Nestled within 240 acres of unspoilt farmland, in the glorious South Hams midway between Dartmoor and the stunning south Devon beaches, Wheeldon Farm Cottages are the perfect choice for family, friends and couples to enjoy a relaxing retreat or an action packed escape at any time of year. The four delightful, pet-friendly barn conversions (refs 27214, 27215, 27216 and UKC748), which could be booked together for larger parties, sit within a lovely courtyard setting surrounded by miles of footpaths and green lanes, ideal for walking or cycling. The master bedroom in each property features a flatscreen TV, and home-made meals can be pre-ordered and delivered to the cottage (arranged direct with the owner). The cottages lie just a short distance from some of south Devon’s finest beaches and tourist attractions, including the historic town of Totnes which is just 15 minutes away and sits on the River Dart with cruises down river to Greenway and Dartmouth. A cosmopolitan town, Totnes, 7 miles away, has a vast array of independent shops, weekly markets, galleries, leisure centre and many lovely restaurants, bistros and cafés. The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are 40 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 15-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth, and the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, both 7 miles away, has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks.

Guests of these cottages can also enjoy a range of on-site facilities suitable for all the family, including a heated indoor swimming pool (available via a booking system) with a private changing room and shower. There is a large games room set over two floors, including a fitness room with a cross trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and exercise bike. The top floor of the games room has a full-size American pool table, big sofa and Sky TV. The bottom floor has table tennis and table football. On-site there is also a laundry and ironing room. If you are looking for adventure and an adrenalin rush, then Wheeldon Farm Cottages will not disappoint. The Wheeldon Off-Road Centre, adjacent to the cottages, boasts a purpose-built, 30,000 square foot indoor arena (split in separate halves for motorbikes and bicycles) and junior training circuit, and is the ideal year-round venue for the whole family to learn to ride a motorcycle in a fun and controlled environment. Discounted rates are available for children and adults during the school holidays (booking by arrangement and on arrival), providing children and adults with the opportunity to experience the ultimate, two-wheel off-road adventure for the first time. The instructors at Wheeldon Farm are all ACU accredited and will guide the children through their paces every step of the way. For some activities, all the kit, clothing, boots, gloves, helmets and fun bikes are provided. All that’s needed is the enthusiasm to have a great deal of fun! Wheeldon Farm now offers all of it’s holiday cottage customers a free 1 hour ‘taster’ ride on our professionally maintained Haibike electric bikes, after which they are available to hire. The bikes are perfect for exploring the beautiful South Devon countryside in an environmentally friendly way. We can advise you on the best routes to ride and places to explore.

In addition to all the motorbike fun, a range of other activities can also be organised locally, including horse riding, golf, go-karting and trout and carp fishing. Also, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle and archery are available - these are run by a fully qualified instructor and all equipment is provided. The activities run on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday. Prices will be charged accordingly when bookings are made. Please note, extra activities and catering requests must be pre-booked with Wheeldon Farm Cottages prior to guests’ arrival at the site. Set in a rural location with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.This large, imposing, detached country house is the ideal place for a large family or group to come and stay whilst enjoying all that North Devon has to offer. The house has large living areas, a very well equipped kitchen with a quintessential Aga. There is a spacious dining room which is ideal for celebrating a special occasion, and well-furnished bedrooms, the majority of which have en-suite facilities, complete this charming house. Outside, there is the use of a private hot tub as well as a private swimming pool. There is a large well tended garden with plenty of space and sitting out areas for all to enjoy and a play area for small children. Located just outside the village of Beaford, there is also a local pub within walking distance.
North Devon has plenty to see and do, and is home to some of the best beaches in the country including Woolacombe and Saunton. The nearest beach is at Instow and is ideal for children or just a great place to walk off life’s stresses, and then enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants along the front. The town of Great Torrington is only a short drive away and has most amenities you may require. The larger regional town of Barnstaple has a busy high street, the Pannier Market and famous Butchers Row. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. For the younger ones a visit to the Big Sheep or Milky Way Adventure Parks is a good option. There is walking on Dartmoor or hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail, and there is also golf and fishing available locally.
Beaford House is also a registered wedding venue and as well as the large house, there is also access to a great, well equipped function room should you decide to spend your big day here. Shop 5 miles, pub ¾ mile.

Nestled within the heart of North Devon’s rural ’Tarka the Otter’ country in beautiful countryside, yet just 10 miles from the glorious North Devon coast, Stowford Lodge Holiday Cottages are the perfect choice for a relaxing holiday at any time of year. The four pretty barn conversions, Warren Cottage (ref UKC2098), Halcyon Cottage (ref UKC2099), Tarquol Cottage (ref UKC2100) and Old Nog Cottage (ref UKC2101) are terraced and sit within a courtyard, whilst Tarka’s Holt Log Cabin (ref UKC2102) is detached, and all five enjoy use of the owner’s 6 acres of private parkland comprising an orchard, with a spacious children’s play area with swings and a climbing frame and animals to see including two Dartmoor ponies, sheep and hens. There’s also a level 1-acre field with a football goal and rugby posts, which is also ideal for kite flying and cricket. The ideal choice for a romantic break for two or a family holiday, the cottages are close to a wooded walk amongst numerous young trees running alongside the pony and sheep field, and an indoor heated swimming pool.
The holiday cottages are 3 miles from Great Torrington, where shops, pubs, restaurants, a public indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and sports hall can be found. The stunning beaches of the North Devon coast are less than 10 miles away - with sailing, fishing and a sandy beach at Instow, surfing at Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay, Putsborough and Woolacombe, as well as lofty cliffs and headlands along the rocky fringes of Hartland. Lots of activities for friends and families nearby including golf, horse riding, sailing, fishing, shooting, cycle hire and walking. The Tarka Trail long distance footpath and cycle way passes within ¼ mile and the RHS gardens at Rosemoor are less than 2 miles away. The beautiful moorland areas of Exmoor and Dartmoor are also within easy reach. This picturesque location provides the perfect base for a leisurely and peaceful holiday, with many coastal, woodland and moorland walks in the surrounding area and many local places of interest to visit. Grattan Cottage (ref UK11036) and Manor Cottage (ref UK11037) are set within the extensive grounds of the historic and Grade II listed Grattan Manor, just outside the village of Bow. A freshwater spring within the grounds is the apparent exact centre of Devon. Both cottages are furnished and equipped to a very good standard and each has its own unique character and charm. Wood burners, well-equipped kitchens and private patio areas all contribute to the appeal of the cottages. Both Grattan Cottage, which is detached, and Manor Cottage, a wing of a property, overlook the old orchard, a large lawned area with some of the remaining fruit trees. It’s ideal for sitting out on a warm summer’s day or taking the dog for an early morning stretch. Within the orchard, each cottage has a private sitting-out area; Grattan Cottage has a raised gazebo and the use of a barbecue hut in the orchard. Croquet is occasionally available by prior arrangement with the Lord of the Manor, i.e. the owner. All-weather tennis court (please bring your own equipment). Outdoor, open, shared swimming pool - available in the summer months and later if weather allows - in the attractive walled garden.

The village of Bow is a short distance away and has a pub and well-stocked local convenience store. Due to the central location, the cottages make an ideal base from which to explore the north and south of Devon, as well as the beautiful surrounding Devon countryside. The regional towns of Credit and Okehampton (considered the gateway to the Dartmoor National Park) are easily reached, and the towns provide a good range of shops and amenities.

On Dartmoor there are plenty of walks for all ages and abilities to enjoy this stunning and dramatic area, as well as some pretty villages with pubs and tea rooms. There are many fine beaches and coves along north or south Devon, steam trains here and there, and a trip to Lundy Island can be arranged from Bideford pier. Ask the owner for information on river boat excursions along the Dart, especially from Totnes on Dartmoor. Numerous places of interest close include the R.H.S. gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal (glass blowing etc.) and the unique, historic fishing village of Clovelly is not far from Port Isaac (remember ’Doc Martin?’). Visit the last castle to be built in England at Castle Drogo (National Trust), with a nearby excellent riverside pub. There is golf at Okehampton and nearby Crediton, or you can hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail at Great Torrington. Or simply relax amongst the beautiful grounfs surrounding the Manor.
