This charming detached, single-storey cottage, with a beautiful garden, is situated only yards from the shore in the small hamlet of Kirkandrews. It is surrounded by stunning views over open countryside and only a couple of miles from the village of Borgue, with a local pub and restaurant. The nearest supermarket is 7½ miles away which offers a reliable delivery service.
Gullieside Cottage is situated only a short drive from the pretty harbour town of Kirkcudbright, locally known as the artists town, with many festivals throughout the year, including Scottish nights, classic car rallies, historic walks, a medieval fayre, a jazz festival and a spectacular Tattoo, as well as a good selection of pubs and restaurants. There is a large variety of outdoor pursuits on offer, including fishing, horse riding in Galloway Forest Park, cycling, golf and water sports. Threave Garden and Estate, owned by the National Trust, proves to be a popular visitor attraction. Union Street is a delightful cosy house set on a quiet street close to the centre of this vibrant town. The cosy interior has a welcoming sitting room and lovely kitchen/diner on the ground floor whilst upstairs boasts two excellent sized bedrooms, one with kingsize bed and one with twin beds, and the family shower room. Tom’s Place is a delightful semi-detached bungalow set quietly in a lovely residential area of the historic town of Kirkcudbright.
Barrhill No 14 has been modernised and is a deceptively spacious bungalow beautifully decorated. The real surprise is the spacious living/dining area where friends and family can enjoy a cosy night in around the dining table or just sitting relaxing in front of the lovely wood burning stove. All on the one level from the living area there is a good sized kitchen with everything you will need to cook up a storm. Outside you can sit and relax when the weather is fine with a glass of your favourite tipple! Whilst in a quiet residential area Tom’s Place is only a short walk from the bustling harbour and the array of niche shops, galleries, including a new gallery of national significance which hosts exhibitions throughout the year, and restaurants.

Six miles from the cottage is the small village of Gatehouse of Fleet where there are a couple of convenience stores and excellent cafés and restaurants. This corner of Dumfries and Galloway truly is magical with many sandy beaches and rocky coves along the coast, while inland there are many countryside walks to enjoy. Nearby the Galloway Forest Park, known for its starlit dark skies, has excellent cycle paths. There is so much to see and do with castles, prehistoric sites and specialist gardens, thanks to Galloways’ mild climate.
Activities for children include the Cocoabean Chocolate Factory with its chocolate workshops and indoor and outdoor play areas as well as Farm Parks, and don’t miss a visit to the Dark Space Planetarium in Kirkcudbright, an attractive harbour town where you can also watch the fishing boats returning with their catch.
