This large sandstone 17th-century holiday cottage stands detached on the banks of the River Severn with stunning views of the Severn Valley from both the house and the delightful lawned garden. It is located just 50 yards from Highley station and the Engine House Museum on the Severn Valley Railway, with steam trains running past the rear of the cottage. Journey from Marylebone station and change at Kidderminster to complete the fabulous journey by steam train. It is a perfect location for exploring the beautiful Severn Valley with its many footpaths, bridleways and river walks, with the famous Severn Way passing directly in front of the cottage and a country park just 50 yards away. This famous stretch of Stanley Water on the River Severn is one of the most prolific for barbel fishing in the country, producing barbel to 17lb on the BAA stretch of water outside the cottage. There are also two day ticket stretches at £6 per day, and lots of local carp fishing lakes. The Astbury 18-hole, award-winning golf course is a 5-minute drive away. The West Midlands Safari Park is a 15-minute drive away, and this property makes an excellent base for visiting Bridgnorth, Bewdley, Ludlow, Worcester, Ironbridge, Wenlock Edge and the Long Mynd, all within an hour’s drive. Nearby are The Clee and Long Mynd hills, Stiperstones and Wenlock Edge, all of which are a walkers paradise.
The medieval town of Ludlow, 5 miles, has a racecourse, 13th century castle, wonderful architecture, street markets, antique shops and Michelin-starred restaurants. Visit Church Stretton, known as Little Switzerland, Ironbridge and Shrewsbury, with its wonderful buildings, shops and riverside walks. Fishing and golf can be found within 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

From its rural setting, this lovely converted barn enjoys panoramic far reaching views over the delightful Shropshire countryside towards the Welsh Borders. Comfortably furnished it lies close to the owners working farm and offers an excellent base for exploring this area, with wonderful walking and fantastic bird watching opportunities with red kite being a regular feature. The property also boasts a conservatory facing west to take advantage of the surrounding views. The charming market town of Bishops Castle, 2 miles, is home to two breweries, interesting shops and restaurants, whilst Ludlow and Shrewsbury are both easily accessible. The local pub is 3 miles away.

Set in a convenient location, it is within walking distance of the locally run pub, and a short drive away from the visitor attractions of Ludlow with its castle and racecourse, Bridgnorth, Ironbridge and Much Wenlock. Also worth visiting are the River Severn, famous for its tidal bore, the River Teme and the Severn Valley Railway. Other local attractions include Rays Farm, the inland funicular railway and Daniels Mill. This holiday cottage, newly converted in 2019, is situated just outside of the village of Baschurch which is set near to Shrewsbury and Ellesmere. Baschurch offers pubs, takeaways, churches, a large convenience store and cash point. The local bus, which operates between Shrewsbury and Ellesmere, collects and drops off on Springfield Barns main drive allowing guests to leave the car behind.
Shropshire is a gem of a county with so much to explore within easy reach. The north of the county offers the meres, mosses and canals along with the county town of Shrewsbury. Whereas the south of the county offers the stunning Shropshire Hills and food renowned market town of Ludlow. The county is home to Ironbridge World Heritage Site and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site and nine National Trust sites including Attingham Park.
Shrewsbury is the birthplace of Charles Darwin and is a wonder of medieval black and white buildings. The town offers fantastic dining, individual shops, craft markets, museums, art galleries and the stunning Dingle within the Quarry Park.
The barn is set within the boundary of the owner’s grounds and it neighbours The Parlour (ref UK10958) on one side. There is private parking for two cars within the main parking area and the property is accessed from the main drive.
You step through the front door into a very modern, bright, airy open plan conversion with vaulted ceilings and beautifully restored original exposed beams. Firstly, into the fully fitted and equipped kitchen area with breakfast bar, oven, microwave, fridge and ample storage space. Then into the living area with dining table for two people and the peaceful living area with a 32” Freeview TV and sofa. To the rear of the living area is the sleeping area with a kingsize bed and an en-suite shower room. It is surprisingly spacious for a sleeps two conversion.
There are two seating areas, one within the lawned garden and the other adjacent to the front door. Both areas are ideal for relaxing and barbecuing. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 700 yards.
