The historic walled city of Chester has much to offer including Chester racecourse and Chester Zoo, as well as excellent shopping and restaurants. Tarporley, the Delamere Forest and Beeston Castle are also nearby. Llangollen in North Wales is also a great place to explore, with its horse drawn canal barges, steam railway, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which you can canoe over, and white water activities such as rafting, tubing and gorge walking, slightly further afield is Snowdonia National Park.
