique shops, supermarkets, bistros, pubs, and cafés. There is so much for all the family here, whether you are looking for an active break, walking, cycling, horse-riding, bird watching, golf, fishing, visiting historic houses and gardens, surfing/bodyboarding on the north coast or just wish to sit and relax with a good book.
