In the heart of Shaldon village, and just an easy stroll to the local shops, pubs and restaurants, this quaint, character, semi-detached fisherman’s cottage, with beams and bay windows, is furnished and decorated to a very good standard. The cottage also has a private courtyard garden with views of the estuary and sea, ideal for al-fresco dining. The on road parking in the village is sometimes limited and has restrictions. The village car park is 600 yards away, along the beach side, at cost. Shaldon is a picturesque seaside village nestling at the mouth of the River Teign, a river renowned for its cockles, mussels and salmon. If you enjoy the water, the river, beach and estuary will delight you, not to mention the famous Shaldon ferry which crosses the river to Teignmouth throughout the day. Children will love the sandy beaches and Smugglers Tunnel. Adults and children alike will enjoy the botanical gardens and small zoo, and no visit would be complete without a traditional Devon cream tea. Visitors to Shaldon will always remember the quaint cottages, narrow streets, village shops and a great choice of restaurants, cafés and inns. Teignmouth can be found across the river, Newton Abbot and Torquay are 5 miles away, Dartmoor, with its superb rugged scenery, is only 12 miles, and a little further, Exeter is 14 miles. From Torquay, take a trip to the theatre, or see the penguins wandering freely at Living Coasts. Exeter and Newton Abbot racecourses, several golf courses, family theme parks, Paignton Zoo, sailing and fishing are all within easy reach. Enjoy the wild beauty of Dartmoor National Park, with its abundance of wildlife and dramatic landscapes, or take advantage of the many walking opportunities along the coastal paths. Numerous National Trust properties are close by including Agatha Christie’s Greenway. Steam trains travel from Kingswear to Paignton and Totnes to Buckfastleigh. Visit historic Dartmouth with its naval history, castle and bustling boat harbour. The South Devon Coast will be on your doorstep. Enjoy a variety of events throughout the year, including fêtes, classical and folk music festivals, the Water Carnival and Shaldon Regatta in August. Beach café 25 yards. Shaldon, England
Harp House is a deceptively spacious property situated right in the heart of the popular seaside village of Shaldon. With a vast array of restaurants, pubs, fantastic butchers, bakeries, and local pharmacies. Not to mention it is just a short walk to the beach! As you enter the property in the ground floor entrance hallway there is a very handy utility space housing the washing machine, a great place to hang up coats and store shoes. Upstairs to the first floor is where the bright and airy living room is located with its floor-to-ceiling windows with beautiful shutters. These large windows lead out onto a front-facing balcony (Disclaimer: The balcony has a low-height wrought iron balustrade railing so guests should use it at their own risk). The kitchen/diner is opposite the living area which is fully equipped with a wide variety of appliances for guests to use. This area then leads out onto the small courtyard area with its bench and dining table seating. Upstairs to the second floor is where the remaining bedrooms are located. One of the bedrooms contains a king-size bed with wardrobes and a chest of drawers for guests to store their belongings away in.
