This well-equipped 18th-century stone built holiday cottage is set in an elevated position in the pretty hamlet of Sedbusk. Located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park just 1-mile from the popular market town of Hawes. It has breathtaking views and the outstanding countryside is ideal for walking or for touring the whole of the Dales, and Windermere in the Lakes is less than an hour away. Visitors can wander the 70 acres of beautifully tended grounds or relax in the shared terrace garden with its small lake and river frontage. The views over the surrounding countryside are superb, and there is excellent walking from the doorstep. Long distance footpaths along this area’s Heritage Coastline, and the Cleveland Way, offer perfect terrain for walkers and cyclists. The Ryedale Folk Museum at popular Hutton-Le-Hole, and the ruins of Rosedale Abbey are both worth a visit. For a day out, the North York Moors Railway runs steam train journeys between Grosmont and Pickering. Whitby, is easily reached, with miles of sandy beaches and an ancient abbey overlooking its harbour. Scarborough, and the coastal villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Sandsend are all within 20 miles. Horse racing at Thirsk, Wetherby and York, 25 miles. This former cart store has been converted into a quaint Dale’s stone cottage set just off the village green in Bellerby. With its streams and mill race running through Bellerby it’s a picturesque setting at the edge of Wensleydale. Entering the front door into the living/dining room with exposed stonework, flagstone flooring, beams and a large inglenook fireplace, the cottage offers an abundance of character and charm. The two settees set around the open fire offer a cosy feel while watching the Smart TV in Holly Cottage.
A dining table and chairs are positioned to the rear of the room. Going through to the kitchen, all the appliances, crockery, and utensils you need are available to rustle up some cosy meals while staying at Holly Cottage. The staircase from the living room is characterful with uneven treads and a rope banister to guide you up towards the two bedrooms. Both rooms offer comfortable beds, one being a double, the other offering bunk beds suitable for children with attractive quality linen and hand and bath towels available for each Guest. The compact shower room has a shower cubicle with a deep step in/out, toilet, sink and heated towel rail
To the rear of the property there is an enclosed picket fenced garden which includes a lawn area and flower beds, along with a stone patio with a table, chairs, and a bench to enjoy sitting at while taking in a morning coffee or firing up the barbecue for an alfresco supper. The South facing front garden is not secured for dogs but guests can happily sit there on the bench and watch the world go by. The shared front driveway which offers parking for 1 car. The attached property, Cherry Tree Cottage, has allocated parking for 2 cars on the same driveway. Both properties can be used by larger Groups if required. Please ask about this option.
Bellerby is a village situated on the edge of The Yorkshire Dales National Park with a local pub serving a selection of real ales but unfortunately no food and although there is no shop or amenities as such in the village the lovely market town of Leyburn is just over a mile away where an array of individual shops, pubs, cafés, and restaurants are available. If you are looking to get out and stretch your legs, whether walking or cycling, there are abundant established public footpaths, bridleways, and cycle routes available in the local vicinity with spectacular scenery, open countryside, and pretty Yorkshire villages to explore.
Within easy driving distance there is an array of places to visit whether it’s the historic Castle Bolton, Richmond Castle, Jervaulx Abbey or the stunning Aysgarth Falls, there is something to suit everyone’s taste. The children and adults alike will love Forbidden Corner with its quirky folly garden to explore or for the more adventurous why not visit the theme park, Lightwater Valley.
