Berwyn Bank ref 15825 is a wonderful sandstone barn attached to Halls Bank Farm and has been skilfully converted, retaining much of its character, with some flagged floors and beams. A large living room on the first floor gives super views towards the Scottish mountains and Solway Coast. It was originally a bank barn, therefore there is an external level access to both the ground and first floor. It also has a private enclosed garden. Previously a barn in a former 17th-century farmsteading, Beckside ref 17926 is a charming single-storey, detached stone cottage that has been totally restored with exposed beams and interesting features. The property boasts its own hot tub, and the owners provide dressing gowns and slippers. Situated alongside Mark Close Farmhouse (ref 13314), The Milking Parlour is within a 15-20 minute walk from beautiful Alston, with its great pubs, cafés and shops. The town is central in the North Pennines and lies on the borders of Northumberland, Durham and Cumbria, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, referred to as ’England’s last wilderness’, and is also said to be the ’Highest Market Town in England’. The cottage occupies a fantastic position, central to the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Hadrian’s Wall, the Scottish borders and Northumberland’s coast and castles.

For busy days of exploration walking straight from cherry cottage, be sure to visit Lacy’s Caves, a series of five chambers carved out of the sandstone cliff, set along a beautiful walking route with views of the river and wonderful garden to admire. Just a short walk from the village you can find Long Meg and her daughters, one of the finest stone circles in the north of England- ask the owners for its mythical and mysterious legend! These beautiful attractions can be enjoyed doing a circular walk.
