The owners of the farm are keen for guests to experience life on the farm and there are opportunities to see the cows being milked, feeding the calves and collecting eggs from the chickens. There are some great walks from the farm up onto Exmoor which is designated as an International Dark Sky Reserve, and there are a number of walks on the estate that take you down through woods and along valleys by rivers and past lakes. The walks are mainly off road and a wide variety of wildlife can be seen, from the wild red deer that Exmoor is famous for, to the tiny but vibrant kingfisher. On the estate there are 2 spring fed lakes; these have a population of wild brown trout. Fishing on the lakes is available in the fishing season. The village of North Molton, a short drive away, has a good local shop and pub. The larger town of South Molton has a wider range of shops and local amenities.
During your stay, there is plenty to see and do. Highlights on the moor include the pretty village of Withypool, and the the famous and ancient Tarr Steps. Climb to Exmoor’s highest point at Dunkery Beacon, and then pop into the Dulverton for an afternoon cream tea. There is extensive walking to suit all abilities across the moor, and towards the coastline there are dramatic, steep cliffs at Countisbury. In the Victorian towns of Lynton and Lynmouth, there is plenty to see and do, and the two towns are connected by the famous funicular cliff railway. Other local highlights include the Valley of the Rocks, and there is also access to the South West Coast Path. For good beaches, head up to Woolacombe, Putborough and Croyde. You will be able to enjoy some of the best beaches in the country with surfing and rock pooling. Little Meadow is perfect for those looking for a holiday within Dartmoor National Park. Located in the pretty moorland village of Hexworthy, this cottage is perfect for small families or couples, especially those wanting to take their dog. This detached cottage sits within its own grounds and has a small stream to one side of the garden.

The cottage is a short walk away from the local pub which serves good food. From Little Meadow, access to the moor is easy. The West Dart River runs through the village and there are some magical spots for picnicking and having a paddle in the river, as well as a number of wonderful walks to be had directly from the cottage, following along the river and up onto Dartmoor.

During your stay, there is much to see and do. Just up the road is the curious world of Pixieland, a visitor attraction/garden gnome manufacturer! Widecombe-in-the-Moor boasts two excellent, characterful pubs serving locally sourced food, the world-famous church known as ‘Cathedral on the Moors’, a National Trust shop, a post office, gift shops and several tea rooms. Castle Drogo, a National Trust property, is the last castle to have been built in England.

Within 40 miles are the two picturesque villages of Chagford and Moretonhampstead, with historic inns, excellent pubs, tea rooms, curiosity shops, tennis courts and the Miniature Pony Centre. Or, perhaps pay a visit to Princetown with its famous gaol and visitors centre. The market towns of Tavistock and Ashburton offer a very good variety of shops and local amenities. Within 20 miles are Bigbury-on-Sea and Dawlish, with a beach and nature reserve. Slapton Sands and Torcross are 22 miles away, or Torquay which is within easy reach.
