Easy reach are beaches at Hayling Island, Southsea, and West Wittering’s and just a 25-minute drive from the nautical city of Portsmouth with the amazing views from the top of Spinnaker Tower, designer outlet shopping and waterside dining at Gunwharf Quays. Day trips to the Isle of Wight and HMS Victory and the Mary Rose Exhibition, The D-Day Museum, Southsea castle and Blue Reef Aquarium. The historic cathedral city of Winchester, 30 minutes away, boasting many historic attractions such as Winchester Cathedral, King Arthur’s Round Table and Jane Austen’s House. The city is host to a variety of events throughout the year including street theatre, jazz festivals and outdoor cinema and film events. Also known for its Christmas market with outdoor ice rink.

Parts of this characterful Grade II listed property dates back to the 15th century, with some later additions, mainly in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is steeped in history, and was formerly a pub, a school, a place for the manufacture of bespoke bricks and tiles, and also a doctors surgery. This traditional, detached family home enjoys some charming features such as beams, tiled floors, inglenook fireplaces, original oak floors, wood panelling in the dining room, a Rayburn, walled garden and a wood burner. The house is set just back from the main road which leads to the town, (there may be some road noise although the property is secondary glazed), and is conveniently located for local pubs and restaurants - the nearest only two minutes walk away, and a comprehensive range of independent shops, such as a butchers, bakery, greengrocers and more. Bishop’s Waltham is a popular medieval market town, and has interesting places of interest such as the 12th century ruins of Bishop’s Waltham Palace, the museum and the Roman Church.
The glorious South Downs are within easy reach, as well as the Queen Elizabeth Country Park. The naval city of Portsmouth is 14 miles away, with its historic dockyard, home to Nelson’s Victory and The Mary Rose, along with waterside dining, extensive designer shops and ferry trips to the Isle of Wight. Winchester, Southampton with its shopping centre and the New Forest with extensive heathland walks, riding and cycling opportunities are approximately 40 minutes away. Historic Chichester with its cathedral and festival theatre, the city of Winchester, beaches at West Witterings or Hayling Island, the Watercress steam train, Jane Austens’ House, Gilbert White’s house and Birdworld, Marwell Zoo and Peppa Pig World are all easily reached. This lovely, light and airy, detached bungalow stands in an elevated position and enjoys super panoramic views over The Solent to the Isle of Wight and beyond. Directly opposite is a pebbled beach with cafés and skate park, it makes the ideal base for all to enjoy a beach holiday, to explore the area or simply relax. The open plan living space has an abundance of natural light due to the huge window which spans across the front of the bungalow, from here is the ideal place to relax and watch yachts, cruise liners and other nautical activity. This lovely property has three bedrooms, one king-size, one double and one twin, along with a family bathroom, plus an additional toilet. There is an enclosed private garden and private parking to the rear of the property and a large front garden, both perfect for entertaining and having barbecues. If it’s a pub lunch that you are looking for, there is the highly recommended one located only a 10-minute walk away. There is also another four local pubs within a 20-minute walk.
The pebbled beach opposite is great for swimming (if brave enough to take the plunge!) and fishing. As the tide goes out you’ll be able to spot adults and children in the rockpools crabbing. Lee-on-the-Solent is the home of the hovercraft, find out the history for yourself at the Hovercraft Museum, which is open to the public on Saturdays. Along with this there is the local St Faiths Church of England Parish and Lee-on-the-Solent High Street which, has an abundance of local businesses including a bakery, coffee shops, wine merchants, beauty salons, vintage shops and many more!
Gosport is the next town along which has a foot passenger ferry (every 15 minutes, or 7 minutes during peak times). It takes about 4 minutes on the ferry to get across to the historic Portsmouth harbour with its cosmopolitan feel and extensive shopping including designer outlets, as well as waterside dining, a comedy club, leisure complex, nightclubs, museums, galleries and city tours by foot or boat. Whilst over in Portsmouth visit the Spinnaker Tower for the views or enjoy a meal at the cloud or waterfront café’s, visit the Olde Towne, Gunwharf Quays, the dockyard where you can visit HMS Victory and HMS Warrior. You can also take a ferry across to the Isle of Wight for a great day out!
