This delightful cottage can be found on the edge of the Peak District in the picturesque village of Cutthorpe, down a private country lane on the owner’s non-working farm of 2 acres. Green Farm is surrounded by fields, woodland, footpaths and bridleways with direct access to the Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Country Park. Tawny Owl Barn is a beautifully converted stone barn, situated over two floors, retaining many original features. The ground floor lays claim to a cosy living room complete with a warming wood burner, leather sofas, exposed stone walls and wooden beams. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen/dining room, a great social space with a large dining table so you can have a home cooked meal with all the family, as well as a single bedroom with an oak sliding barn door. Head upstairs where you will find two en-suite bedrooms with varnished, natural wooden floors, one with a double bed and one with twin beds. Double glazed and centrally heated throughout, this barn is perfect for families and groups all year round.
Outside, there is a fully enclosed private garden with a patio table and chairs, a barbeque and views over open countryside. There is a gate giving access to the fully enclosed hot tub (which is available all year for an additional charge, payable locally). This also includes the supply of additional towels and dressing gowns. We have a one acre paddock to exercise your dog in. Up to two well behaved dogs.
Cutthorpe has two pubs within walking distance that are dog friendly and serve food. It has a pretty village green and benefits from panoramic views over Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire. The village is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, yet is only 3 miles from The popular market town of Chesterfield. Its perfect location allows you to explore historic houses, walking, cycling and visiting the tourist towns of Bakewell, Matlock, Castleton, Buxton, Eyam and Hathersage. If its stately homes, castles and gardens you would like to visit, the magnificent Chatsworth House is only 10 minutes drive away; the grounds and house will provide a full day out. Within 30 minutes you can also visit Packwood house, Bolsover castle, Renishaw hall, Haddon hall and Hardwick hall.

For those that are more active, there are numerous options varying from local walks from your door, to more adventurous walks in the Peak District. Cyclists are also well catered for with a variety of road and off road tracks and trails. Additionally there is shooting, canoeing, horse riding, go ape, abseiling, climbing, fishing and golf all available nearby. In the pretty village of Middleton-by-Wirksworth, close to the High Peak Trail and near to Wirksworth, Cromford, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Carsington Water, the location is second to none! There are also many fantastic walks available direct from the door for those who enjoy exploring on foot. Cromford nestles in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site and is home to the Arkwright Museum. On site there is a wonderful shopping outlet as well as the working mills showing how the textiles were produced years ago. A couple of miles away you will discover Carsington Water offering watersports and cycle hire as well as an excellent visitors centre with a restaurant and coffee shop. Heritage enthusiasts will enjoy the Ecclesbourne Valley railways in nearby Wirksworth, and the fabulous Tramway Museum in Crich along the valley. Climbers are spoilt for choice with the Gritstone Black Rocks a short walk away, and the superb limestone crags nearby to explore. Let’s not forget the amazing stately homes and gardens dotted around this beautiful area to explore, such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall to name but a few. Enjoy quality family time by staying in the beautiful area of the Peak District on the owner’s working livestock farm, where there is no light pollution and a great location for stargazing at night. Carr View (Ref UK36953) is one of two holiday properties finished to an extremely high standard and the owner takes great pride in ensuring you have the perfect stay. On the ground floor you will enter into the boot room, which has a neatly placed washing machine in a cupboard, kick your boots off and enter into the beautifully designed open plan kitchen which has all you need to enjoy your self-catering holiday with the dining room which has ample seating for six guests made up of chairs and a bench. The living room is very cosy with comfy sofas and an electric wood burner to bring a wonderful sense of relaxation to the room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, all with zip and link beds that can be made into twins on request, the master bedroom has a slightly larger bed and an en-suite. The family bathroom carries the same quality as the rest of the house and has been done beautifully, with walk in shower and bath.
Outside is a garden with a patio area and lawn, perfect to watch the sun rise and set. There is also a river running through the site, and a lake giving the opportunity for some cold water wild swimming!
The helpful owners, that live on-site, are on hand should you need anything, and provide luxury towels, complimentary toiletries, a welcome pack and even a Christmas tree for holidays throughout December.
There are electric car charging points just 5 minutes away in The Anglers Rest pub car park, and just 10 minutes away in the Hope village car park.
The location of this property offers seclusion with many fantastic countryside walks from the doorstep and a National Cycle Route nearby, so you wouldn’t really need to take the car. Or alternatively, a short drive into Castleton to visit the caves or venture into nearby towns of Bakewell and Buxton. Absorb the life of a working farm in the Peak District by visiting the cows, watching the lambs play and the chickens from the dining room window. This property really is the perfect base to explore the Hope Valley region of the Peak District, and close by is garden centre with café, a pottery and bike hire. Two pubs within 1 mile.

This cosy cottage has been renovated in 2022 to a very high standard, where great thought and craftmanship has gone into every aspect making it a fantastic base for your Peak District base.
The ground floor comprises of a small but adequate kitchen with dishwasher and all the equipment you should require. The sitting room offers comfortable seating, TV and wood burner effect electric fire, there is also a dining table and chairs. The bathroom is also located on the ground floor with shower over bath. Upstairs are two bedrooms, the master offering a double bed and the second bedroom has two singles. Outside there is an outhouse storing washing machine/tumbler and sink. There is parking for 1 car and an open patio area with outdoor furniture and BBQ overlooking the village.
Taddington village is in the heart of the Peak District and it has a great pub serving fantastic food within walking distance of the property. You can head out on foot on endless walks or explore the local towns of Bakewell, Buxton and Chatsworth plus lots more!
