This attractive, terraced stone cottage is set in a quiet corner on the edge of Chapel-en-le-Frith, outside the pretty village of Combs, which appeals to walkers and has a lovely pub/restaurant. Located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, the cottage is warm, welcoming and deceptively spacious, and is perfectly placed for exploring this beautiful part of the High Peak. Traditionally furnished with a homely feel, this charming cottage has character beams and a cosy living room, perfect for relaxing in, whilst the front bedroom has a stunning view over Combs Reservoir. Chapel-en-le-Frith means ‘Chapel in the Forest’, the ‘Chapel’ being the old Norman church which still stands in the market square with its original stocks. The forest has been replaced over the years by lovely old stone cottages. Market day is still Thursday, but is no longer a cattle market! The market place was filmed in the BBC drama ‘The Village’, where the Kings Arms featured as the old pub.
The Peak District is a paradise for walkers, cyclists and climbers, with fantastic walks and cycle trails from the doorstep; Rose Cottage is within 5 minutes’ drive of Kinder Scout National Nature Reserve, close to Edale and Hope Valley. Dating back to 1871, The Old Sunday School can be found on the lower level of the Grade II listed Fernilee Methodist Chapel and offers the opportunity for a truly unique stay within the Peak District National Park. The incredibly exciting project which has seen the conversion of the old Sunday School into fabulous self-catering guest accommodation has involved the local and wider community, as well as attracting support from all over the world and quite wonderfully unearthed a time capsule from 150 years ago.
