    As well as having the characterful fishing villages of Lybster, Helmsdale and Brora close by, the town of Wick is not far away and John O’Groats a little further with dramatic Duncansby Head well worth a visit. The drive across to Cape Wrath is sublime, and the off-the-beaten road via Altnaharra or Kinbrace is a true Highland highlight.

    Set in the amazing big-sky landscape of Caithness you can see the Pentland Firth and the island of Stroma from The Pig Shed (and on a clear day you can see the Orkney Islands across the firth.). The accommodation is simple but brilliantly executed. Entering The Pig Shed there’s a helpful vestibule area which leads to the shower room and the main studio living space. The open-plan living space is beautifully finished and well-equipped for a self-catering holiday. It’s a place where a week or more would be very comfortable for a couple with dogs. Entering the main open-plan space there’s the kitchen/dining/living area first and the bedroom beyond over by the large rural and sea view window.
    The local area is a treat for those visiting and staying at The Pig Shed. The Gill’s Bay ferry to Orkney is only half a mile away, so you can be over on the amazing islands within ninety minutes from The Pig Shed. Iconic John O’Groats is nearby and its neighbouring headland Duncansby is worth a visit – amazing seabirds and sea stacks. The Castle of Mey is a short drive away and so too is another RSPB hotspot, Dunnet Head. Dunnet Beach is only eight miles drive away and as well as being a beautiful stretch of sand is also an amazing surfing beach.
    The towns of Thurso and Wick are only a short drive away and beyond the NC500 will take you to more outstanding places to see and visit.     The Barn is set in a peaceful location with parking for two cars. As soon as you enter the barn and step down into the open-plan living space you instantly relax. The décor, lighting, stonework and marble features are throughout The Barn and feel very opulent. On the ground floor you have a well-equipped kitchen, open plan with the living room and dining room. There is dining for four, a TV and sumptuous seating. There is a door leading out to the private garden area with seating for four. Back inside The Barn, the family bathroom has a walk-in shower and is located next to the ground floor master bedroom. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed, high-quality linens and storage space.     This holiday home is suited to anyone wanting somewhere that is luxurious, peaceful, and close to a lot of amazing places to visit. You might be going to the opera at Glyndebourne or visiting Lewes Castle and Museum. You might have spent the day exploring High Rocks, a 3¼-hectare geological site of special scientific interest west of Tunbridge Wells. If you want to take in the Sussex countryside by train, then the Bluebell Steam Railway is a must, or take The Lavender Line at Isfield station for a two-mile round trip between the village of Isfield and Worth Holt. There are some great houses to visit in the area. Anne of Cleves House is less than 5 miles away, and historic Charleston House and Firle Place are less than 20 minutes away. There are lots of trails and countryside to explore either by foot or bike and after a day of seeing all that the area has to offer you get to head back to the tranquillity of The Barn at Lower Morgans House and relax the day away.

    Spring Harbour sits in splendid isolation on the edge of the small village of High Hurstwood between the market towns of Crowborough and Uckfield in East Sussex. It is perfect for enjoying the rolling countryside of the High Weald with no shortage of local attractions or places of interest to visit practically on the doorstep. Brighton Eastbourne Lewes Hastings and Alfriston are an easy day trip. Half an hour away Royal Tunbridge Wells is a great shopping and dining destination and if you are planning a trip to London this is the easiest commute. There are ample public footpaths and cycle routes to explore and an exhaustive supply of excellent country pubs to visit. Nearby Ashdown Forest covers 14,000 acres of lowland heathland that has never been cultivated and offers extensive opportunities for walking. It was famously Henry VIII’s hunting ground - but is also a must for all Winnie the Pooh fans. The adjacent village of Hartfield was home to A. A. Milne. The view from Spring Harbour draws your eye to the South Downs and Firle Beacon towards Birling Gap on the coast.
