    The Westgate train station is 200 yards away with mainline into London and Margate. Alternatively, a quick easy taxi or bus travel into Margate, just five minutes away or any of the surrounding towns in the area. The beautiful Westgate beach is just 7 minutes’ walk and if you want to wander there are beaches in both directions, Minnis Bay, Birchington to the left and Margate to the right as you face the sea. These days, Margate fizzes with artistic energy. To traditional, holiday-town charms, add a world-class art gallery. Margate’s Old Town rejoices in a funky vibe. Here chic eateries, galleries, vintage shops and chilled-out cafés rub shoulders with traditional seaside delights: candyfloss stands; fish and chip shops; seafood stalls. The reinvigorated Harbour Arm is home to stylish spots to eat and drink. Just five minutes from the Old Town you will find emporiums of everything antique, old fashioned and unusual at RG Scott’s Furniture Market and Junk Deluxe. From family-holiday nostalgia to historic sights, Margate’s rich history is everywhere. Rediscover childhood toys in the Hornby Visitor Centre. August brings an explosion of colour and sound, as Margate’s vibrant, annual carnival procession snakes through the town over Margate Soul Weekend.     Herne Bay is a seaside town on the north coast of Kent in Southeast England. Herne Bay Pier is a favourite for many as it has a long stretch of boutique shops, cafes and restaurants, a stage, and some fairground rides. This makes for a great day out and even better memories. You are quite literally spoilt for choice of beaches to visit from this property, Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Sandwich, Deal, Herne Bay, Whitstable, SeaSalter and a few bays in between. Alternatively, you have the historic city of Canterbury with its world-famous cathedral and city walls, its shopping precinct, and Old English high street.
    Other attractions worth visiting include Howlett’s Zoo, Port Lympne Zoo, Leeds Castle, Hever Castle and Whitstable for its oysters and castle. Dover on the south coast is famously known for its white chalk cliffs and is the ferry port for crossing the English Channel to France. The Hythe and Dymchurch narrow gauge railway takes you on a scenic route to Dungeness, also worth a visit.
