Nestling in the stunning Esk Valley, these holiday properties have been lovingly converted from 200 year old farm buildings and are situated just across the courtyard from the owners’ farmhouse which dates from the 12th century. Converted from a former granary, The Granary (ref W41008) occupies the first floor of a detached barn conversion, with views towards Castleton Rigg. Stylish and delightfully furnished, retaining many original features with a vaulted ceiling, low beams and solid oak floors. The Carthouse (ref W41503) is spacious and occupies the ground floor of the detached barn conversion, whilst The Byre (ref W7733) is an attractive single storey, detached property with a multi-fuel stove in the living room, and offers wonderful views over the dale. They are all tastefully furnished and decorated and offer excellent holiday accommodation. Ideally situated in the beautiful North York Moors National Park, a scenic drive along the country roads takes you to the historic port of Whitby. The area abounds with smugglers coves and quaint fishing villages untouched by the passing years. An excellent base for exploring the surrounding area, with the Yorkshire coast and Heartbeat country both easily accessible. Walking is available direct from the door, with fishing and riding nearby. Castleton is 1 mile away with all amenities including supermarket, bank and post office. A magical part of the world at any time of the year. Rosary House is a spacious stone farmhouse which was built in 1750 and is located in the quaint village of Irton, 4 miles from the glorious golden Cayton Bay, with the larger coastal destinations of Scarborough and Filey also within a 15-minute drive. This period property offers a unique and cosy stay with an exceptionally large enclosed garden and ample parking. Ideal for large families and groups of friends, especially for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.
The house sleeps up to eight people comfortably with a kingsize bed, double bed, small double and two single beds. There is a main upstairs bathroom with a bath and a newly fitted downstairs shower room. Each room is well presented with gorgeous original features, such as exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings adding to its charm. The kitchen is well equipped with an Aga, as well as an electric cooker. The owner’s aim is to make this a home from home, and you will find all the facilities and equipment you would expect to find at your own house here too. In summer the beautiful extensive gardens, equipped with a hot tub and gas BBQ can be enjoyed by all. In winter you can cosy up by the two wood burners in either of the sitting rooms, equipped with Smart TVs. There is also an electric double garage available but please request this at the time of booking the key fob can be left for you. There are mountain bikes for guests to enjoy in the end stable but please respect them as if they were your own.
There is something for everyone to enjoy during your stay at Rosary House, with Scarborough only a short 10-minute drive away where you can spend the day at the beach, or check out the impressive views of the coast from Scarborough Castle. You can dine out at one of the many local village pubs in Irton, and the award-winning fish and chip shop which are only a short walk away. If you would like to venture a little further, Whitby is only a 40-minute drive, or you can experience an old-fashioned steam train ride from Pickering to Whitby. Families can enjoy a day out at the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough or Flamingo Land, near Pickering, only 30 minutes away. You can hop on the train to the historical city of York for a day trip and The North York Moors are right on your doorstep for great walking routes. This imposing Edwardian country house stands in its own garden overlooking sheep grazing the common at Goathland, whilst the views of moors and forest may be enjoyed from the west-facing terrace. Set in the village of Goathland, perhaps better known as Aidensfield from the TV series Heartbeat, in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, it is in an excellent area for walking – the North Yorks Moors steam railway stops at the village station on its journey from Pickering to Grosmont. Horse riding can also be found nearby.
Whitby being only 9 miles away is a picturesque seaport famous for its Captain Cook connections, where the cobbled streets and yards stand in the shadow of the Abbey, overlooking the harbour. The 3 miles of sandy beaches lead to the pretty coastal village of Sandsend. Robin Hood’s Bay (renowned as a bygone smugglers’ haunt), Runswick Bay and Staithes are all worth a visit. Inland, the moors are scattered with villages, many with excellent inns. Goathland itself offers an excellent choice of inns and restaurants, in addition to local shops, post office and cafés. Located in a peaceful part of the popular fishing town of Whitby, The Garth benefits from a spacious interior and a lovely front garden as well as an enclosed rear garden plus a driveway with parking for two vehicles. In such a popular seaside town the convenience of having private parking is great, the property is opposite the local Rugby Club, which has a play area for children and a friendly bar open in the evenings. This three bedroomed, semi-detached house has been thoughtfully furnished and makes for a fantastic home from home, and is ideal for families, as well as couples and friends. As well as a comfortable living room with a large Smart TV and an inviting gas fire, there is a well-equipped kitchen, plus a dining table where you can all socialise together. Upstairs there is a master double bedroom with a wardrobe, drawers and a dressing table as well as an en-suite bathroom. There is also a second double bedroom also with plenty of storage and a double bunk bed in the third bedroom, along with a family shower room. Outside the rear garden has a seating area, as well as bike storage and is enclosed making it ideal for dogs. A dog crate can be provided upon request and a dog walker can also be arranged.

There are all year round dog friendly beaches for you and your pooch to enjoy close by, the nearest beach is only a 15-minute walk away. Whitby is a wonderful historic town with plenty to do for all the family to enjoy. Why not attend one of the many events or festivals such as the Regatta and Goth Weekend, or just stroll through the cobbled streets with its ’jet’ jewellers, independent shops as well as many cafés, restaurants and bars, where you can sample freshly caught seafood and take in the views. For outdoor enthusiasts the Cleveland Way is just a few hundred yards away, where you can turn left for Saltburn and Sandsend or right for Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. There is also a public golf course close by.

The Whitby coast is ideal for beach lovers and those wanting to take a boat trip out to sea in the hope of spotting a whale, or just wanting to enjoy the long stretch of golden sandy beach. The Victorian town of Scarborough is just to the south, with its Sealife Centre and the popular open air theatre, attracting top musical acts for all ages. Saltburn and Sandsend are popular with surfers, and the quaint village of Staithes is worth a visit with its links to the explorer Captain James Cook.

Head inland and you will enter the North York Moors National Park with its miles of beautiful countryside, walking routes and waterfalls. If you don’t fancy a drive, take the steam train from Whitby right into ’Heartbeat’ country. The medieval walled city of York is just an hour away and you’ll find plenty of attractions from The National Railway Museum to York Dungeons and The Jorvik Viking Centre. There is a rapid electric vehicle charging point within 300 yards of the property. Beach ¾ mile.

Hunters Lodge is perfectly set in the delightful little village of Scruton which is located outside the wonderful market town of Northallerton. Surrounded by the North York Moors National Park, this detached property is simply stunning and is everything you would want from a holiday cottage. Hunters Lodge still retains its sense of history, after being converted from an old barn with exposed beams throughout, giving you that home from home feeling as soon as you step in.

Adjacent from the living room down the hallway are two good sized bedrooms, both with fresh linen, guaranteeing a perfect night’s sleep ready for the next day’s adventure. In between both bedrooms is the large family bathroom, with a shower over bath should you wish to have a long soak.

With the cottage situated outside of Northallerton, the local pubs, restaurants and shops are within easy reach as well as the world-famous Betty’s tea room where afternoon tea is a must. You can explore the stunning North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, both packed full of bike trails and fantastic, scenic walks. Nearby towns which are well worth a visit include Helmsley, Thirsk, Richmond and a little further afield York and Leeds which can be accessed by the train station in Northallerton. This stunning stone-built house is the ideal choice for families and friends looking for somewhere special for their stay by the coast. Stepping inside into a spacious hallway, there is a picture of Captain Cook – who began his voyages from the harbour here. You then enter a contemporary living area where there is a well-equipped, navy-blue, nautical shaker-style kitchen and dining area for 8-10 people. You can sit at the Captain’s table and enjoy your full English Breakfast or your teatime fish and chips, or maybe cook a fine dining dinner for you and your guests. The lounge at the bottom of the hallway features a fabulous, whitewashed wood fireplace with cast iron electric fire. Decorated in seaside tones of aqua navy and white, with solid white oak painted furniture, this is a cosy space with leather sofas where you have a view over the private enclosed garden - from here you can see the top of Sneaton Castle which is only a 3-minute walk away. Sneaton Castle has a wonderful restaurant and bar, where you can enjoy meals in beautiful surroundings either inside the castle itself or out in the grounds. You have a flagged patio sitting out area in the garden, where you can enjoy the afternoon sun, here you can relax after a long day out at the beach or sightseeing. The adjoining garage can be used for bike or surfboard storage and doubles as a games room.
After a busy day exploring you can retire upstairs to the bedrooms, each one beautifully presented. The master bedroom has a solid oak super king bed, Smart TV and an en-suite bathroom, and there is a further kingsize room, both of these rooms have ceiling fans to keep you cool on hot summer evenings. The third bedroom has a double bed, and the fourth bedroom has bunk beds with an additional trundle bed which can be pulled out (sleeps 3).

You are perfectly positioned to enjoy the delights Whitby has to offer, only a short walk away from the Westcliff, with the golden (dog-friendly) beach below stretching all the way to neighbouring Sandsend. You can also walk into the town centre with an abundance of cafes, bars, and independent shops, which is just a mile away, or hop onto the convenient bus. Whitby is steeped in history, with the Whitby Abbey on the headland, a cobbled historic old town, and the pretty harbour. Take a trip on the heritage steam train, soak up the history in one of the museums or enjoy the sea air and stunning vistas on a boat trip. Further along the coast you have delightful bays and coastal villages to discover before returning to your idyllic holiday home.
