Just 17 miles from the breathtaking North Cornish coast and many dog friendly beaches, with excellent surfing, pretty coves and dramatic coastal walks along with shopping, leisure facilities, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Holsworthy, 8 miles, has a good selection of local shops and supermarkets along with a weekly market. The market town of Okehampton and Launceston with its historic castle are a short drive away. Coastal and country walking, golf, surfing, fishing, horse riding and cycling are all on offer close by and Dartmoor National Park is a must for nature lovers. Beaworthy, EnglandGlebe Farm Cottage is a former cider barn attached to the traditional stone farmhouse at Glebe Farm, which is situated in a quiet location on the Devon/Cornwall border, with stunning views of Dartmoor, yet within easy reach of the award-winning seaside town of Bude and the Atlantic Coast. This wonderfully presented, well-equipped two-bedroom cottage provides spacious accommodation for families or couples wanting a relaxing break.
The kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you need for preparing a lovely home cooked meal. The living/dining room is comfortably furnished with a two-seater sofa, which can be a double sofa bed on request, two armchairs, Smart TV, DVD player and a dining area. As the evening draws to a close, venture up to the first floor to discover two double bedrooms; one with a standard double and the other with a kingsize bed. The accommodation is completed by a well-appointed family bathroom. Outside, guests can enjoy the private enclosed garden which has beautiful countryside views and plenty of outdoor seating. There are three stables with grazing available (at cost, by arrangement with owner), and well-behaved dogs are welcome too. Maps, details of local attractions in Devon and Cornwall, board games, puzzles and a few good reads can be found in the cottage.
For the fishing enthusiasts, Legge Farm Fisheries are across the lane and yoga and relaxation classes can be arranged too. The friendly village of Highampton is just a 5-minute drive from the property, where this a village store and lovely thatched pub serving food. The neighbouring village of Sheepwash is also within easy reach. This part of rural Devon is known as Ruby Country, ideal for walkers and countryside lovers, and is also within easy reach of the Tarka Trail which offers spectacular off road walking and cycling. Stroll along the River Torridge where you are more than likely to spot an otter family and maybe a kingfisher or two. Further afield, the stunning coastline offers plenty of beaches, ideal for surfing, swimming and rock pool gazing. The coastal towns of Bude, Clovelly, Bideford and Westward Ho! are all within a 35-50 minute drive where you will find traditional seaside activities, surfing and the South West Coastal Path. The pretty fishing villages of Padstow, Rock and Port Isaac, made famous by the the programme Doc Martin, are well worth a visit, as is mystical Tintagel with the legendary King Arthur’s Castle.
A shorter drive south takes you to the wild beauty of Dartmoor National Park where you can have a delightful pub lunch in the village of Belstone, or take a walk on the moors and see Dartmoor ponies. Exmoor, Bodmin Moor, the RHS Rosemoor at Great Torrington, several National Trust properties and a good variety of visitor attractions are all within easy reach. Ideal for families or couples, such as the Big Sheep at Bideford, Trethorne Leisure Farm at Launceston, the Miniature Pony Centre at Moretonhampstead, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
