Barrowswood, a semi-detached holiday cottage (ref 29842), enjoys commanding views over Cheddar Gorge in the distance. Its large garden adjoins a field with occasional visiting sheep and is the perfect spot in which to relax and unwind. Strawberry Lodge (ref 29841) stands detached at the far end of the grounds of Barrowswood, enjoying woodland surroundings with magnificent views over the field and across to Cheddar Gorge. Blackberry Lodge (ref W44121) is a single-storey, detached lodge, ideal for a romantic retreat for couples. All three properties may be booked together should you have a larger party.
Cheddar village offers plenty of interesting shops and cafes as well as other attractions. Cheddar Gorge, Britain’s largest limestone ravine gouged through the Mendips, is a magnet for climbers, walkers and visitors to the floodlit caves and Cheddar Reservoir is a great place to take a picnic, look out for wildlife and join in activities such as sailing and angling. Axbridge is a charming market town with a medieval square and half-timbered buildings, whilst Wookey Hole attracts many visitors to the showcaves. Wells is England’s smallest city set around a cathedral; Wedmore is a lively town with many individual shops and eateries, Glastonbury is famous for its music festival, spiritual culture and King Arthur legends, and the coastal resorts and magnificent beaches at Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean are all within a short drive, as are the cities of Bath and Bristol. Roosters Retreat is a first-floor apartment set within an old Grade II Listed cottage that is situated within 1 mile of the seafront in this lovely seaside town and offers comfortable, spacious and contemporary accommodation for up to four guests who are looking for the perfect base from which to discover this beautiful part of the country. Fully updated, it is well suited for a small family or couples and is within easy reach of shops, restaurants and the beach. The accommodation comprises a spacious open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a high arched ceiling with a smart TV and comfortable furniture. The kitchen area has an electric oven and hob, a dishwasher and a full size fridge/freezer. Directly outside the main living area is a small sitting-out area. There are two bedrooms; a king-size and a twin and a lovely modern shower room parking is available directly outside the apartment for one car.
Minehead is a lovely seaside town that sits on the edge of Exmoor National Park. If walking is your passion, there is no better place to be. Not only do you have Exmoor on the doorstep, with its magnificent views, designated ‘dark skies’ for gorgeous stargazing, wildlife and cosy pubs; but the town is also the starting point of the Southwest Coast Path, the longest countryside trail in the south-west. It’s also the terminus for West Somerset Railway, the longest heritage railway in Britain. The town offers a wide range of attractions, including the beach, promenade, harbour, beautiful gardens and a colourful tree-lined avenue with an array of shops and amenities. Dominated by the wooded slopes of North Hill, the whole area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and is also well situated to discover the beauty of North Devon with stunning Lynton and Lynmouth en route.

Daisy Cottage has cosy accommodation for two, including a fully equipped kitchen, a walk-in shower, a wood burner and a super kingsize bed which can be single beds on request. Children cannot stay at Daisy Cottage, apart from babies aged 9 months and under, for which a travel cot and highchair can be provided.
Within easy reach of Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Wookey Hole, Wells with its magnificent cathedral, the renowned Clarks Village shopping outlet at Street and National Trust properties at Clevedon Court, Tyntesfield and Montacute House. Splendid walks and cycle trails, and nearby Chew Valley Lakes is a modern reservoir and a mecca for birdwatchers and fishermen. Further afield are Exmoor National Park, the re-developed docklands and shopping of Bristol, and the memorable regency architecture of Bath. Beach 5 miles. Set all on the ground floor, the living room is large and comfortable, and has many information leaflets and suggestions for places to visit and for walking a dog. The bedroom can be made up as a super kingsize bed or twin beds. A fitted kitchen, and spacious bathroom featuring an original bread oven which was found as the cottage was renovated, completes the picture.

Horseshoe Cottage is all on the ground floor with two small steps in the corridor. In addition to the large front garden, there is a small private enclosed garden with patio furniture, so that you can enjoy this tranquil position outside during the warmer months.

Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea and Brean Sands are just a 15-minute drive away whilst Cheddar Caves and Gorge, Wookey Hole, Longleat Safari Park and Exmoor National Park are a short journey. Situated less than five miles from a great variety of pubs, restaurants and take-aways, dining out poses no problem!

The village of Lympsham is just a leisurely ½ mile stroll away with a village shop open daily stocked with everyday items, This is next to Lympsham Pavilion, with a cafe offering delicious breakfasts and lunchtime meals and snacks (Monday-Saturday). You can sit outside during the summer months and watch cricket on the green. Lympsham Pavilion is also licensed and the bar is open every evening during the week and from 12pm weekends. Why not book a tennis court for an hour at the village sports club? There are excellent golf courses in the area and both coarse and sea fishing are available locally.

All the delights of Dunster are on the doorstep. The apartments are almost next door to the entrance to Dunster’s imposing National Trust castle with a working water mill, deer park, and ancient priory. The bustling high street has a range of shops and plenty of places to enjoy an afternoon tea or an evening meal. Dunster is also host to the annual ’Dunster by Candlelight’ festival. Held in December, this really is a spectacular event, so book early.

Both apartments have an allocated parking space in the National Trust overflow car park which is just a short walk from the apartments. During your stay at Dunster Castle Apartments, there is much to see and do. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor with highlights such as Dunkery Beacon, Tarr Steps, and Countisbury Head. Looking towards Minehead, there is a good range of shops and amenities. It is also home to the West Somerset Steam Railway which runs between Minehead and Bishop’s Lydeard. Further along the coast are the villages of Watchet, Porlock, and Porlock Weir. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the National Trust’s Watersmeet Gorge, Valley of the Rocks, and the funicular cliff railway, are well worth a visit.
