Welcome to The Squirrels, a beautiful holiday home set in the countryside yet with everything you need close by. Inside, the spacious open plan living, kitchen and dining area has gorgeous, vaulted ceilings and large doors that flood the room with light yet while the tasteful décor and soft furnishings allow you to cosy up and relax in style. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything you will need during your stay and has a breakfast bar perfect to sit at for your morning cuppa or evening aperitif!
Each of the double bedrooms has been created with a sense of comfort without compromising on the finish, the master has an en-suite shower room while the other two bedrooms share the spacious family bathroom with its fabulous free-standing bath!
Outside, the decked terraced areas have plenty of seating and lead down to the large enclosed lawned area, a wonderful private area to play games or sunbathe.
Winford is a neighbouring district to Apse Heath, which has a small supermarket store, and there is a bigger store a short drive away. You’ll enjoy beautiful woodland walks in the nearby Borthwood Copse, where you will find an array of different trees and plenty of wildlife. The main cycle path from Sandown to Newport is accessed a few minutes away in Alverstone Village and the shopping town of Newport is about 15-20 minutes’ drive away, making this spot an ideal base to explore the whole Island. It is also on a bus route for convenience. Beach 2 ½ miles.

The lodge boasts everything you should need for a quiet getaway. Shanklin, twenty minutes’ walk away or three by train offers many bars, restaurants, the theatre, old village, and world famous Shanklin Chine. Another twenty-minute walk or three minutes by train will bring you to Sandown with its superb sandy beach and pier. Heading towards Sandown, a very short walk will bring you to the path that will lead you down to the glorious beach that offers many cafes. If you want to hire a paddleboard, kayak, or windsurfer then WightWater is the place to visit.
Shanklin seafront makes for a great place to visit. The dinosaur themed crazy golf course is always a popular place to spend a couple of hours. For walkers and cyclists, the lodge is conveniently situated for the footpaths and cycle routes. For E-bikes, outside the lodge you will find outdoor charging sockets. Nearby Lake shops offer several take-away outlets including traditional fish and chips as well as an Indian restaurant. Various other small shops can be found. Coastal Soul has an open-plan living area, combined with the kitchen and dining areas. The living area has a Smart TV with Freeview and Wi-Fi, making this a great place to chill out after a day exploring. Relax into the three-seater sofa or armchair, or step through sliding doors out to the garden which has a large table and chairs/bench with cushions and barbecue (utensils provided) and relax in the summer sun with a glass of your favourite tipple. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm whilst chatting with friends or family in this great social space. Don’t worry about washing up as there is even a dishwasher and washing machine! On the first floor, retreat to one of the two bedrooms for a restful night’s sleep, and you will also find the bathroom on this floor equipped with a shower and bath, for your choice of a relaxing soak or a quick rinse.
Coastal Soul is situated in the seaside village of Lake (between Sandown and Shanklin). Take a 5-minute walk down the path to the sandy beach and promenade which links Sandown to Shanklin. There you will find a friendly café and public restroom, meaning you can spend the whole day on the beach! The coastal path takes you to the public lift in Shanklin where you can find cafés, ice cream shops, crazy golf and amusement arcades.

As you enter Zues you are greeted by a well-equipped and beautifully furnished apartment. The apartment has an open plan living area, which means you are not missing out on the fun whilst you are cooking. There is a double bedroom and a lovely bathroom with a shower. Zues has an outside seating area where you can relax with your morning coffee or maybe a glass of wine in the evening.
What is truly amazing about Zues is that you can walk to the beach in under 10 minutes. There are many bars and restaurants locally, some on the seafront itself and there is a fabulous cocktail bar on the high street. You can pick up your groceries here as there are two supermarkets in Sandown and corner shops too. There is a revetment walkway from Sandown which takes you to the neighbouring resort of Shanklin. Here you will find the famous Old Village and Shanklin Chine. There are great transport links in Sandown, you can ride the train and visit Ryde, a Victorian town with many bars and restaurants. Or you can hop on a bus to explore the island; in the summer months, there is an open top bus.
The Isle of Wight has lots of must-see attractions including Blackgang Chine, the UK’s oldest amusement park and The Needles, the island’s iconic landmark attraction. Fort Spinney Holiday Bungalows comprise two or three bedrooms and are ideally situated close to the beach. They have enclosed rear gardens with outdoor furniture, where you can enjoy an evening sunset drink or Al Fresco dining. Fort Spinney on the beautiful Isle of Wight, is an excellent choice to book your next holiday or short break, nestled just off England’s south coast. The Island is surprisingly easy to reach and only a couple of hours from London, with regular ferries running from Southampton, Portsmouth, and Lymington. You could leave the car behind should you wish, and travel here by rail and high-speed catamaran across the Solent, by booking a combined ticket from any Mainland train station to nearby Sandown.

Yaverland Beach is practically on your doorstep, and voted one of the Island’s best beaches, providing a long stretch of sand and great swimming waters for children and families. Along this stretch you can see the red sandstone through to the white chalk of Culver Cliff, and it is around here that fossil remains can be found; be sure to book a guided fossil walk at the nearby Dinosaur Isle attraction,

Outdoor pursuits on the island really are well-catered for and include horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, and golf. Black Pan Holiday Cottage is a beautifully presented ground floor apartment, with its own enclosed rear garden, that adjoins the owners home and is accessed by a bridle path. It is clear a lot of time and effort has been put into the creation of this delightful holiday home. The layout has been extremely well thought out with an innovative space saving premium design kitchen installed and an open plan living/dining/kitchen with Wi-Fi. There is a lovely spacious shower room with monsoon shower, his and hers wash basins, a large double bedroom with a top of the range mattress added for a great night’s sleep, and a useful dressing table/writing desk to write all those postcards. The owner has a background of working with animals and has ensured that the property is also more than dog friendly, making it the perfect base to explore all that the south east side of the Isle of Wight has to offer with your four-legged friends. The rear garden has a lockable gate, outside tap for the cyclists amongst you.

The apartment is located in Lake, which is situated between the popular seaside towns of Sandown and Shanklin. The nearest beach at Lake is moments from the property and shares the same gently sloping golden sands and clear swimming waters of its neighbours. At the rear of the beach, the cliff rises steeply creating a dramatic looking natural screen and shelter for the beach at the foot of which runs the sea wall, path and cycleway. The beach can be accessed from a set of steps from the top of the cliff path which is close to Lake’s Island-line train station. Because this beach is tucked away and not as straightforward to reach as its resort neighbours, it is very often quieter during the busier months, making it a peaceful alternative for a day on the beach. As the waters are quieter this is a great beach for surfing and water sports as the sea is shallow and clear. There is an instructional school which is located at the back of the beach that offers a whole range of activities for all ages and abilities. There are beach huts which you can look to hire and also a number of benches to sit on along the sea wall path when the tide is further in. The walk along the sea wall between Sandown and Shanklin along the back of the beach is highly recommended as it offers a wide, flat path which is ideal for both walkers and cyclists.

Sandown is a truly traditional British beach resort with pier, amusements, pitch ’n’ putt, Isle of Wight Zoo and the Dinosaur Isle attraction at the northern end of the esplanade towards Yaverland and Culver Cliff. At the other end of the path you will reach Shanklin Esplanade which is again packed full of amusements and crazy golf as well as several places to eat. There is also Shanklin Chine to explore, carved by Mother Nature’s own hands over thousands of years. The stunning tree lined gorge cuts its mark from the old village down to the sandy beach and esplanade below. In the evening, the waterfalls and woodland are illuminated, giving the gardens a totally different aspect and atmosphere.

There are numerous attractions across the island to discover for all ages including The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. With one double bedroom and one twin bedroom it is ideal for smaller families and is also part of our more than dog friendly collection, making it a great base to get out and explore all that the south east side of the Isle of Wight has to offer with your four-legged friend.
For guests choosing to visit the island without their car, a favourable way to reach the property is to take the Wightlink Fast Cat service to Ryde Pier head and then the train to Sandown Station, which is less than a mile from the property. The island has become a real hot spot for cycling enthusiasts, with a choice of challenging off-road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks running along former railway lines. You can cycle across the width of the island to the famous Needles landmark, or try the full round the island route, which is 66 miles long and is used for the annual Isle of Wight Randonnee held over the bank holiday in May.

Scenic walks can be enjoyed along cliff-top paths, and much of the coastline is designated Heritage status. Also for the outdoor enthusiast, try watersports, golf, riding, fishing, hang-gliding, sailing or birdwatching.
