It lies on Slade Farm in a tranquil valley on the owners’ working sheep and goat farm overlooking a forest and fields with deer and wildlife wandering past, and surrounded by quiet country lanes. The village of Brayford is 2 miles from the cottage with its 900-year-old Church of All Saints High Bray set on the hill above the Bray Valley. There are also many charming village pubs and restaurants to explore nearby. The village is close to the dramatic North Devon coast with some of the best beaches in the country; a day trip to Woolacombe and Saunton are not to be missed. The South West Coastal Path and the Tarka Trail are superb for walking and the coastline is varied and interesting.
RHS Rosemoor, Marwood Gardens, Arlington Court, Clovelly, Exmoor Zoo, the Combe Martin Dinosaur Park and Hartland Abbey are all within driving distance. For the keen golfers, Portmore Golf club in Landkey and Saunton Golf club are both nearby. Visit the National Trust’s Watersmeet Gorge, Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway. Up on Exmoor, there are various walks to suit all abilities, as well as pretty places worth visiting including Tarr Steps, Landacre Bridge and the charming little village of Withypool. On the level part of the garden there is a garden room with dining area and sofa and chair, bar/kitchen area and infra-red heater. Outside is a charcoal barbecue.
Brentor is just six miles from the historic Stannary market town of Tavistock, with its farmers’ market, boutique shops, supermarkets, bistros, pubs, and cafés.
