Black Pan Holiday Cottage is a beautifully presented ground floor apartment, with its own enclosed rear garden, that adjoins the owners home and is accessed by a bridle path. It is clear a lot of time and effort has been put into the creation of this delightful holiday home. The layout has been extremely well thought out with an innovative space saving premium design kitchen installed and an open plan living/dining/kitchen with Wi-Fi. There is a lovely spacious shower room with monsoon shower, his and hers wash basins, a large double bedroom with a top of the range mattress added for a great night’s sleep, and a useful dressing table/writing desk to write all those postcards. The owner has a background of working with animals and has ensured that the property is also more than dog friendly, making it the perfect base to explore all that the south east side of the Isle of Wight has to offer with your four-legged friends. The rear garden has a lockable gate, outside tap for the cyclists amongst you.

The apartment is located in Lake, which is situated between the popular seaside towns of Sandown and Shanklin. The nearest beach at Lake is moments from the property and shares the same gently sloping golden sands and clear swimming waters of its neighbours. At the rear of the beach, the cliff rises steeply creating a dramatic looking natural screen and shelter for the beach at the foot of which runs the sea wall, path and cycleway. The beach can be accessed from a set of steps from the top of the cliff path which is close to Lake’s Island-line train station. Because this beach is tucked away and not as straightforward to reach as its resort neighbours, it is very often quieter during the busier months, making it a peaceful alternative for a day on the beach. As the waters are quieter this is a great beach for surfing and water sports as the sea is shallow and clear. There is an instructional school which is located at the back of the beach that offers a whole range of activities for all ages and abilities. There are beach huts which you can look to hire and also a number of benches to sit on along the sea wall path when the tide is further in. The walk along the sea wall between Sandown and Shanklin along the back of the beach is highly recommended as it offers a wide, flat path which is ideal for both walkers and cyclists.

Sandown is a truly traditional British beach resort with pier, amusements, pitch ’n’ putt, Isle of Wight Zoo and the Dinosaur Isle attraction at the northern end of the esplanade towards Yaverland and Culver Cliff. At the other end of the path you will reach Shanklin Esplanade which is again packed full of amusements and crazy golf as well as several places to eat. There is also Shanklin Chine to explore, carved by Mother Nature’s own hands over thousands of years. The stunning tree lined gorge cuts its mark from the old village down to the sandy beach and esplanade below. In the evening, the waterfalls and woodland are illuminated, giving the gardens a totally different aspect and atmosphere.

There are numerous attractions across the island to discover for all ages including The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Visit Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Carisbrooke Castle or the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes. The position of Captain’s Cottage couldn’t be better, it is right in the heart of this beautiful seaside resort, with shops, bars, and restaurants on your doorstep. It’s only a 10-minute stroll to the wonderful sandy beaches too. Shanklin is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the island, home to the Old Village and Shanklin Chine. The seafront is packed with amusements, activities, and crazy golf courses. Within a moment’s walk of Captain’s Cottage is the bus station, which has great links to anywhere on the island and there is also an open-top bus in the summer season, great for sight seeing. At the end of the road, there is also a train station, which stops at several coastal towns. Osborne House was once Queen Victoria’s favourite residence and is open to the public and well worth a visit, as are Carisbrook Castle, The Needles rock formations, Robin Hill park with acres of parkland, natural woodland, countryside gardens, adventures, and special events, Ventnor Botanical Gardens and Shanklin Chine, a deep wooded gorge with streams and waterfalls.
The model village at Godshill is also not to be missed as this gives a good overview of the island and its attractions, all in miniature of course. Start your holiday as soon as you hop onto one of the many ferry options, whether you whiz over on the Hovercraft or one of the car ferry links.

As you enter Zues you are greeted by a well-equipped and beautifully furnished apartment. The apartment has an open plan living area, which means you are not missing out on the fun whilst you are cooking. There is a double bedroom and a lovely bathroom with a shower. Zues has an outside seating area where you can relax with your morning coffee or maybe a glass of wine in the evening.
What is truly amazing about Zues is that you can walk to the beach in under 10 minutes. There are many bars and restaurants locally, some on the seafront itself and there is a fabulous cocktail bar on the high street. You can pick up your groceries here as there are two supermarkets in Sandown and corner shops too. There is a revetment walkway from Sandown which takes you to the neighbouring resort of Shanklin. Here you will find the famous Old Village and Shanklin Chine. There are great transport links in Sandown, you can ride the train and visit Ryde, a Victorian town with many bars and restaurants. Or you can hop on a bus to explore the island; in the summer months, there is an open top bus.

Honey Bee Cottage is a beautiful, no smoking, dog-friendly cottage, perfect for a romantic break or family get away. With large gardens to enjoy, you really will be able to unwind here. The cottage has been decorated and furnished beautifully, and you will find this to be very comfortable. Picturesque Winkle Street in Calbourne was originally known as Barrington Row, and it was named after the Barrington family who owned the estate when the first cottages were built in the 1750’s. You will almost certainly be visited by families of ducks that will be eager to be fed. Just a couple of minutes’ drive and you will find Calbourne Water Mill and Rural Museum. Set in 35 acres of rural landscape, this is the only working water mill on the Isle of Wight. Calbourne offers good accessibility by bicycle to the Military Road which is a cyclist’s paradise. There is a secure bike storage should you require. Head on to the west coast of the Isle of Wight where you will find the ancient town of Yarmouth with its plentiful restaurants, shops and bars.
Further west and you will find the most beautiful beaches, along with the iconic, famous landmark attraction, The Needles, which has so much more to enjoy than the stunning views - it is a destination not to be missed. The range of attractions includes the spectacular chairlift ride, taking you on a journey past the coloured sands cliffs of Alum Bay to the beach. Soak up the breathtakingly beautiful views from the beach and enjoy a paddle in the sea. Or get closer to The Needles by taking a pleasure cruise - the sunsets are incredible here.

Longford Cottage has been newly refurbished for 2023, and has been beautifully furnished; this cottage is a great choice for a holiday on the Isle of Wight. There are two double bedrooms, one of which is located on the ground floor, and a further snug with a chair bed and the best view. Havenstreet is a delightful village approximately 2 miles from the seaside resort of Ryde. Havenstreet is home to the award-winning attraction which is the Isle of Wight steam railway. The village also has a great pub which also serves delicious food. There are many cycle trails from the village which will take you through beautiful rolling scenery. The “Island” as locals refer to it, has so much to offer such as The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Blackgang Chine, Dinosaur Isle, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle and Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens are some of the attractions on offer. Hampton House is now available for booking in 2023. This stunning house, with accessed via an electric gate, benefits from parking for six cars, security cameras, air conditioning and has a fast Wi-Fi speed covering the entirety of the property including outside.
The large farmhouse kitchen has all the necessary appliances required for your holiday and the whole property is integrated with a Sonos music system, which includes a connection to the outside space. There is a laundry room with two washing machines and two tumble dryers along with a butler sink. You also have an office space if you have the unfortunate dilemma of having to work whilst on holiday. A games room with a pool table and a darts board is fun for all the family. The formal living room with a cosy fireplace, is perfect for a relaxing evening, but should you wish to dine formally, then you can do so in a separately in a lovely room which seats up to eight people. Solent View is a wonderful three-bedroom holiday home with the extra bonus of a cabin in the back garden which can sleep an extra four guests. The main house is a great size. It has two double bedrooms and a bunk room. Downstairs has a large living/dining room and a lovely big kitchen with all of the appliances you will need.
