The quayside in Amble has a Sunday weekly market and is home to the Harbour Village where small independent shopping pods sell a range of arts, crafts, accessories, food, and drink. Head to the RPSB reserve of Coquet Island to discover puffins, terns and eider ducks, and take a boat ride around the island to see it from a unique perspective, while wildlife lovers will also relish the chance to explore the Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre and birdwatching opportunities are prominent at Druridge Bay. 6 miles North brings you to the quaint town of Alnmouth, a popular coastal village known for its excellent 18-hole golf course and its charming cycle routes. Spacious for two people, Little Willows is ideally located to explore the Heritage coast, peppered with castles and friendly villages. Only a short drive from Amble, reputedly the friendliest port with a working harbour, good Sunday market and a good selection of pubs, restaurants and shops, with an award-winning ice cream shop on the harbour. Amble is the start of the Heritage coastal route so head north for glorious beaches or head west towards the National Park and Cheviots all within easy driving distance making fabulous days out. Perhaps travel west and go over to Hadrian’s Wall countryside and see some of the Roman Wall. Nearby Felton has a wonderful award winning pub and café popular with the locals. For Harry Potter fans, a visit to Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland, is 10 miles and is a popular tourist destination in the historic town of Alnwick with its cobbled streets. Alnmouth railway station is only a few miles, and from here you can catch the East Coast train up to Edinburgh or down to Newcastle or York for day trips to remember.
