    Hidden up a quiet country lane, this property offers visitors the opportunity to come together and enjoy this picturesque Dales village in comfort. Set over two floors, you enter the property on the ground floor which presents a comfortable living room with a cosy open fire, ideal to snuggle up to on those colder evenings. There is also a separate dining room and a well-presented, well-equipped kitchen with plenty of room for food preparation. On the same floor you also have a single bedroom equipped with en-suite facilities.
    The first floor offers two bedrooms; the master bedroom boasts a plush double bed, the other a single. On the same floor you have the main bathroom which has a shower over bath and a heated towel rail. To the rear of the property, you have a patio and lawned area which is a sun trap, and has the spectacular panoramic views of the countryside which surrounds the property, giving you a great place to have a glass of fizz al fresco style.
    Oakleigh makes for an ideal location from which to walk or cycle direct from the door through some of the most scenic countryside in Yorkshire. Conquer one, or all three of the ’Three Peaks’ (Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent), or cycle through the peaceful quiet lanes. Alternatively, both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Parks are readily accessible by car.
    The bustling market town of Settle is well served with a variety of pubs and restaurants, and is just 3½ miles away, or a little further afield, visit the thriving market town of Skipton. The owners also offer a small holding with a variety of animals to go and visit and feed, which can be arranged with them on a request basis, this is great for families who have small children.

    The property is set amongst spectacular scenery and has several attractions within a few minutes’ drive, why not visit Ingleton which offers the Waterfalls Trail, a 4½-mile trail via a series of spectacular waterfalls, through ancient woodland and beautiful Yorkshire Dales scenery, or the stunning White Scar Caves, spanning 1 mile, the longest show cave in Britain. There are plenty of walks and cycle routes nearby as you have the Yorkshire Dales at your feet, or if you prefer retail therapy, there is a good selection of independent shops and unique stores. Whether you are looking for family fun or an adventure with friends, there is sure to be something for everyone.

    This detached holiday cottage with log burner (recently built n 2022) is ideally placed to explore the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District and is perfectly placed for walkers with the Three Peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent on our doorstep. or a day exploring the Devonshire Estate or visiting Grassington or Hawes.

    Crooklands Cottage is a short distance from Austwick, one of the prettiest villages in the Dales, with a church, post office and convenience store, and a pub and hotel, both serving great food. Situated midway between Settle and Ingleton and a short distance to Clapham, you’ll come to the historic village of Kirkby Lonsdale about 10 miles down the road and Skipton is only less than 20 miles in the other direction.

From here you can take a ride on the famous steam train to Grosmont, Goathland (aka Aidensfield in the classic TV series Heartbeat) and the seaside town of Whitby where you can climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. Those looking for a quieter pace of life may prefer to walk the many footpaths and bridleways over the North York Moors.
