There is a large garden where you can meet the animals and wander down to the bottom fields, a natural environment where you can sit and watch the wildlife. You can even have a go at fishing from the riverbank. Carpenters Tinney is an ideal place to switch off and re-energize.

The gated decking area with the shared, heated, outdoor 5m swimming pool is located just outside the courtyard. A hot tub is available for the ultimate treat (open from Sept to the end of June), but as this may not appeal to everyone, it is at an extra charge. You have your own sitting-out area, and in the courtyard there is a small stone barn where there are toys, body boards, wind breaks and even buckets and spades that you can borrow.

Use of the owners’ washing machine & tumble dryer is available at cost. One small/medium sized dog is welcome and there is an allocated area for your dog to be let off the lead.

Many bird species can be seen in the area as it is so quiet here and foxes and badgers are often seen on a summer’s evening.

A short drive away is the beautiful Tamar Valley dividing Devon and Cornwall, with picturesque and historical riverside villages including Morewellham. Within minutes you can be venturing out onto the Dartmoor National Park with over 250,000 acres of wild rugged open moorland, a haven for hikers or dog walkers. There are many exciting places to visit including Morwellham Quay and the National Trust properties of Cotehele, Buckland Abbey and Lydford Gorge with its White Lady Waterfall.

The historic market town of Tavistock is just 6 miles away and is a popular town with indoor pannier market and local shops selling locally produced foods.
