There are beautiful walks from the door. A 20-minute walk will take you across the river to the village of Bardon Mill with picnic area, coffee shop/general store, a hotel serving a varied menu including Thai meals and drinks. From here catch the train - you can be in Newcastle or Carlisle in under 45 minutes. Nearby Haltwhistle, geographically acknowledged as ’the Centre of Britain’ has many amenities including a supermarket, independent shops, restaurant, cocktail bar, a sports centre, and an outdoor swimming pool. The location is excellent for exploring the spectacular scenery of the north of England, visit the famous Vindolanda Roman Fort, The Sill Landscape Discovery Centre, and the world-famous Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall.
