    This is a 200 year old Cotswold stone cottage nestled amongst the trees in Ruscombe almost on top of the Cotswold Way with fabulous views across the five valleys area of Stroud. Recently modernised and decorated the end terraced cottage is cosy with a fresh and modern cottage feel. Dogs with well-behaved owners are welcome as are muddy boots and soggy walkers.

    The house has three floors with kitchen, dining and living rooms on the ground floor, three bedrooms on the first floor, each with a king size bed. The top floor is the old attic and consists of two rooms, one with a king-sized bed and the other has a day bed with trundle. This space is nice for parents with younger children as the day bed can be configured as two singles.

    There’s a log fired burner in the living room for those cold, wintry and wet days, and a patio at the front for sitting out in the sun when it shines. There’s also a secluded patio round the back that catches the sun on summer evenings. It’s a family home with one shared bathroom on the first floor with a shower over the bath. The downstairs loo by the front door is the second loo in the house. The kitchen has all the basics you might need with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge freezer etc.

    This spot is ideal for walkers, mountain bikers, families, and dog owners. There are many ways of stepping out of the house for a walk to spend hours in the woods and hills and Standish woods nearby is popular with off road cyclists. The Cotswold way passes close by and is easily joined by following walking routes direct from the front gate. The Star Inn and the Vine Tree Inn are a few minutes’ walk away, we have a small, volunteer run, village shop for all your necessities and the 63 bus will take you down the hill into Stroud with its farmer’s market, pubs, and shops. Stroud has a direct rail connection to London and Cheltenham and despite our rural location, we’re only fifteen minutes from the M5.

    There is one off street parking space next to the house. There is some on street parking as well. If you do decide to leave the car behind the 63 bus picks up on the main road and is frequent and reliable and will get you into Stroud and Nailsworth or Gloucester from where there are good links to almost anywhere.

    If you can tear yourself away, the area is full of attractions for interesting days out. The Hazeling Hideaway lies amidst The Cotswold countryside and is close to Stroud and Painswick. Located not far from where poet Laurie Lee was brought up, you can walk in his footsteps by following the Laurie Lee Wildlife Way which takes in four Nature Reserves. The trail is marked by wooden posts carved with the famous author’s poems. Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust owns four beautiful nature reserves in the Slad Valley called Frith Wood, Snows Farm, Swifts Hill and, thanks to a very successful fundraising appeal, the new Laurie Lee Wood. People come from all over Europe to see the beauty of these valleys. The area is a magnet for walkers, explorers, and cyclists. This is a place you will want to return to again and again.
