Evergreen House is a well-presented, spacious property with private parking. Ideal for families and friends, you have a welcoming home from home to return to after exploring the beautiful surroundings of the heritage coastline as well as the North York Moors National Park. The large enclosed garden is surrounded by wild birdsong and boasts a summerhouse, where you can play a selection of board games. The summerhouse has electricity with lighting and heaters so you can use it in the evenings. Stepping inside from the garden, glass doors open into the open plan kitchen/dining room. This is a grand size where everyone can gather to enjoy meals together. The living room has sumptuous sofas in Harris Tweed and leather, sited around the wood burner, giving a welcoming atmosphere. At the top of the village a minute’s walk away away is a popular pub and hotel serving evening meals. Runswick Bay has arguably the most beautiful beach along this coastline. From the top of the village it takes just over 10 minutes to walk down the hill to the bay with a cluster of historic houses teetering above the sea. Down beside the bay is a small café, a traditional pub, a sailing club, paddleboarding and kayaking through the warmer months. It is a sheltered bay, so the water is often calm, whereas surfers have neighbouring Saltburn and Sandsend where the waves are often much bigger. The beach is beautiful, as well as being both dog and child friendly. From the clifftops you can join the Cleveland Way which links scenic coastal villages and bays from Filey in the south and up to Saltburn in the north, then continuing into the North York Moors National Park.

Runswick Bay is gorgeous, with sweeping golden sand, perfect for a scenic stroll while taking in the fresh sea breeze. Whitby is just a 30-minute drive away, a seafaring town with a fascinating history and an abbey overlooking the cobbled streets lined with independent shops and quirky cafés for you to explore, this place really has it all! Kettleness is a peaceful hamlet perched atop the clifftop. You are surrounded by the rolling countryside of the North York Moors National Park, with the vast north sea stretching out before you. A second set of stairs from the kitchen takes you up to another twin bedroom. This is a great cottage for families or friends looking to escape to the country, with the beach only a 20-minute walk away. The area is a haven for keen walkers, cyclists and dog owners with numerous pathways and cycle tracks located right on your doorstep, including the famous 110- mile Cleveland Way that can be accessed literally yards away. It is conveniently positioned for visiting the delightful coastal resorts of Runswick Bay, just one mile away, and Sandsend and Whitby, where you can enjoy beautiful stretches of golden beaches. The quaint village of Sandsend is only four miles away and is an ideal place for all the family with its award-winning, wide sweeping beaches, rock pools and dramatic cliffs. This part of the coastline is known locally as the Dinosaur Coast because of the many fossils found here.
Children will enjoy damming the little beck where it crosses the beach to form a freshwater lagoon which is great for paddling and boating. A lovely, scenic 6-mile walk along the Cleveland Way will bring you into the historic port of Whitby where you will find an abundance of activities for adults and children to enjoy. There is a large selection of pubs, quaint antique and gift shops, the famous fish and chip shops and 3 miles of golden sandy beach and amusements. You can take a trip on one of the fishing boats that will take you out and around the harbour where you can appreciate the views of St Mary’s Church and the stunning abbey that towers on the east side of the town.
Whitby has many events going on all year round which are extremely popular including folk wek, music weekends including sixties and soul weekends and also Goth Weekends mainly because of Whitby’s connection with Dracula. Due to the property being in such a rural location phone signal and the wifi can be sometimes intermittent, adding to the tranquillity of your stay.

Originally a fisherman’s cottage, you are tucked away from the high street in the village of Loftus, with a small stream running past the front door. The owners have taken great care in completely renovating this property at the beginning of 2022 to provide a high-quality holiday home with everything required to provide a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Inside you have a snug living area, with cosy sofas around the TV.

Step down into the dining area which is open plan with the bespoke modern kitchen. There is a door from the kitchen leading out into the small rear yard with outdoor seating. Starting with Skinningrove, a peaceful beautiful beach just a 30 minute steady stroll from the cottage, is great for fossil hunting; further along the coast is gorgeous Runswick Bay, picturesque Staithes, the surfers’ paradise of Saltburn and the historic seafaring town of Whitby with its long golden beach stretching to Sandsend. For walkers there are walking trails across the national park, and within walking distance of stunning beaches, which include the Cleveland Way along the cliff tops, or Roseberry Topping which offers stunning panoramic views.
If you are fascinated by history visit Guisborough Priory and Whitby Abbey, as well as museums including Staithes Heritage Museum, Whitby’s Captain Cook Museum and Hutton le Holes Folk Museum. On the moors there are many rural villages to visit, or why not enjoy a trip on the steam train to take in the scenery.
For the adventurous there are water sports including white water rafting, sailing and paddle boarding at Tees Barrage and Scaling Dam, as well as surf schools in Saltburn, Sandsend and Whitby. In Dalby Forest you can zip wire through the treetops.

St Hilda’s Rest is a barn conversion tucked away in a secluded part of the small village of Hinderwell on an award-winning accommodation development. It is close to the seaside town of Staithes and about 9 miles from Whitby. This cottage offers superb accommodation and makes an ideal base for exploring the beautiful East Coast and North York Moors.
Having undergone a full refurbishment in 2019, this superb accommodation is both modern and comfortable, whilst still making the most of the building’s character and charm. Downstairs is an open plan kitchen/living and dining area. The well-thought-out space benefits from a designer kitchen and quality fixtures and fittings, all beautifully styled. The ground floor bedroom offers a sumptuous kingsize bed and en-suite wet room that would be suitable for any less mobile guests. Upstairs are two further double bedrooms with en-suites, another double bedroom and further bedroom with twin beds providing comfortable sleeping for ten people. Hinderwell is just a 5-minute walk from the cottage, and local amenities include several excellent several pubs, a good butchers, local shops and a café. Staithes is just a mile down the road and is worth exploring. With great access to Sandsend and the seaside town of Whitby, you can enjoy the picturesque coastline on your visit, or choose to explore the historic Whitby Abbey.

Situated at Staithes, near Whitby, these former World War I army bunkers are in an idyllic position close to the countryside and sea. Four of the barracks have been ingeniously and tastefully transformed to provide good quality accommodation retaining much rustic character and charm. The remaining four lodges retain their near original condition as a visual reminder of their former function. Each refurbished lodge has the added advantage of free parking, an outdoor sitting area and bike parking racks.
Situated just off the Cleveland Way, there are many fine moorland and cliff top walks. There is a golf course and driving range in Brotton, 6¾ miles away, and at Scaling Reservoir, 7¼ miles, there is sailing and fishing. There is a leisure centre 2 miles down the road and a 2-minute stroll down the cobbled street brings you to the centre of the picturesque fishing village with its small harbour nestling beneath rugged cliffs. Step back in time and walk the quaint narrow passages, as Captain James Cook himself must have done. Here in Staithes there are village shops, pubs, cafés and a restaurant, and in 2020 the village was featured on the BBC programme ’Gone Christmas Fishing’ with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. Why not travel on Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express (the North Yorkshire Moors Railway) through ’Heartbeat’ country, or visit Whitby and its famous abbey which is 11 miles away.
