- Cayton, EnglandRosary House is a spacious stone farmhouse which was built in 1750 and is located in the quaint village of Irton, 4 miles from the glorious golden Cayton Bay, with the larger coastal destinations of Scarborough and Filey also within a 15-minute drive. This period property offers a unique and cosy stay with an exceptionally large enclosed garden and ample parking. Ideal for large families and groups of friends, especially for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.
The house sleeps up to eight people comfortably with a kingsize bed, double bed, small double and two single beds. There is a main upstairs bathroom with a bath and a newly fitted downstairs shower room. Each room is well presented with gorgeous original features, such as exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings adding to its charm. The kitchen is well equipped with an Aga, as well as an electric cooker. The owner’s aim is to make this a home from home, and you will find all the facilities and equipment you would expect to find at your own house here too. In summer the beautiful extensive gardens, equipped with a hot tub and gas BBQ can be enjoyed by all. In winter you can cosy up by the two wood burners in either of the sitting rooms, equipped with Smart TVs. There is also an electric double garage available but please request this at the time of booking the key fob can be left for you. There are mountain bikes for guests to enjoy in the end stable but please respect them as if they were your own.
There is something for everyone to enjoy during your stay at Rosary House, with Scarborough only a short 10-minute drive away where you can spend the day at the beach, or check out the impressive views of the coast from Scarborough Castle. You can dine out at one of the many local village pubs in Irton, and the award-winning fish and chip shop which are only a short walk away. If you would like to venture a little further, Whitby is only a 40-minute drive, or you can experience an old-fashioned steam train ride from Pickering to Whitby. Families can enjoy a day out at the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough or Flamingo Land, near Pickering, only 30 minutes away. You can hop on the train to the historical city of York for a day trip and The North York Moors are right on your doorstep for great walking routes. - Goathland, EnglandThis imposing Edwardian country house stands in its own garden overlooking sheep grazing the common at Goathland, whilst the views of moors and forest may be enjoyed from the west-facing terrace. Set in the village of Goathland, perhaps better known as Aidensfield from the TV series Heartbeat, in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, it is in an excellent area for walking – the North Yorks Moors steam railway stops at the village station on its journey from Pickering to Grosmont. Horse riding can also be found nearby.
Whitby being only 9 miles away is a picturesque seaport famous for its Captain Cook connections, where the cobbled streets and yards stand in the shadow of the Abbey, overlooking the harbour. The 3 miles of sandy beaches lead to the pretty coastal village of Sandsend. Robin Hood’s Bay (renowned as a bygone smugglers’ haunt), Runswick Bay and Staithes are all worth a visit. Inland, the moors are scattered with villages, many with excellent inns. Goathland itself offers an excellent choice of inns and restaurants, in addition to local shops, post office and cafés. - Whitby, EnglandLocated in a peaceful part of the popular fishing town of Whitby, The Garth benefits from a spacious interior and a lovely front garden as well as an enclosed rear garden plus a driveway with parking for two vehicles. In such a popular seaside town the convenience of having private parking is great, the property is opposite the local Rugby Club, which has a play area for children and a friendly bar open in the evenings. This three bedroomed, semi-detached house has been thoughtfully furnished and makes for a fantastic home from home, and is ideal for families, as well as couples and friends. As well as a comfortable living room with a large Smart TV and an inviting gas fire, there is a well-equipped kitchen, plus a dining table where you can all socialise together. There are all year round dog friendly beaches for you and your pooch to enjoy close by, the nearest beach is only a 15-minute walk away. Whitby is a wonderful historic town with plenty to do for all the family to enjoy. Why not attend one of the many events or festivals such as the Regatta and Goth Weekend, or just stroll through the cobbled streets with its ’jet’ jewellers, independent shops as well as many cafés, restaurants and bars, where you can sample freshly caught seafood and take in the views. For outdoor enthusiasts the Cleveland Way is just a few hundred yards away, where you can turn left for Saltburn and Sandsend or right for Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. There is also a public golf course close by.
The Whitby coast is ideal for beach lovers and those wanting to take a boat trip out to sea in the hope of spotting a whale, or just wanting to enjoy the long stretch of golden sandy beach. The Victorian town of Scarborough is just to the south, with its Sealife Centre and the popular open air theatre, attracting top musical acts for all ages. Saltburn and Sandsend are popular with surfers, and the quaint village of Staithes is worth a visit with its links to the explorer Captain James Cook.
Head inland and you will enter the North York Moors National Park with its miles of beautiful countryside, walking routes and waterfalls. If you don’t fancy a drive, take the steam train from Whitby right into ’Heartbeat’ country. The medieval walled city of York is just an hour away and you’ll find plenty of attractions from The National Railway Museum to York Dungeons and The Jorvik Viking Centre. Comfortable sofas in front of the TV are ideal for winding down after a busy day exploring. The adjoining kitchen is well equipped, making this a home from home where you can create all your favourite meals. There are four good sized bedrooms, all well-presented. Upstairs on the first floor there is a super king bedroom as well as a twin room. Up on the second floor you have a second twin room as well as a king bedroom. There are two bathrooms, one of the first and one on the second floor, both with baths with showers over. At the rear of the property you have an adjoining garage for your use as well as an additional parking space in front of the garage door, which is a great bonus in a popular seaside town where parking can be tricky.

There is an outdoor theatre which stages concerts by some of music’s big names, and then there is the Stephen Joseph Theatre which is famous for the premieres of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays. The Alpamare waterpark is great for all ages, with its fantastic wave pool and waterslides, as well as a large heated outdoor infinity pool. Keep younger children entertained with the ’splash and play’ area. For adults there is a spa where you can relax and be pampered. The heated outdoor pools are warm enough to enjoy through all of the seasons. Further along the coast you also have Ravenscar, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Bridlington to discover.
There is so much to see and do you are sure to be spoilt for choice, this is a great destination all year round. For dog owners many of the cafés and pubs in this area welcome dogs, and there are some fabulous walking trails over the nearby National Park to enjoy.
