Moorland Cottage is one of three cottages which are set in the heart of the picturesque North Yorkshire village of Hutton-le-Hole, famous for its meandering beck, old stone cottages and expanse of common land which is kept well-manicured by the resident sheep. The cottage provides the ideal base for walking, cycling, touring and exploring the moors, coast, vale and dale. It has been sympathetically converted from old farm buildings to offer cosy, home from home accommodation. From the doorstep visitors can enjoy the popular Ryedale Folk Museum, tea rooms, craft shops, galleries and the village’s own chocolate factory. The well-established village pub offers a warm welcome and a menu of hearty home-cooked meals. Cyclists are very welcome and there is ample storage for bikes and equipment at the property. There are many cycling trails in Dalby Forest which is just a 20-minute drive away. Walkers are well catered for with fabulous, scenic walking on the doorstep. On-site there is a shared utility room where boots and outdoor clothing can be dried and stored. Visit Pickering (9 miles) and board the famous steam train for a stunning trip through the North York Moors to the fishing port of Whitby. Enjoy the quaint market towns of Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley with their delightful selection of shops, restaurants and inns alongside attractions including the Centre for Birds of Prey and the Walled Garden. The Arts Centre in Helmsley offers a broad range of theatre, music, cinema and exhibitions and throughout the summer months the outdoor swimming pool is popular with children. Historic houses can be found at Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall and there are abbey ruins at Rievaulx and Byland. Family fun can be found at Flamingo Land and Go Ape and there are miles of sandy beaches at the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. Blacksmiths Cottage offers a cosy stay within the delightful little village of Gillamoor, located just outside the market town of Kirkbymoorside. The cottage has been carefully converted to retain all its features from the days when it was the local blacksmiths shop, with its original oak beams, reclaimed brickwork and the fantastic blacksmiths forge fireplace.

All on the ground level, the property is ideal for couples who want to come away and relax whilst also having the opportunity to explore what this beautiful location has to offer. The cottage offers a very comfortable living area which is open plan with the kitchen and dining area, along with a good-sized double bedroom and small bathroom.

This semi-detached cottage has plenty of character, a large fireplace with a wood burner, exposed beams and reclaimed brickwork which offers both couples and families a luxury holiday retreat whilst being ideally located to explore all that the North York Moors has to offer.
The property is set over two levels. You enter the property through a small sunroom which was added to the property in 2021 by the owners, which has a seating are for two. On the same floor you have a well presented and well equipped kitchen which has plenty of room for food preparation. There is also a large living area which has all the home comforts to give that lovely home from home feel.
The Second floor presents bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a choice of twin beds or a double. You also have a delightful bathroom which has a shower over the bath along with a heated towel rail. The bathroom is also tiled on the walls and floor.
The garden is set opposite the property, however it gives a lovely private setting which offers a barbecue and garden furniture. Helmsley is the closest town which is 4 miles down the road, meaning you have quick access to the local pubs, cafés, restaurants, shops, and Helmsley Brewery. Greenview also has a gorgeous little inn next door which serves great Yorkshire ales and mouth-watering food, it also has a little beer garden.
You have the stunning North York Moors National Park on your doorstep which is full of bike trails and fantastic, scenic walks, including the very popular Rievaulx Abbey. Other nearby towns include Malton, Pickering, Thirsk and York. If you fancied a day at the beach Scarborough is approximately a 50-minute drive.

Secluded and tranquil, guests are free to explore the woodland walk and the area is home to a variety of wildlife - including wild deer, owls and hares just to name a few. The property is set on a small traditional organic farm which grows vegetables and organic soft fruit. Guests are welcome to purchase the organic products grown here directly from the friendly owners. The property is environmentally friendly, heated by a unique wood-burning/solar heating system, and many of the practices throughout the farm and property use natural resources for their day-to-day running. An indoor heated swimming pool and hard tennis court shared between other properties, a small gym, as well as a children’s play area complete the facilities on offer.

The beautiful North York Moors are a delight to explore either on foot or by car, or alternatively, the steam railway runs along stunning scenery through many unspoilt villages including Goathland (Aidensfield in the television series ’Heartbeat’). The coast is easily accessible, 45 minutes away, and the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough and Whitby are delights not to be missed. The quaint cobbled streets of Robin Hood’s Bay, once a favourite haunt with smugglers, will keep children and adults entertained for hours with its shoreline full of strange and colourful pebbles. Castle Howard is within easy driving distance, and Flamingo Land (a popular theme park and zoo) is well worth the visit. The market town of Helmsley is just 6 miles away and has shops and inns as well as pretty walled gardens.

Many National Trust and English Heritage properties can be found within a 15-mile radius, including Nunnington Hall, Byland Abbey and Duncomb Park, to name but a few.
