Bee Keepers Cottage is located on a working farm on the edge of Derbyshire’s Peak District, the cottage overlooks the 18 hole golf course at Shirland Golf and country club where visitors day passes are available.

The cottage has beautiful rural views and offers guests the peace and quiet of rural living yet within easy access of local attractions and transport networks, and there is a golf course boarding the property’s grounds and miles of footpath networks adjacent to the farm.

The accommodation at Bee Keepers cottage is spaced over a single storey and offers light, bright accommodation with beautiful gardens and views of the rolling Derbyshire countryside.

Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and Crich tramway museum are a short drive away. Local towns include Matlock, Bakewell and Chesterfield. Derby and Nottinghamshire are a 20-minute drive.

The location is popular with walkers who enjoy the beautiful walks and trails straight from the doorstep.

All accommodation is on the ground floor. The Large modern kitchen/dining area to seat 6 and opens out onto the living area with Smart TV. The kitchen has an electric eye level oven, built in microwave, induction hob, fridge/ freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

Two bedrooms have king size beds, and the third a single bed, and there is a family bathroom with bath and shower above – there is also an additional shower room with quadrant shower cubicle, toilet and basin.

Outside there are two seating areas, a BBQ, gardens and plenty of off-road parking.

Guests are welcome to visit the horses in the barn next to the property (prior arrangement with the owner), please supervise children for their safety.

This holiday cottage is spacious, yet intimate, and commands beautiful views of the countryside surrounding the peaceful village of Sheldon, only 3 miles from the market town of Bakewell. The oldest part of the cottage dates from 1800 and has been converted skilfully into a living room with tasteful furnishings, original beams, exposed stone walls and a large fireplace with a multi-fuel burner. There is a large dining area adjacent to the living room and a kitchen which leads into a south-facing conservatory, ideal for breakfast and relaxing. There is a downstairs toilet and utility area. Upstairs has three large double bedrooms (two with en-suite showers) and a bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a 6ft zip and link bed which can be used as a double bed or two single beds. The cottage has Sky TV and wi-fi internet access. Only a few steps from the main cottage is a games room and studio apartment. The large, heated games room has a pool table and table tennis table as well as a drying room for wet clothes and boots. Above the games room is the studio with sitting room and a double bedroom with en-suite. The sitting room has a sofa bed (for alternative sleeping only) and a TV. The cottage stands in an enclosed garden which has driveway parking for four vehicles, flower beds and two lawns. The larger lawn overlooks the nearby fields and hills, and is ideal for ball games. It adjoins a stone-flagged patio area with a built-in barbecue and outside table and chairs. Sheldon has a pub close to the cottage which is friendly and provides good food. The village is within easy reach of Bakewell and Ashford-on-the-Water, and is an excellent starting point for walking, exploring the countryside and visiting Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, The Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath, the caves around Castleton and many other attractions in the Peak District. This heart-warming retreat is perfect for couples and families alike seeking a rural location yet halfway between the bustling cities of Nottingham and Derby, also an easy drive away from the wonderful Peak District National Park. The cottage, built for salt mill workers is 18th century, and its name originates from Wilne Lane which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.

Today the town provides a host of fine eateries, good shops, a fascinating museum and at the heart of the town, Leys Hall Park provides a lovely setting for a host of recreational activities including bowls, mini golf, tennis, boating and a children’s play area. Enjoy a thrilling day at Gulliver’s Kingdom with its owl maze, water gardens, nature trails, exhilarating rides and cable car trips over the magnificent Matlock Gorge.

Originally a much loved home rather than a holiday let, Silk Hill Stables still retains its homely ambiance with many original features and great attention to detail. This spacious one bedroom stable conversion is on a working livery and offers comfortable accommodation in scenic rural surroundings on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Sympathetically renovated throughout, they combine character and charm together with the all-important wood burner to cuddle up in front of on a cold winters evening. The cottage is part of a Grade II listed former inn believed to date back to the 1600s. In its prime The Wheatsheaf Inn is reported to have been a very popular public house. In 1880 Florence Nightingale considered purchasing the property to convert into a coffee house and reading rooms, to offer an alternative to alcohol for the working man, as all-night drinking sessions were not uncommon at that time.

You can enjoy countryside, forest and canalside walks right from the doorstep of these perfect retreats, while the more serious outdoor enthusiasts can head to the magnificent Peak District National Park to experience some of the finest scenery that England has to offer. A real must is a visit back in time to Crich Tramway Village, where you can take a trip through history at The National Tramway Museum, or explore the magnificent Chatsworth House in Bakewell, a filming location for the feature film ’Pride and Prejudice’, as the handsome Mr Darcy’s Pemberley Manor, set within vast grounds and filled with a magnificent collection, including artefacts from Ancient Egypt, some of Europe’s best art collections and modern sculpture.
